Sadly toxic people are just part of the game, the "everyone else is stupid, we can't win like that" attitude is way too common. So the best thing you can often do is ignore them and concentrate on your game and muting helps enormously with that.

The vast majority of my games include 2 carries or 2 mids fighting over farm, afk junglers, leavers or intentional feeders. Flamers and toxics is the best I can hope for. Usually I'll mark offlane or safe before anyone else, only to see someone else pick what I marked for. Sometimes we roll, and if I win they ingnore it and pick anyway, or go afk jungler. Every game feels pre-decided, almost a guaranteed loss. How do I get out of this loop? Ditch the account and use one of my other ones? It seems this account is in a 'shadow pool' of sorts. I have tons of other accounts, but I'm nowhere near the skill level I was when I ranked them.

what you want are some reasonable games and the only way i can see that happening is if you actually improve. i'm sorry, probably the worst answer you would expect. not asking for top 200 on a hero of your choice. just get better at what you do. changing accounts every time you wanna avoid it is way more effort than putting some effort into it here and there, and finally taking it to a new start. i hear about this shadow pool, these mid or feed, or these toxic ass games all the time, but i have yet to queue into it. the only way i can understand it is if somebody has a bad behaviour score and stuck in low rating at the same time. which means the most effective remedy, is to just improve. another thing that might work over time is just muting everyone for a dozen games or so. for the first option pick a hero or several, change your perspective on them, put 30 extra minutes into just thinking about what to do differently and what to put into practice the next time, then the next. for example, i'm not a smart guy and i don't pick stuff up quickly, i never touched invoker before but i went into hero demo and learned the tornado comboes in ~30 minutes of sitting down and figuring it out from scratch and looking up what other people do for spell combos. "okay, i know a usual combo from streams and watching dota for a long time could be, tornado, emp, sunstrike, meteor, and deafening blast into whatever. so how do i cast these spells starting from tornado? how do i make them tight and keep orb juggling to a min to make execution easier to memorize?" rote memory worked and at the end of it i felt really confident that i had memorized most of the spells and am at the step of figuring out how to lane it, which previous experience playing mid/core also helps with. something that seemed daunting or unlike me was really just that easy that entire time. 4+ years of playing dota, and i thought this hero would be a big big mountain to climb the entire time. to sort of prove that point, i went to another friend with the same idea. he also hadn't ever touched the hero before and ended up learning same steps in that same amount of time.

I have tons of other accounts, but I'm nowhere near the skill level I was when I ranked them. A friend of mine fixed this, with a little trick that no one in the mysterious "shadow pool" wants to use: PLAY SUPPORT! ![]() He had the same problems, bad games, rude idiots and generally at least half the game ruined. He then started to play support only, making sure he plays well - at least ward well, smoke a bit and be ready to TP for dives. Didn't take very long to be out of the shits and on a slightly better path, where he gets to pick a core again every now and then without too much bullshit. However, in order to get out of that trouble range - you might not have much of a choice except being willing to support.

Videos probably won't help -- just play the game itself a bit and you'll get the hang of things. I quit for about 3 years too and swam my way back up the knowledge stream.

Don't think there is anything really discussing the changes since then. Purge and DotaCinema produce some relevant content but they aren't really made with a focus of this kind. I would also suggest just booting up a few games and getting started. Dota is enjoyed while playing. Would recommend the same as for new players, pick very few heroes to get used to things again. Read abilities in pre-game screen and while dead. If you really want to watch something the Chongqing Major qualifiers are running right now. Just watch a few games to see the new map, abilities and which heroes are strong in organised play.

If I have a very low behavior score, or LP games left on one account, will this affect the other one I use it on?

I've been spamming Turbo games. Completely stopped being toxic, if team is flaming each other I don't talk at all. But there's always someone who will grudge-report me even if I'm not speaking and minding my own business. Usually an amulet afker. Almost every single game I'll get reported even if I'm on my best behavior. Is it even possible to escape F behavior score bracket? Fuck it, someone point me to an account buying site.

I tried shadow shaman helping out with shackles, but I just tip over and die if they even look at me. Is support the hardest role? Do I need to last hit more as support unless I have a carry in safe lane? Any advice on what support character is a nice start with some items in mind? I see Dazzle and Lion is high on dotabuff, but not sure if that's only in decent hands.

Try to be in fog when the fight starts. If you "tip over and die if they even look at me", don't let them look at you for free. Once the fight is underway, position yourself so that other players can help if you get jumped. If their carry goes all-in on killing you and dies as a result, you did your job. Finally, build into an item that buys you a few seconds in a bad position. Depending on the matchup, glimmer cape, ghost scepter and force staff can all be good options. If an enemy spends precious BKB time and ability cooldowns chasing you without killing you, that's often as good as stunning them.

Thanks, I watched purge play shadow shaman and learned a bit what you said, how he waited so much. It's hard to know when it's time for your stuff, but if waiting in shadows, having an item to bait their abilities and killing me is the answer that helps me understand the perspective. What I think I learned the most, is how he took his time going putting wards and didn't care that much for xp/gpm. I feel likeif I don't stay in lane, leveling up, getting denies it just spirals out of controls. But I do have more forgiveness there as a support? Do you have any advice on what support heroes not to choose during certain matchups? It's probably impossible to say that, but if you look at top 20 picks, does that narrow it down better? If I had a pool of 3 support heroes to pick from, depending on enemy team, that would be sweet, but I have no clue at all.

Whole enemy team picks invis heroes. My team picks pushers. Everyone heads down mid and starts pushing while enemies seem to be afk. They ping me to join them. Turns out, the guys on my team are a 4stack and the enmies are a 5stack. All russians. The match in question: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4304176428 Anyone have any idea what they were doing and why? I assume some kind of boosting, but in turbo, and why?
