Also, the camera seems to have a smart pan or something like that, is there anyway to set the edge pan to what it's like in DotA1 and HoN?

Anyone has a problem (DotA 1) where you try to run from some enemies and sundendly your char turns back, like someone had controlled it to go the other way around? This happens to me a lot, and most of the times when I'm trying to run from a gank, almost always end up being killed for entering range of some stun/hold spell. It pisses me off so much. | ||

Either you were sharing control with someone for courier purposes and he accidently controlled your hero, OR, like me, you're an idiot, and when you're sentinel in mid lane and running towards your base away from the ennemy, you accidently click on the right hand top corner of the minimap as you're desperately spamming your right click in the left hand bottom corner of the screen. | ||

That happens when you click on the top right portion of the minimap. Try to be conscious of the problem and it should disappear. Also, clicking further doesnt make you go faster so try to click at the bottom of your hero or somewhere near that. | ||

And as far as I know, all of the "lowest" settings have already been released. I would suggest investing in a better rig. Desktops are much, much cheaper than laptops (you can probably find something fairly suitable around 350-400$) and you can use an HDTV as a monitor if you aren't interested in buying one. | ||

I imagine they will allow crits and stuff during phase. A large part of being on a different engine was for him to allow things to work as he intended. Although it was awesome [sometimes not] the creative ways to work around war3's architecture. | ||

Tried again hours later to see if anything changed, but now there's no option at all to even try logging in through steam. Found some major bugs so far like sandstorm on sk not hurting neutrals [ centaurs ], alt tab causing the ' i ' key to not work for me and 2 other confirmed people. Also had a game with a teammate who said he could see invis weaver, and I think the first game i ever played I saw juggernaught's sword even with invis rune. | ||

I'd do what I can, if my scholarship holds up after this semester i'll have a good reason to spare a little more than that for a new rig (I've already got a nice monitor as well, which is a bonus) | ||

1) Why do I always get so under leveled, playing WC3 DotA with AI atm and I am consistently 2-3 levels behind, usually I am like 7 and they are 10-11-12 and it just gets worse because they demolish me. I try to last hit and deny and I also usually try to use the courier to get items. I usually try and gank around 6 on int characters so maybe the roaming out of lane is doing it? I also check for runes alot. 2) Can you turn a existing animal into a crow or should you just abandone that one and get a crow mid game. 3) On storm spirit should you be getting a fast void stone/linkens so you can use your ult/abilities on a regular basis. 4) Is there a basic item build for each type of hero? i.e guinsoo on all int etc etc so I can have skeleton builds for everyone. | ||

1) Yeah, getting denied reduces the XP you get from the minions, and when I played WC3 DotA AI for the last time, they denied everything if you left them. Also, if you got check runes, do so when there are no enemies mobs diying in your line, and come back faster. Ofc, all that rune-checking, getting denied, and even roaming for ganks, is going to leave you behind in levels. But apart from all of that; I seem to recall bots leveling faster than players on the DotA AI, to make it more of a challenge; to make it up for their lack of "human brain". 2) Yes, you can turn an existing animal into a flying courrier. Depending on the version or the last updates; you can just buy the recipe on him and he will automatically change, or you may need to press his "change" icon when he has the recipe on him. 3) Not an expert on Storm Spirit; but haven't been a fan of "Fast Void" for ages. Having a Void Stone may allow you to cast a couple more spells during the lanning overall; but in a real fight 1v1 (or whatever the size) having a Void is like fighting naked. No extra damage, no extra HP, not even extra mana for being abble to cast 1 more spell (since you won't regenerate enought during the fight). Again, not an expert here, but try to start with some stats items (GG Branches, Bracer/Null). Also, not a "Pro Build", but I recomend you test/try going for Orchids Malevolence; has a really easy build up that makes you stronger every few hundreds of gold; and the Robes of the Magi increase your mana poll and damage noticeably. BTW, sometimes you win more Mana Regen from INT items (because they increase your regen and mana poll) than from plain mana regen items like the Sobi Mask and Void Stone. 4) No. I can't think about a basic item build for any type of hero. Builds vary a lot between heroes, and sometimes depending on your allies and enemies. However most heroes should start with some stats items and some regen items (like Tangos, GG Branches, Bracers, etc...) Most similar I had to a "Skeleton Build" was for some of my STR Melee Heroes back in the day (but probably not even half of them). I don't remember the exact order; but many items can be purchased on the side shop, and take in mind that you need some regen to stay in line. It was something like: Ring of Regen, 3 GG Branches > (Magic Stick/Wand) Ring of Protection (Basilius > Late Vladimirs, not rushed), 2 Gauntlets of Ogre Strenght (one for Boots, one for Cranium Basher, later). Many times the "Boots" will be the last items of the needed for the boots; getting +12 STR from the gauntlets and the attack speed from the gloves really makes you strong quite fast on the early game. This gives you quite some STR/Regen/Armor/Damage on STR Melee Heroes that makes them quite a treat, and I liked it. Later I would go for a Desolator, Hyperstone (last item Cuirass) and finish the Cranium Basher. Is (in my not-pro-gaming experience) a quite strong build for most pubs that makes you really strong. Notice how well the items sinergize between themseves. Desol/Cuirass reduce futher the armor, greatly increasing your damage output. Hyperstone allows you to attack faster (which is nice with your already nice damage) and makes Cranium Basher proc faster. Vladimirs takes advantage of the Armor Reduction to Life Steal more HP, while Cuirass Armor and Cranim Stuns make the enemy hurt you less. I tell you, it's quite the build for 1v1. The last item may depend of how strong your hero is against the enemy, or what your needs are. If they have someone that makes me miss (via Skill or Butterfly) it may be a Monkey King Bar. If I just want more damage, MKB is also the solution. If I need spell inmunity to be abble to do something in the fight, Black King Bar is a nice solution; and if I need extra health, Torrasque would be the answer. I just wanted to share with you a build that was kinda "my main" for a long time with most of the STR Melee heroes (Replacing Cranium and Vladimirs on heroes that had those skills already like Silthereen Guard and Skeleton King); but don't think it's a "pro build" or anything like that. It just gives nice results for normal games. Anyway; you will need to practise a lot, and see other people builds while you play, to understand what are the "best" builds for the heroes; but take in mind that LOTS of items will change depending on the alies and enemies. The Malevolence I just mentioned to you its quite nice for Storm but not a core item, however it becomes really good if there are enemies worth being silenced, for example. | ||
