I have to ask why arcane orb over magic wep, and why astral presence.
I would think you lose a lot of dmg from not having magic wep, and since you are archon why use astral for more arcane power?
Hmm interesting, you mind posting the weapon with +life on it so I can look for something similar?
Even though archon is 'almost' always up. I find that the utility that orb brings when I am not in archon form helps me too much. I'm going by feeling but it seems to me that when I am fighting damage reflect elites or ranged mobs (spear guys, fat caster guys, bird firebals, etc.)
I can cast an orb (rather than waiting for tornado to hit - it is very random in open areas) and then can dodge projectiles with ease. I do whatever it takes to NOT DIE - I find I lose most time on my runs when I die. I feel the dps I gain from force weapon is not enough to warrant the utility I get from arcane orb.
I'm at high enough dps already I feel. Anything else is overkill for me at this point.
Astral presence helps with the situations against damage reflect for me. But I guess you do have a point and you may be right. I don't see myself using galvanizing ward (by chance, my gear has 15k+ extra healing from health globes - lol. One globe I am almost back to full life so I always leave globes hanging around when they appear if I don't need them). Perhaps Temporal Flux > Astral Presence will be a good fit as all my damage is arcane.

Got critical mass along with twister and diamond skin if I should happen to go out of archon way early.
Dunno how to show gear like people have done. Improved Archon is just way to powerful at the moment. I've noticed significant improvements in time of my Act 3 runs; having twister/critical mass means there is almost no down time for improved archon. I start from the very beginning and complete the entire act. Arcane Orb with Tap the Source, Twister with Mistral Breeze (this is absolutely OP; I figure it will be patched soon - you can literally cast 3/4 of these into trash and in about 3-4 seconds my Improved Archon CD of 1min30secs will reset LOL), Sparkflint, Force Armor, Diamond Skin Crystal Shell, Improved Archon Critical Mass, Astral Presence, Glass Cannon I was using venom hydra instead of twister before. Switched over to twister and haven't looked back since. The only issue I had before was damage reflect elites. Now, I just kite, drop 5/6 twisters, and spam diamond skin (so I literally take zero reflect damage as diamond skin is always up with critical mass). Stats are: 98k dps (with familiar only - 110k dps with both), 43k hp, 380 all res, 5k armor, 52% crit chance, 260% crit damage, 1.40 attack speed ** The above stats are with all my skills above turned on/buffed up and with scoundrel helper
To be honest, with your gear though, I could run with literally any build and farm act 3 comfortably without using any passives. I think the person asking the question was talking about anyone being able to farm act 3 with a reasonable amount of gear.

Oh, didn't notice we use different runes for Twister, I am running with Wicked Wind so it stands still making open space not a problem and ranged not a problem.
Also I am running life on hit amulet+ring not wep
My reason for galvanizing isn't for the heal, but for my armor to stay on twice as long since my archon very rarely ends before 2 min so found galvanizing to be great for keeping FA up.
But definetly been considering Temporal Flux myself, but hope to instead just increase my damage enough that they die before they get close to me with normal speed instead.
I still have a few crap pieces I need to upg that should boost my damage significantly so hope that fixes it. Also if you don't have it, I recommend Inna's legs for movement speed, I found it really helps with staying in form, hoping to find another item slot I can get my last 7% speed from.
The advantage of Inna's legs is that they have atk speed, they got 1% crit which is nice, you can get 2 sockets, and they can have 140+ vit
Sure you lose a lot of int, but you gain attack speed and movement speed (also 1% crit can be valued at 18-22 int I'd say)

So is there a cost efficient way to get from that 45k mark to 75k+ DPS mark without having to drop 30+M or 150$ into a 1hander with socket? I have been searching multiple times a day for upgrades and everything has a "touch" more int and then some all resist or maybe .5 more crit and cost jump is HUGE. Is this something I have to deal with and just settle for being 45k DPS wizard until something decent drops for me? I can't do Act 3 and just been farming Act 1 trying to be patient but I figure a week in I should have something to show for it and done zero upgrades made maybe 2m in item sales.
Are people who are showing 75-100K+ DPS just having endless supply of gold / RL funds? Maybe my stats are worse and I am focusing on wrong stats too much. I was going off guide on like page 149 to get good # of Crit / Crit Dmg / Int / Ias and balance your stats to ensure enough All resist / Hp too.
Here is photo of stats keep in mind I took weapon off to show its stats.

Thats just they way it is. I´m there myself, but with a weak 840 40%crit, socket, 130 int 1 hander I managed to sneak for 4 mil, the day before they nerfed IAS to the ground. Guess I was lucky I´m on EU, so I knew how hard the nerf was, before it hit EU Servers and could make some good deals on the AH. So now I´m sittin at 75k and for maybe 20 mil, I can get to around 80k, but then it gets REALLY expensive.

im still doing melee wizard - currently on act 3 Hell
my HP is around 48K damage is 4.3K with resistances hovering around 53-56%

This is my mage Lanfear, a CM wizard with high-end gear. I plan to soon sell all the items for 100-200$ and cash out. I am sad to say that I have wasted my time, the build is a gimmick at best.
I am tired of seeing overpowered barbarians with 1/5 my gear and 15000 damage doing more damage than be and surviving just as well because of their abundant life regen and survival skills.
It was fun while it lasted, but Eh. The game has no end-game that is fun for more than 10 hours. I am selling and moving on to Guild Wars 2.

hey you found your way to the right thread

lol 200$ for that crap? really?

yeah that's pretty bad gear, tried to cash out mine which is a bit better, but didn't bother after looking the prices, would have got like 15€ xd

Alright I just beat Diablo on Hell, and would like some tips for inferno.
Firstly, I am hovering around 16k HP/18k DPS (with all buffs) using the Blizzard/Hydra + Piercing Orb or MM (Seeker) for bosses.
My resists are around 300~400 with Energy Armor.
I can't take a picture atm since the servers just went down but I'll take one tomorrow morning.
All help is appreciated!

Not really. Big DPS numbers come from stacking crit % and then crit dmg --- particularly on your weapon. And those items are ultra-inflated on the AH. I wouldn't be surprised if crit dmg is nerfed like IAS in the near future.
The cheaper route by far is to get your defenses up. I farm act 3 just fine with 40k dps/530 resist all/36k health/5k armor with FA, so you should look at upping your resist all, +armor, and vit while maintaining your current dps.

I give you $15 for the gear! All you have going is the res.

Yes, actually.
The helm is worth over 25$ currently, the shield was bought for 19 million which is another 35-40, the weapon would sell fast for 15~, the amulet is worth around 10$, the rings 10-15, the boots 12-15, etc.
Maybe the master race EU serves are different, but my gear is worth well over 100$.

Looks alright you can use anything at that level tho really. I like dissintergrate with chaos nexus. Just melts everything in seconds.

Maybe if I wanted to play the game how i wanted to, I should have rolled with a different gaming company?
Barbarians are a fucking ugly class. That is the sole reason I do not like the class. That actually matters to some people. Some people will spend an entire hour making a nice looking character in a game like Dark Souls or Skyrim.
Barbs in D3 look like space marines, and you can't mod it to look nice like a game such as Torchlight.
