I'm also curious about the WW build. Anyone tried it with Life Leech? I mean Whirlwind uses 13% LoH and the Tornados use 20% LoH, if my spreadsheet is correct. Stacking Leech to 10-15% (2-3 "real" % in inferno) is way cheaper than getting 1500-2000 LoH. I'm not sure how to calculate, because i never used WW and am a math noob in general.
Is the leech calculated from all damage done no matter what by the way? Or does it also vary from skill to skill like LoH?
I'm aiming for a not too expensive Frenzy+WW build to farm at least Act II. Atm i'm doing it with a Thrower but it got boring. Good thing is, the gear is nearly the same for the WW and Thrower build.
Also i'd like to thank all helpful people (first of all TheYango) in this thread. I didn't post much but learned a lot in here! TL awesome as always.

I would figure it could become better with more dps and with more enemies getting hit, but it seems it would be worse when there are few enemies to fight. I wouldn't know for sure since I plan to only stick with life on hit. EDIT: I just saw someone on blizzard's diablo forums saying the life leech will work, from 2 weapons and a mighty belt, so it could be worth trying.
I haven't spent much money on my Barbarian and Act 2 is really easy with sprint/WW, and goes by somewhat quickly.

somehow blizzard gotta make that money. cant let people play that game like that want. where are we? diablo 2? hell no ...
Once you're tanky enough with a shield, you can get a good second 1-hander to switch into when you want more damage. Then against trash and easy champs/elites, you can dual wield, and against really hard champs/elites you can use the shield. Just a single right-click and you're set.

full tank 1h/shield just switching into dual wield results in something like 16k dps -> 20k dps. not even remotely worth it for the lose of that block. i think you want at least 30k dps, 800allres (with shout) and 1000 loh (those numbers are absolutely minimum), to be viable with ww build in act 3/4, especially in a coop game. good luck doing this with the gold ah, especially nowadays, where drops have gotten so shitty its almost funny.

So I stumbled across a thread on reddit where this guy said he was trying out random builds to play d3 in because he was bored. I then discovered that there was a "button" on the skill calculator page on the diablo 3 official website that when pressed, would generate a random spec for your class. So i tried this one http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bZUSiT!Wge!YZaZcb and I have to say it was quite fun and a bit more challenging to use skills you almost never touch and attempt to beat farm elites in act 1 inferno.
Probably gonna try more when i get bored of farming for gear and while it may be slower its better than boring myself out

In terms of having extra DPS not being "worth it", You can also have two 1-handers with life on hit, which with the extra attack speed from dual wielding can more than double the life on hit you had with the 1-hand+shield. So you take like 50% more damage without a shield, but your self healing can become twice as good(revenge aside). in the end the mitigation trade-off isn't so bad considering you get like 25% more damage, and keeping in mind you can switch at any time with ease.
Also I'm not referring to the ww build, I'm talking about a standard tank build grabbing a 1-hander to dual wield with when tanking is easy.

Ahaha so the 1600 str 600 vit WW barb didn't really work out too well.
I could run the ballista part no problem. Big open area, you have to really make sure your WW carefully, i.e. NOT into hard-hitting mobs during their wind-up (i.e. cut straight line do NOT spin in small circles) You will feel like a melee dps hero, very squishy but the output is descent and you run blazing fast.
I run around mostly with sprint and I herded 3 elite packs with about 60 goats behind me, dodging them mostly and only dipping into the mob slightly with my WW when I know I can't die. I continue to use WW to phase through things, didn't really turn back to fight the elites (cuz they will 1 shot me AHahA) so I kept running! I killed the ballistas with uber micro and kept running through the rekki crossing, never losing fury and kept going and going. I was super-saiyan for about full 6 minutes.
Then I kiklled the siege beast with my ass-attacking micro (use ww to phase to his butt, and keep hitting his butt and don't face him front)
I have 2.8k dps 9k armour 650 avg resist 560 LOH 2.8k HP
Just be VERY careful where you are WW into. be VERY delicate, even more delicate than a raged caster because you are a squishy melee caster.
Anyways gonna buy more HP and resist and LOH item now, the problem now is ranged elemental guys that I can't chase down. After that I think I can fight more elites no problem Now I can only fight elites if there are like 40 mobs around them for the extra leech
Also a funny idea (if you dare to run w/o fury generator -- very risky) is to take ovwerpor-crushingAdvance. That is basically ignore-pain + revenge combined, AND with 0 cd cuz you crit all the time. That's how I managed to kill ghom (i switched out my WotB with ovrpwr)
very fun build haha! feels very fluid.

k is from kilo, which means 1000.
I hope you mean 28k and not 2.8k

found these recently, not sure if i should keep em or sell em the res roll is godly and if i get another piece of the set ill get that 60 bonus which is sick... but then this could also be worth quite a bit of gold or cash so i dunno

Has anyone completed the Immortal king set yet?
|
The full set bonus is horrible right now so I doubt anyone is actively trying to complete it except to see how it looks.
|
|
well the whole set bonus blows, but the two piece bonus is pretty nice

I'm still having trouble understanding why some set and legendaries are so bad...
I got Andariel's visage this morning. I can't understand why everyone was going insane over this helm about a month ago.
And... 5 life per fury spent.. So you spend your whole ball and you get 500 health back? Whoop-dy shmuggah-boo?!
|
Because IAS used to be by far the best stat, so any legendary with that stat is going to be great.
Set bonuses will most likely be MASSIVELY buffed (to broken-status) in the future.

What are you taking about? That replenishes 50 % of every DH's health. Huehuhuehuehue

Does anyone know of a good forum or place to discuss hardcore builds for barbs ? Im having a hard time finding discussions on builds that are viable in hc outside of kripparian vids. Kripparian vids are ok but I was looking for discussion on the usefulness of inspiring presence vs tough as nails as my last passive. Also I've been running an EQ WotB combo for packs and I'm curious as to when that loses viability in favor of other things. I've never played SC past level 10 so just wondering if anyone knew of an active forum to discuss this alternate game mode
P.s. right now I'm at 44k hp 530 resist all (610 fire) 9.7k armor (with tough as nails instead of inspiring presence) 10k dps 4% melee reduction
About how far Can this take me assuming i play carefully and avoid /reset deadly packs? I'm just before the butcher but I wanted to bump my dps a bit to beat his enrage safely

What's a good 2H build? I have pretty good tank gear with some crit now, decent amount of str, just got a pretty good 2H from a friend so I wanna give 2H a shot. Is it the WOTB/EQ build where you just blow things up in your Cds? or like leap/ignore pain and kill stuff that way?
if anyone cares that's the 2H + Show Spoiler +

my 2h skill build which can clear act3/4 easy is
ignore pain / ww - blood funnel / WOTB - insanity / War cry - impunity / frenzy - side arm / leap - iron impact
