I played with a friend last night and we got steamrolled like 47-11 by a 5 stack of very good players. The dude playing Invoker had godly timing and reflexes. And then the next game, my friend ended up like 22-4 with LC while not buying a single decent item and basically randomly dueling people because he's terrible. So weird.

Solo MMR: 3232 (originally 3460) Party MMR: 3731 Yeeeeap.. Even based on original MMR party MMR is higher... Need solo queue plz.... no more playing as solo against parties that skew outcome of games What I don't understand is that valve HAD solo queue.... it's not like they have to code anything or have to wait for a release... there was an OUTPOURING before and there is still an outpouring now of people asking for solo queue when playing solo... it just makes sense in every single way possible to have this option.

I actually kind of liked the MMR being hidden, and then being able to reveal it after a certain number of games. It worked well for a game like dota where you need very high sample sizes to even out the variations in teammates/heroes/etc. I wonder if it might be better to update visible MMR once every 10-20 games or something? That would help a lot with the situations where you lose 50 points on a game where another lane went 0-5 by 5:00. Even in the absence of a raging superiority complex, those games do happen and it's pretty demoralizing to see the number straight afterwards. Average it out over a few days and it's not as bad; dota is a game that really warrants perspective on things like streaks. Even if you found out you really had gotten worse after a few days, well, that would be disappointing but you'd be able to tell yourself you had another 10 games to get it back before the next check. And then another 10 after that...

In fact it's worse here, because Valve don't fudge it with a bonus pool and it's tempting to D-K every loss streak into ragequitting while blaming the MM. And then another 10 after that... I don't think it'll be that bad. So far, my ranked games have been super relaxing, and there's one important aspect of Sc2 ladder anxiety that isn't present in Dota - If you lose in Sc2, the loss is 100% objectively your fault. If you lost, that means that the other player played better than you, is better than you at the matchup, or outsmarted you in a way you didn't expect. If you lose in Dota because your offlane went 0/5 and decided to convert bottom lane into a trilane at 8 minutes, then you can easily tell yourself that you lost because your teammate did a derp, accept your negative points and move on with life knowing that someday that derp will be on the opposing team, and harmonic balance will be regained. The confrontation of the fear that you're not actually good at the game isn't so boldly apparent as it is in Sc2 with its leagues and ratings and 1v1 format. Because of that, I really don't think ladder fear will be that big of an issue. There's also the easy access to noncompetitive channels in Dota, whereas in Sc2 ranked 1v1 was far, far more prevalent.

Assigning higher uncertainty to the initial 10 ranked games lets them iron out those things quickly rather than having to play a lot of games to gain or lose the appropriate amount of rating.

I went 8-2, queueing with mates who are in the region of 4.9 to 5.5k ratings (xfreedom, ninjaboogie, etc) and somehow still ended up being 3.8k rating after my 10games. I played the 4th or 5th role usually, hence not achieving a high KDR (unless you count assists). Does score actually matter? I dont see any reason for my low MMR besides my score... hmm. maybe you're bad on your own

Thanks for adding so much on this discussion ! But rly, this team mmr is really pointless and is basically a mirror of your solo mmr, I don't get why they didn't do it like in sc2, where every team has its personal mmr
