A couple questions.
1) is Dota2 going to be based on an ladder instead of a pug list like the original ( I think I already know the answer but assuming can be bad)
2) whats this game going to be like for someone new to Dota like me. I have been out of the Dota scene now for 3+ years tried to join recently and just couldn't grasp the new scene enough to be interested.
3) Chances of actually getting competitive after picking it up vs the vast amount of 7+ year players going into it.
4) best option for preparing to attempt to be a competitive dota 2 player

Q: Any confirmation from a reliable source that Dota2 will be Free2play? Can't seem to find any
|
i vote to keep this thread over the other one.

4) best option for preparing to attempt to be a competitive dota 2 player 1. No one knows, no information has been released yet. 2. If you've played dota before, it will be similar and you won't have trouble transitioning, at least that's what I've heard. 3. If you play it everyday and are willing to learn from pros/replays, then there's still a chance. The 7+ years players are not all competitive, just saying. 4. Watch clan wars, learn all the heroes, learn items, and be prepared to have to play everyday ^^

1) not really known, but as you said it - everyone assumes there will be a "proper" ladder.
2) you will have to find out yourself - asking what your experience with the game will be is just a guessing game. just give it a try
3) the chances are low, but not because other people played the game that much longer, but because the game is hard to learn and not many peoply have the ambition, talent and time required to get good enough. if you feel you have those three, nothing will stop you.

So basically jump into current dota and don't bother with any of the other games in the meantime for practice.
|
lol i already made one. meh this ones better.
|
that is your best bet, yeah.

I can't wait for Dota 2, after playing the others i have forgotten how great the first one was. Is there any idea as to how much it will cost? I just imagine the price of usual new game?

tl dota shall live again!
i hope there's a clan nudge feature.
|
Yea with enough clan/esport built in support I think dota 2 will be a great sigh of relief for a lot of people currently sick of the lack of these options in Sc2.
That's the main reason I would switch, Bnet 2.0 leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I assume Icefrog knows how much these features would be appreciated.

@redFF: paper maintained the dota thread on this forum for over 3 years with updates and polls, he also added everything for hon that he was asked to add - and he does not play that game. he is reliable, a veteran, and he deserves to continue the tradition. your claim is solely slamming down a thread first, and when confronted with the "issue" you say "typical dota community right there" - why did you make the thread again?
|
Never mind... I got my answer
|
YESSSSSSSSSSs!! Finally a good 2nd MOBA... And the trailer is just EPicosity!
|
Here's to this thread beating the old one's page count.
No rpf's allowed

it gets more epic every day. first the announcement of the tourney, then the artwork, then the screenshots, and now the trailer. the hairs on my end are standing straight
|
"3. Do not use the terms "MOBA" and "champion" Thank you paper!!!

Hey in your links it's the same for steam TL group and steam dota 2 TL group, I think you linked the wrong one for the TL steam group

1) Yes, I'm pretty sure DotA 2 will have a matchmaking system similar to HON's system
2) I think DotA has evolved a lot in 3 years. It is definately not as gank oriented as it was. There is definitely a lot more farming as it was back then, but there is still a lot of ganking going on.
3) It'll be hard since there are going to be a lot of competittive HON/LoL/current DotA players switching over. Still, once new players get the hang of it, I'm sure there will be fresh faces in the competitive community.
4) Watch replays and analyze what the players do, practice

I have noticed that the 2 different sides have different heroes on 'their side' (scourge\sentinel?) But in any serious game mode both sides have access to all heroes right?
