Imagine a bell curve with 0 being on one end and 7 being on the other. What I do is check the cemetary first to see if the rare there is up. Then check for the watch tower. If I get at least 2 stacks, either 1 from cem and 1 from wt or 2 from wt, I continue farming. If I get 0-1 stack then I remake.

When i make an act 1 run, i proceed like this - Launch the last quest before the butcher - Festering wood (usually out with 4-5 NV) - Cemetery (the 3 crypts) - Quick check at old tristram for caves - Leoric mansion (you go back until you reach the leoric hunting ground - Halls of agony level 2 until the butcher. +-40min run

Basically the one you take to kill Zultan Kulle. Look for the Vault of the Assassin in the Desolate Sands area. Once you get the checkpoint in there, as long as you don't go to any other area in the quest line and don't kill Kulle, you'll start each new game inside VotA and won't have to look for it. VotA has great elite density. I've had as many as 13 in there once, and usually at least 7 each time. Areas after that are up to personal preference. I personally clear Ancient Path (goblin), Road to Alcarnus (goblin + 1-2 elites), the sewer next to the Path to Oasis WP (goblin + 1-3 elites), Black Canyon mines and both areas north and south. Ruins dungeon (not 100%) in North is great for elites + resplendent, and there's usually 3-4 in South. Plus mines has 2-4 elites + goblin chance. Lastly, and sometimes I don't do this, I clear the Oasis. The Oasis is hit and miss depending on the dungeons that spawn. Mysterious cave/flooded cave/Tomb of Kwan something are great. Overall good for anywhere from 6-10 elites depending on dungeon spawns. Overall, run usually takes me 35-45 minutes depending on if I do Oasis or not.

I assume when an item drops 1- item type is rolled (probably equal chance for each slot..?) 2- item level is determine (per released info) 3- item quality determined (no info released) 4- item affixs determined and rolled (range determined by iLvL) I'm curious since as far as we know, there are no iLvL 63 legendaries, so 'optimal' farming of them would be in Act 2 probably ASSUMING the drop rate chance for L/S is the same between acts... Or if the rolls are even separate.

I'm not talking about the magi, but about the invisible melee "naga", that aren't attackable unless they are in melee range?

When you see/hear them, you have to move and kite as you were attacking them, when they appear, you will be out of their range and will be able to kill them easily. When they are numerous, do the same and quickly launch invisibility to be sure. Also, having a templar with you to tank some shots helps a lot!

The trick is to start with the Blood and Sands quest and then find the VotA. If you quit without completing the quest (i.e. don't take the blood), you will spawn inside the VotA the next time you log in. The downside is that if you do another quest (lets say you grp with a friend elsewhere), you need to find the VotA again. After you clear the VotA, you can jump to earlier waypoints like the start of the Desert (where there is sometimes a goblin) and Black Canyon Mines where you can quickly find elites. I tend to like Act II farming because I can run it with high MF gear and I basically don't die unless I mess up. If I farm Act III (Cyndaea and Azmodan), I need to use my full gear and there is the occassional frustration of pulling an elite Phase Beast pack near the Tower entrances. Maybe once my DPS hits the 80k mark (without SS), I can think of doing Act III more often.

When I see the "shiver" on the screen, I activate gloom and start firing. Gloom will keep me alive if I get hit. More DPS also helps.
