We were in the pack of biggest favorites Won the group Just weren't ready for iG and their Alch (go re-watch the games, they picked AA just to prevent alch, totally screwing their whole own style) The "haters" were just attention whoring, doubt anyone was serious really

Even at TI7 people were like " China is on Another level, Liquid cant beat them". But even the bandwagon haters cant say anything anymore. Lets not even start with certain people in this Forum, who were hating on Liquid, just to annoy me. Is this childish of me? Probably? Do i care? Hell no;) Feeeeeeels gooooooood mannnnnn

I doubt anyone who has a clue was actually serious Just needling/wanting attention and you jump on it We were the TOP6 Expected Juggernaut who was supposed to do well according to most bookies + experts. A great sustainable organization and team who stuck through hard times and peaked right before/during TI. This was no Wings/CDEC/DC Story. Or has-beens like Na'Vi or Alliance who struggled in groups after falling from the top. Just one of the favorites taking it down, according to everyone but attention whores and trolls.

Eh, I do actually think Liquid was underrated. Maybe they earned enough credibility where people didn't completely dump on them but there seemed to always be someone else that people preferred over Liquid whether it was VP, EG, LGD, LFY, or Newbee. It didn't bother me much but it was something that was definitely there. They won every LAN after Kiev including the last one before TI. Liquid should've been the clear favorites, not Top 6. Anything less than being the clear favorites is underrating them. Who else could it have been? Did any other team even come close to having the same results leading up to TI?

Bookies etc. expected them to do well Bulldog put them as TI winners on his stream for example etc. With how close Dota is all you can do is expect a team to be among the favorites and then it's anyone's game, nobody would be surprised...The odds for the TOP6 teams were very close And just EG/OG Bombed out. It's extremely unlikely there will ever be a dominant team in Dota like Alliance and Na'Vi were Just teams that are among the best that happen to get lucky/better prepared/perform better on the day. Just like now nobody will expect Liquid to crush every Major and Minor But to be among the best that will win on a good day, get good finishes on the others and occasionally struggle like OG+EG

Everyone expected Liquid to do well on the TI7 but it just seemed there was always someone else that they preferred. I think saying Liquid are the clear favorites is different from saying they'll completely dominant. It just means based on the fact they won every LAN they attended leading up to TI, they look like the team most likely to win. But instead of hearing about Liquid, it felt like I kept hearing about EG, OG, LGD, LFY, and VP. Maybe I didn't listen to panels long enough but that's just the vibe I got.

Only Lfy outperformed them in the groupstages, but they also showed more, so in my mind, Liquid was the favourite heading into the main event. After the series vs iG though and especially after the series vs Secret, it would've required some serious fanboy glasses to see them as anything close to favourites. Of course their run feels inevitable now, but they might just as well have lost to Secret and come away from TI as the biggest underperformers alongside EG. Dota's a rough game.

This was vs Secret during Game3 We got raped game1, Alched game2 third game were losing the laning stage without alch and during the worst of it I said this On August 09 2017 08:24 LemOn wrote: I feel like if Liquid loses this one it will become very hard to get even TOP6. But if they win, they'll win TI Of course the first like was a joke (they'd be out) But I definitely meant the 2nd one - It was such a huge boost to their morale, and we all knew all well they have plenty of pre-scrimmed and practiced strategies in the tank. And they'd be up against disappointed teams that lost momentum from WB. So yeah call it fanboy glasses or whatever But the series made me believe their shares were super hot. My last prediction was just wrong - I expected to roll over people and then have a close finals vs WB Newbee. But Kuro destroyed them with G1 draft, and literally made them lost and on the verge of tears even before the GF properly started

Yea they were one of the stronger teams, one of those you could imagine winning TI, but they didn't have the same invincible/dominant aura that navi 2012, alliance 2013, dk 2014 and wings 2016 had. Who was more of a favourite for you then? I was hoping for this all along, and been on Liquid since BW - so, I'm probably pretty biased. However, Liquid was the team with by far the best and most promising run before TI. invincible - maybe not. dominant (last months before TI) - sure af. I would clearly say they were favourites for sure. Maybe not a sure pick to win, but in every single ranking and prediction in the top3 - so I strongly disagree with your statement saying they weren't favourites. I do slightly agree with the invincibility part - but still feel like they seemed like the team with that had their shit together the most coming into TI.
