We're doing some very creative plays but it's obvious that everyone's not on the same page in teamfights. Things are quite messy. But yeah, the oracle games have been great fun to watch ![]()

Well, I was worried for a while that I'd just been colored by nostalgia, and that TI3 Alliance wasn't everything I remembered they were. I was worried they hadn't really been all that good, and that they'd just been ahead of their time. Maybe even that the style of gameplay wasn't that great, and memory was exaggerating things. All those worries were completely misplaced. That was one of the single most gorgeous games of DOTA2 that I think I've ever watched. Alliance played together perfectly and just dismantled CDEC. It's not like the clumsy Chinese stallfests that we saw from that era, or the overaggressive rat play from old Fnatic. It was a perfect balance of movements, keeping pressure up steadily while not missing a second of farm, taking fights and pickoffs when it was suitable and calmly accepting losses when they happened. It was elegant, it was graceful, it was inspirational, and dammit, I wish every game was like that. Well, okay, maybe not every game. Anything can get stale in overabundance. All the same, that's the kind of play that makes me come back and keep watching. Oh, and let me just add: the game is really easy to interpret for newer players when it's like this. Fights are more strung-out and there are smaller skirmishes, so you get to see heroes use their abilities solo and see what they actually do rather than have fifty of them being used all at once and interacting in strange ways. Most of the game is just hero movement, which is relatively intuitive. This is the style of gameplay that can get new fans. Structured play has a lot of value to it.
