Ok... Not really a DotA question, but kinda... That Espectator-Bot thing Valve implemented already in the beta of Dota2, that will delay your vision (as espectator) of the game like 30-60 seconds so he can then decide what fights/engagements/etc are worth showing (specially if there are 2-3 lines fighting at almost the same time), and not missing a single dead occurring it's quite impresive. He can do this since it's like 1 minute of ahead of what is showing and knows what the results of those engaments/fights/etc will be; so if he has to decide he will show the more intensive one or the ones that got kills on them.
Seeing at how it's quite simple and now that I know about it it seems to be so easy to program/create, and such a good/simple idea at the same time... I was wondering... Is Valve's DotA2 the first game to make/include this kind of Espectating Bot that doesn't miss the key moments? I can see ALL games including this from now on.

Nice pseudo-random generator article.
A hero with a Critical Strike ability could fight creeps until a long string of non-Criticals occurred, then head into a team battle with an increased Critical Strike chance for his first attack(s). lulz... It would be the funniest thing ever to pull off in a competitive match.

There were rumor when the international was going on that the bot work based on the players heart rate but it doesnt seem like the case. im pretty sure the bot still miss several key moment but yes, this is the first game ever has obs-bot like this.
The only close example i could think of is the auto camera function in obs-icjug maps in sc2 but they are not even close to this level. Valve is doing a great job on this

Valve is doing a great job on this the german international-commentator said he asked a valve guy how it worked and he told him that it delays the game by 30 secs and then always jumps to the highest prioritized action that happened. ( aka every action (kills, tps etc.) has a place on a priority list)

Who gets the neutral creeps experience? Any hero (from any of the teams) that are near? Any hero (from any of the teams) which team hurt the creep? Or only those from the team that got the killing blow? If only those from the killing blow get the exp, does this mean that Clockwerk missile killing a neutral you are farming does steal not only the gold, but the XP aswel?
And... What are the Day/Night durations? When does the first night start/end?
|
Every hero that is close gets the xp
Day last 6 minute night too
|
The xp is split evenly between all the heroes within 1000 range that are on the team that got the kill. So yes, clockwerks rocket would steal the xp from you.
|
Which is, might I add, freaking hilarious.
Also means it's quite good to snipe the puller's early kills, because you get extra exp from the lane, and the puller/jungler loses out. It can add up to a two level difference if you can do it consistently. I almost think it's better than blocking the jungle completely sometimes.

When do trees respawn? I think to remenber they re-spawned every 5 minutes (5 mins mark, 10, 15, etc...); but I woul say they spawn differently from what I saw on the DotA 2 videos.
They changed it on DotA at some point? It's different on DotA 2 since the engine allows to respawn them individualy after X time? I was wrong and was never on 5 mins marks? I'm wrong an is still on 5 mins maks? (This last one doesn't seem the case on DotA 2)

for dota 1 its still 5 minutes, can't answer for dota 2.

Minor note, if an area is "blocked" then the trees won't respawn. Any unit in the area would stop a tree from re-spawning.

HLTV had a shitty autospectator bot that tried to do the same thing. I don't think the AI was nearly as good, and that game is harder because camera angles are a lot harder to do in 3D instead of choosing a point to watch 2D action.

What reason is there to play easy mode games, besides being new?

They tend to be shorter. The game isn't balanced around the mode though, so it will give a worse experience in most cases.

A few people have been bitching at so many people for being bad. That's why I'm in an easy mode game, at least.
I'm just playing about ten games or so in it to get acclimated to online play, then I'm moving on to regular matches after that, though.

As sentinel, on bottom lane, who pulls the jungle creeps? Supporter or carry?
