I have hit a wall at act 1 inferno with my barbarian and I know I need to farm more gear to progress which I'm totally willing to do.
My question is this, I have Whimsyshire Hell unlocked, do you think it would be better to farm this place for gear or should I be running act 4 hell?
I haven't done a lot of testing, but the NV buff just doesn't seem to apply in whimsyshire, where those last couple bosses in hell with the 5 stack NV drop a ton of loot, the level in whimsyshire should be higher.
Any advice?
And I know I should have used the 850k I spent to unlocked hell mode whimyshire on the AH and I would be fine now, lets just ignore that :-)

tried it maybe once, didnt get anything usefull besides money. NV works in there tho but its act1. will probly try again at some point, but the level is so annoying, these colors hurt my brain.

i wonder this myself. i farmed inferno butcher a few times, clearing 5 blue/yellow packs on the way to have those 5 stacks mf find, but even when i get a shitload of yellow stuff, its all lvl 56-59. how much can that help ...

Whimsyshire is basically act 4 except easier. i wouldn't dump 200k into it just yet though. Or 500k w/e. It costs more than it's worth for hell.

I would try to farm act 1 inferno. It is really not that difficult with the right build. Especially the first half.
Just buy some blues with all resist and a semi decent weapon.

I am running about 300-350 resists, 30k life, but my dps is down to less than 5k. Should that be enough to get me through act 1?
I have been getting crap luck with the elites champion packs I think. Lots of Shielding Arcane Plague combos. Maybe I'm just getting unlucky but it has been 5+ deaths per pack and that just doesn't seem right.

buy better gear from GAH or farm Act 4 Hell
your gear isn't sufficient to adequately handle A1 Inferno

I had 450 resist, 30k life and 8k dps when I did act 1. It was pretty easy with that.
If there is an elite pack that is just too annoying, just skip it.

I bought a 980 dps 2h weap but then when I realized I couldn't live without a shield I couldn't find much for a 1h. I think I'm at around 550 dps with the 1H. My issue is that to get the resists I needed to sacrifice so much dps.
To be clear, I know my gear sucks. I just want to know if I would be better off farming Act 4 hell or Whimsyshire hell?

farm act 1 inferno, it has better loot than act IV hell by a significant margin, farm SK, start with the crown quest, you will have 5 stacks of nephalim valor by the time you reach him, and decent stuff drops in the cathedral. (It's not really worth it imo to farm material prior to the crown quest since there are so few rare/champion packs, and the 75% you get is pretty significant, even for chests/barrels/regular mobs.) You might also want to try to get some passive MF/GF gear. I am sitting at a pasive 85% MF on my char (which is so nice once you get an additional 75% from the nephalim buff). Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference.

It should be standard practice to have a set of MF gear to swap into before you kill any rares/elites/bosses also, I carry a full suit of MF gear in my bag and swap it all on before the kill and it puts me up to 225%. Seems to make a big difference.
Also 550 dps is way low for inferno, you can pick up 800-850 dps weapons for about 400k now thanks to all the aspect farmers.

i think the standard procedure is to farm SK till you have good enough gear to do butcher runs. Do that for a LONG time. Unless you get super lucky. Then try act2.

So they nerfed azmodan xp runs. What is the best XP run for leveling up? So far it seems that act 2 quest road alcarnus lt. vachem is best one i can find. any one else find good xp runs?

Act 1 Quest 7, you kill the mage then the 3 elites after, and you get the quest reward, takes about 3 minsish to do if you don't die to the elites, and nets you 90-100k exp.

Either act 2 zultan kulle runs, if you do this with others you can exploit and turn this quest in a boatload of times just off of one kill (with 2 people you can turn it in 8 times with clever game switching, it is complicated tho and I haven't tried it yet). Or if playing alone, act 3 quest 1 (nightmare) siege bastion runs, this is a 20 second run where you let a cannon barrage kill a bunch of mobs for you, you can do this all the way from 25 to 60 as the experience stays profitable because you get a multikill bonus which scales with level.

If you want a good place to farm with crap gear, try the underbridge. It's a real easy run for a demon hunter (Use vault and smokescreen so you dont have to fight), check the underbridge for resplendet chest. Underbridge not there, or no chest in it -> leave game, resume game. Rinse and repeat.
Easiest run ever, if you want you can let tyrael clear mobs for you while you are dead.
Edit: You want to do this on inferno difficulty btw. You don't need to have act 3 unlocked, just use the 'exploit' to get into the game. Im not going into detail here, it has been said a thousand times how to do it.

Wow siege run is amazing, gaining levels ever 5 min (i'm lvl 47).

Still low on resists and maybe armor for Act 2 Inferno (wasps & serpents rape me). Just doing 5stack jailer/butcher runs at a fast pace. The annoying aspect is more of the gear that drops does not have the coveted +allres stat, or if it does, it's on a blue with only 1 secondary stat that is abysmal. Nets you about 50k gold per run with low mf/gf like me (May invest in some MF gear to shorten my time here). Found most of the gear that replaced my 50-59 gear there. Every run find at least one item that sells for 25k+ on the AH, with patience that's 2 items for that price or much more (though with 10item limit that's debatable).
Curious if any of those Level10 blacksmith patterns have a chance to spawn PimaryStat/Vit/AllRes mods in it. At helms crafted for 51k and others about the same, could be a viable alternative. Just not gonna dump 400k to find out what the best I can hope for is.
