If your account isn't "Beta Enabled" it doesn't matter if you downloaded the client 2 nights ago or tonight. You still have to wait.

Oooooh believe me I know, I try logging in every few hours just in case
I think Ch4rms is having problems downloading the client, hopefully he will have better luck when the traffic slows down :\

Honestly I see this as potentially harmful to their sales, their whole selling feature was "tiny beta, you can't come in" which made everyone want to play it, you give a 20min beta like the current patch to the masses and you're going to lose a lot of potential customers.
|
I have waited so long for this game. From Paris in 2008 until today.
I'm not about to play a teaser when they game is out in 4 weeks.
But really surprising and cool that Blizzard has open beta weekend. Didn't see that one coming.

Now we see if I am going to end up preordering or not Thanks for this thread btw it seems blizzard didn't email me about it :/

Nice for all who didn't got a beta key. Have fun

Great news. Glad to finally have a chance at seeing the game firsthand.

This. ^^
Blizzard always managed to amaze me by using Cartmans "You can't come" technique. People were so hyped over their games and limited accessibility only contributed to the demand.
Now I'm not saying that they'll lose tons of customers, (because they won't), but note this: A LOT of people lucky enough to have key a while now, are saying, that this is definitely not a polished product by any means. And that's already after taking out all the whiners from the pile.
I myself am simply loving it right now, since I know that this is like a /sixth of the game at minimum, but you got to wonder, why Blizzard chose to do this. I mean, salewise, I actually see more downsides than potential profits.
Or maybe not? This is first for blizzard as far as I know. Have they had open betas before?

i have the client downloaded and im still getting the "no diablo license attached to account" message when i try to log in? i looked through the forums and i cant find anyone with the issue at this time. anyone know anything?
edit: nvm it says i cant log in until noon =(

So if I download the open beta client, do I still need to download anything else after it ends? Or is that enough to play the full game if I pre-order online and stuff?

Starcraft II was basically an open beta when they started handing out keys with Gamestop orders.
Plus the Mists of Pandaria beta is kind of open since you can buy the annual pass that comes with Diablo III and are automatically in the beta. Not all annual pass buyers have access right away but they will get in eventually and guaranteed.

Did you create a BattleTag? It's required to play the game.

You need to install the full game, that's why you downloaded an installer when you pre-ordered -.- It works exactly the same way as Starcraft II.

Unless you can really study the market which neither me nor you can do in our armchair its pretty hard to know if this is bad.
A counter argument to what you just said is that it may convince haters. It's also a way to make gamers hype D3 instead of TERA (beta this week end) or GW2 (next week end). It also creates a peak in hype, recreating a little bit of what was supposed to happen back in end 2011.
I mean... I don't see it as detrimental, people interested probably already have seen thousands streams anyway so it probably wont suddenly change the opinion of thousands. It's also a good way to test infrastructure for the 15th. Yeah maybe some people will be disapointed and cancel buying the game, that's alright I still think the mass effect (no pun intended) generated by the hype will counter balance it. But like I said... who knows really.
