I'm going to completely revamp my demon hunter after the sharpshooter NT fix, and in anticipation of 1.03.
Right now I have 35k hp 45k DPS w/o SS, 250 AR. 1500 dex and 250% crit damage 15% crit chance with a 1.1kdps crossbow (no stats). I'm thinking my first step is to change my weapon type to a bow for 15% damage increase. In lieu of of crit damage I'll prioritize dex/vit/AR on most gear, while adding IAS for the items that have it. I have a 15-20 mil budget so I guess I won't be able to afford good andariel's/lacuni. I really dislike being a glass cannon and dying in 1 shot because I'm nto a very good player, so my ultimate goal is high DPS without sharpshooter with nice survivability, forgoing crit chance/damage.
Before I start on this though, I'd like to hear you guys' thoughts. If you guys were in my situation (15-20 mil budget, same stats), what gear/stats would you prioritize?

The biggest upgrades in my opinion( without seeing your gear ) are lacuni prowlers or maybe a good neck that ideally has high critdmg(50+). If you're looking to build tank just search for high dex/vit/allresist on gear, unfortunately it can be really pricy as you're starting to compete with monks tank gear
Btw: you can get a decent 50+ dex lacuni for around 3-5 mil and it will give you a huge DPS boost if you dont have it, and also give u movement speed

It's the worst DPS increaser out of the 3 popular passives, the other two being Steady Aim and Archery. The main purpose of the passive was to abuse the 1 second window of guaranteed crits with Nethers, but they already nerfed it so the 1 second window starts after the first crit proc. Tactical Advantage is VERY useful for certain affix combinations. Imagine getting walled in while running away with a pack of mobs waiting on the open end and you have to Smoke Screen early to avoid Frozen/Jailer/Mortar. Also, the idea of must have passives is silly. Here is a stunlock tank DH build that uses non of the currently popular glass cannon passives: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bZgVhl!Zbf!YaYcYc
You clearly have no idea how sharpshooter works. That build you posted is not an inferno build, or anything that would work past act 1. The stun is nice in theory, but the dps in that build is ass. There was a similar theorycraft build posted on the d3 forums on bnet that involved bola stuns + impale + cluster arrow, with similar looking passives. It blew. The champ mobs in inferno have reduced stun durations, meaning fighting against mobs that are fast (read tongues) you do not have any time to move/reposition, and should your stun ever stop working for a second you die. Even if it does work, it actually has less effectiveness and safety due to the longer duration of your fights.
What happens with sharpshooter, which works beautifully with NT and caltrops, is that for 1 second you can frontload damage and kill mobs w/o having to fight a second time. Put down a series immobilize trap when you meet your elite mob, usually 3 in vertical progression and aggro them. Move back so that when they meet/stop at the first one, you are at the edge of the last trap you set, allowing you to fire at will. The effectiveness of this is dependent on your attack speed. For example, in that 1 second window of dmg, I can include all the hit from about 3-4 NTs and 3-4 primary attacks, be it evasive fire or hungering. At 100k+ dps w/o SS, it usually kills 2/3 of the elite mobs that has standard or low health, allowing me to switch to MF gear to farm the last one; it puts a huge dent any of the high HP mobs and will kill any minion in 1 go.
So the question is, whether you would like to have that kind of advantage at the beginning of the fight versus the ability to move 60% faster or get 1 more SS/Gloom. The problem is the latter passives can be replaced by good positioning, caltrops, and effective kiting. The spike damage you get from SS is not found anywhere else, which makes it more "must have" than any other passive. Personally, I'd rather just kill a champ phasebeast in one go at the edge of my screen than stun/kite him for whatever duration.

Which fix is this? I tried googling but couldn't find anything.

if you can hit for 50k at a decent rate, I think you can finish whimyshire. Sometimes you are going to have just kill up on elites tho

Whimsyshire is pretty slow and I have 70k with ss. Never had a mob enrage, but taking so long to kill elites makes gold farming more effective.

A weapon. Easily the most important part of any build/item. Try to get 1k+ dps with +dex. But the EU AH is pretty fucked up by inflation so you'll have to sit for a few hours before finding a good occasion.

A weapon, with 1k ish dps with a socket, dex is nice, not important, get the socket first. Better yet get a 2h crossbow, 1k+ dps with socket and +dex.
Also a quiver with +10 max Disc can't hurt at all.

It might be better to get a pure damage bow or xbow if going the AH route. The price premium for sockets and other useful attributes in the AH is usually higher than the benefits they give.
|
Why is EU AH so fucked up? 1k bow without anything on it for 3mil? hohoho.....

I'd just try to find a solid dps for your first weapon. Crit isn't as worthwhile until you get it on multiple items (which you can't afford right now). With a bit of luck and hunting the auction house you should be able to find a +10 disc quiver and chest for relatively cheap which will make glass cannoning that much easier.

Wanna ask is a Lacunis really worth it even though the stats are crap?
How much DEX should I look to get on a Lacunis to make up for the 150 I'd be giving up on my current Bracer?

Strongarms can be better.

Attack Speed is still pretty damn good and boosts your damage directly via more hits and indirectly via crit procs.

I have zero problem with 70k dps (with ss on). If you have less then 50k you should farm some act1, my route was cave of the moon clan, watchtower, warden, butcher -> really good money. Get a 1.1k xbow then rape cuddle bears

Hey there mY money atm is only enough for a glasscan build..... How many critdamage and critrate should i aim for??
