c9 did lose a lot of elimination series to EG with the old lineups but "ultrarekt" never really happened. In fact EG never beat c9 on LAN without c9 at least winning 1 map.

T_T would really love some victory before TI. yeah T_T
they already own CIS too much .. would be nice if they won a championship against a TI contender team

Empire is still a TI 1st place contender even with their missteps against VP. Noone wins 100% of the time.

Disagree, Empire is good vs teams who don't know how to handle their agression. Their style is perfectly countered by teams like Secret, VP and C9 (who are yet to lose a BO3 in the last 2 patches to Empire). On the other hand, EG and Chinese teams struggle vs them though.
Maybe if they get a perfect bracket where they dont meet any of Secret/VP/C9, perhaps they may reach TI finals.

maybe if the bracket allows them to dodge c9 and secret they are good.
i'm not saying that it's not possible but there chances aren't as high as secret or eg

Not really talking about their level of play here, which looked good but is to early to judge. More about their attitude: The last matches vs Nip and VP really gave me the impression that they had fun together and that they were pretty confident in themselves ( maybe the bootcamp helped set their differences aside). BDN's tweet also has a really positive undertone. Obviously you shouldn't analyse to much into a bo3, a bo5 and one tweet, but they really gave a positive vibe off. Atleast that's how it felt for me. I hope that they became more confident in themselves, because that is something they always kinda lacked off.

I don't really want to rain on your parade but I believe dotapit is running true DE this season, meaning that for c9 to win they need to win 2 bo5s.

i think it's not that they don't believe in themselves more like they don't believe in each other and too many people making calls

I've seen someone else say this as well, but I didn't find an actual source for it. Is it actually true?
Proper double elim with bo5s seems incredibly stupid though. If they wanted to do that I think they would have just run bo3s all the way and final is proper double elim with 2 bo3s. Potentially playing two long bo5 series seems way too long for anyone to think it is a good idea.

for example WLWLW(bracket reset)WLWLW would win c9 the tournament
2 bo5s is a crazy amount of dota though and it seems hard to budget your time when you don't know whether it's going to be 3 games or 10 games

They didn't have a single game there without shades of Clown 9 plays though, either because of bad early games or, more typical, near-throws in the early-mid after gaining quite a good advantage. They would've lost these games against EG, so although their performance was nice, they still need to improve a bit. I rarely see perfectly executed games from start to end from C9 like Secret or EG are able to pull off, but I think they're principally good enough to perform like them.

On the plus side, odds will be great for TI.
