Congratulations though. Definitely a boost to their morale.

I'm happy that they won the tournament, but I'm not impressed by their heavy reliance on one strategy. Such styles are not sustainable and cracks will appear once patches change or when they get figured. Hope to see actual improvement in their overall gameplay from them. Congratulations though. Definitely a boost to their morale. I guess all those who asked for Loda and Akke to retire are in hiding or magically change their minds and shut up. The thing here is: - Did they unexpectedly rose their performance due to nothing in particular? Maybe some strangling? (j/k) - Had the patchs' changes an impact in the meta game that let them use a different pool of heroes and strategies they are better at? - Will this keep up? Will they fall once again? Will other teams rise to their level or even higher and make them look bad again? Only time will tell. I hope they can keep delivering.

It is impossible to ban Naga, Furion, Batrider, Io, all at the same time. The strategy can be sustainable. not that they only used split push, the bristleback + kotl, for example, played very nice.

Imo based on their online play before the Frankfurt major I would have expected them to be capable of similar wins even at Frankfurt. For whatever reason at that time they crumbled on LAN, but in general I don't think Alliance being capable to take wins over those teams is a big surprise. Of course a tournament win is a big confidence boost and one can hardly blame Alliance for Secret struggling and bombing out in groups (beating an on form Secret would have made the run more impressive given previous tournament results). But I'm curious where they fit in once they face VG, EHOME and all the western teams that were at the Summit but not at WCA, and also when teams become a bit more used to the patch. The win is great for them, but looking at the teams they faced it's also hardly something that seemed out of the realm of possibility when you look at their results before Frankfurt.(trading games with OG, VP, beating TL in the Frankfurt quals, etc.)

In the groups they beat MVP, tied against DC and lost against TL. Then they beat CDEC, Wings and LGD. Wings was sort of the surprise of the event in the groups but was soundly beaten in the end by Alliance and TL, LGD has been quite underwhelming ever since TI (though they did beat Empire and TL here) and CDEC has also been steadily behind the best teams in the world. At the moment it feels like anyone's game, and on a good day, top teams are a huge leap ahead. But on a bad day they are equally behind. This was not the case before the patch. Minor patches rarely has this impact, but major ones often do, haven't seen one as volatile as 6.86 in a while tho. Alot of teams are considered top teams at the moment, and the difference between them in rank is pretty flat. Ofc some rise above the others, but in general it's alot more even than in TI or Frankfurt major. Making alliances run hard to measure. Making most top teams hard to measure.
