Beside that, Fly and BigDaddy is a friend. I highly doubt that. Imo both their drafts were extremely unforgiving, and I don't think one should put down coL's performance too much. They had 2 good drafts and they knew how to play them. But as the game didn't really matter, it's possible that the losses even turn out being good for c9. They've been 1st picking Gyro and winning with it every game, and now coL gave them Gyro twice and beat c9. Not that c9 couldn't win those games with really good play, but imo coL's way of dealing with it was pretty smart. They had Lina+Sven who can kill the Gyro pretty much all game long really quickly, and Sven also protects his team from Gyro's damage. Of course also their other heroes worked well, but those 2 in particular were very good picks against the Gyro opening. If c9 manages to get their draft right in the later stages they can do well, but it does seem quite shaky for them at the moment. Also one thing to consider is that if CDEC wins group B, will they actually pick to play c9 because c9 lost to coL like this? I still think that even with CDEC's good showing, c9 would rather play them than face EG (if EG ends up 2nd in the group).

It seems EG selected to play coL. So c9 plays CDEC first round. Not to mention that EG and Secret are both on the other side of the bracket. c9 has to beat CDEC and LGD/VP/Empire to guarantee themselves top3 by getting to upper bracket finals. Not that it will be easy of course, but I don't think they could have gotten a better road in the upper bracket than this. Their confidence against LGD shouldn't be bad at all given how their series against them went on the first day. But first have to beat CDEC of course.

I expect them to crash and burn. Top 12 exit, unless they get a weaker team in the lower bracket, in which case they will finish Top 8. Edit: I guess I was being a bit harsh, but to elaborate, in the past they had a very unique style that was not duplicated by any other team. This made them a wildcard capable of upsetting top teams. They were the team that came up with so many innovations like a farming 4 position (way before zai made it fashionable) where the carry rotates into the jungle and clears the lane for the 4 pos, drow visage, and probably the only team running Meepo on a regular basis in top tier games. Their split pushing and greed was second to none, and they always extracted more from the map than any other team. Right now, I don't see a single thing that differentiates them from the other teams. The either win the draft and roll the game, or lose the draft and get rolled over. Vs top tier teams, they get out executed on a regular basis, and make the sloppiest of plays, getting picked around the map. Misery has been excellent and N0tail mediocre, but as a support duo, their warding has been some of the worst among all the teams in this TI. You can regularly see C9 have 0 map vision for like 2 minutes at a stretch (as early as 6-7 minutes), even when the opposite team has no gem. And then the cores get repeatedly picked off. In the past this was justified by their insane map utilization where Singsing and Aui would use the space created by Envy and B7 to get uberfarmed, but now they are not getting any useful trades like they did in the past. Today's game vs Complexity was probably the worst I have seen in a while.

I mean I've been a fanboy of them since their Kaipi days with CWM + Arteezy, but at no point in their history have they looked as mediocre as they are looking right now. I expect them to crash and burn. Top 12 exit, unless they get a weaker team in the lower bracket, in which case they will finish Top 8. I think they look everything but mediocre, from awful to brilliant. Drafting is still not looking good, but mainevent is another beast. They should match up well against cdec, I think there's reason for optimism. *Saw your edit. I agree that there are issues around warding, col demonstrated how much effective warding can do for you. But more worrying is drafting, I think. C9 had 3-4 of the worst laning stages in the tournament, not helped by frequently giving away first blood in early skirmishes. Furthermore, there's a tendency of drafting lineups that can't really win from behind or if the game goes late. Still, I don't think you should read too much into todays results against coL, the match was for bragging rights (outside a very unlikely series of results). Their 'unique' style of splitpushing has died with mapchanges and metashifts. None the less, I think there are still plenty of unique C9 ideas and drafts. At times I wish they would use more fotm-style line-ups to lower the variance in the outcome of their drafts.

Today's game vs Complexity was probably the worst I have seen in a while. My opinion is that they got outdrafted twice against coL pretty hard. The games were close to impossible to play once the lanes broke down and coL got some farm up. They didn't even do anything terribly bad playwise imo. Their games against LGD for example were such that if they were to face in the playoffs, I don't think at all that LGD is obviously going to win. c9 played very well for large portions of that series, and was extremely close to winning both games. They've had some draft issues, but if they can manage to put together decent drafts then I don't see why they wouldn't be able to beat CDEC. And as I said, their games against LGD gave me the impression that anything can happen if they meet again, and against Empire c9's record is very strong.

That explains why he is the only one with no interview from the HTC bootcamp, well played!
