I still think Warlock makes for a better babysitter (unless your name is riptide kekeke). The heal and excellent slow add a lot to a carry's survivability. He can also solo, since he does want levels in heal + upheaval, and has a pretty good attack animation. Golems are great early game as well and can be used for pushing since very few heroes early on will want to fight the Infernal. Warlock also has relatively good strength growth (2.5), so he survives relatively well. And of course, Fatal Bonds used correctly hurts like hell. Mekansm is the obvious choice, and then utility support items such as Force Staff or Drums. Aghs + Refresher Orb is hilarious but you probably won't reach that stage with Warlock.. After the magic immunity-piercing stuns are done, you have four flaming demons running amok. In 6.71b, they were AA, Doom, Weaver and Invoker if I'm not mistaken. I haven't kept up with the Chinese scene recently. Who are the two aside from Lich nowadays?

After Invoker/Lich/SD come Syllabear/Batrider/Windrunner.

I think Invoker is a little overrated right now after the relevant nerfs. Like it's definitely a very good and solid hero, but I think it's his consistency is what is keeping him up there. Kind of like how SF was, it's there, it can be a problem or it can be just as easily snuffed. Is he meta-defining? Not really, more meta-maintaining.
Weaver/Shadow Demon on the other hand....

How do you disassemble items?
|
Only some items can be disassembled, like Perseverance, which I think you uh....right click or some shit, and it'll drop the void stone/ring of health on the ground in front of you, then you pick up whichever you need as your recipe and then grab the other for later.

Weaver/Shadow Demon on the other hand.... eh, invokers harder to snuff than SF was because you can toss invoker in a side lane with quas and he can do great there. you also dont need a lot of items with him. picking him does slow down the teams timings significantly which is probably his biggest weakness but his usefulness snowballs as the game goes on and on

The strength of warlock lies in his early game high stats, and being able to go shadow word+stats in the lane. You don't have to buy regen items really, and against something like 3xmantle 2x branch you will have a hard time outhitting him, or harassing him, or killing whoever he is babysitting.
He doesn't suffer from low hp or low ms or low range, so he's one of the best to buy chicken...in dota 1 he had one of the cleanest attack animations so it was very, very easy to harass and last hit only what you need [ if babysit ].
His prime in competitive dota has past, but perhaps the best hero of NS [ arguably one of the best support in history ] used warlock to rape games when VP dominated dota1. Chicken, 20+ wards, gem, and still maintaining relevancy.
After the upheaval buff, it's actually one the most underrated skills imo... You cast it immediately after your infernal and if anyone can chain stun at all its pretty much like 70% slow in 2 in-game seconds. It forces the other team to fight, because they simply cannot run away. Also yeah, infernal goes through bkb. I don't like fatal bonds too much.
In modern times and in dota2, he's an ok hero. Still great for lane control. His heal allows you or your lane partner to tank early levels of dual stuns so you can turn and go on them.

What's the item that lets say a dwarven sniper constantly invis without a bottle for runes. Looks like phase boots but I don't think those give invis right?

I've watched some competitive matches now and this brings up a question: At the beginning of the game (even before creeps have spawned) I sometimes see all 5 of Team1 going into the other team's forest where there are only like 2-3 of Team2 and Team1 gets first blood for free. Why does this happen? What's the worth for each team? Why would Team2 put themself into a situation where they do nothing and are vulnerable for "ganks"?

If you send 5 into the enemy/own jungle you will have to TP to the lane at the other side or arrive late (unless you leave very early). So the con is a small loss if you don't score a kill. The reason there are people in the jungle at all is that they want to ward block their pull spawn or other similar spots a bit in.
|
Quick questions:
1. I put -console into the launch options to be able to access the source engine console, but the console is open every time I start up the game. Is there a way to open the game, console-enabled, but not have the console open when I start the program?
2. My courier has no keys bound for "Transfer Item" or "Speed Burst". Is it this way for anyone else? Is there any way to bind these keys?
|
@Mafe There is a back-and-forth going on before the game even starts. In a competitive match, its often important to gain vision in a jungle or deep enemy area of the map. Warding creep spawns for Dire top and Radiant is important as well.
When this first started happening, people could get away with 1 weak support hero just going in the forest to ward it up with no danger, but naturally the game evolved into people needing backup to even place one ward because the other team can counter with 1-5 heroes. All 5 heroes going into a jungle like you saw is just the natural evolution and a small gamble teams take in order to get early kills for pretty small risk. Sometimes teams just throw in 5 man explorations even though they have no intention of warding. And of course there is also the skirmishes that can occur around the rune areas.
@Rgfdxm. Next time you start up dota 2 type in ' con_enable 1 ' This enables you to use console whenever you want and it won't open console when you open dota 2. You can delete -console from your dota2 command line afterwards.
2. It might be an alt tab bug....It seems everyone has different alt tab bugs for typing rofl...but you should be able to set the hotkeys in settings, not to sure on this one.
|
Thanks for the console enable, that was exactly what I was looking for.
I should have given more information about the courier issue. The courier and all its hotkeys work fine when I am on legacy hotkeys, but not when I turn legacy hotkeys off.
Another slight annoyance is that I like to turn on right click deny using the dota_force_right_click_attack console command, but when I exit Dota 2 it forgets that I set it to 1. I have to enter it into the console every time I start up Dota.

Uh...they aren't boots theres only treads bots and phaseboots none make him invis, you're probably talking about lothar's edge which is now called Shadow Blade in dota 2.

Is there a reason why when some people post, the background on the post is in a darker blue than the normal posts? I've noticed this occurs for certain pro-gamers. Is the dark blue a reflection of pro-gamer status?
