Please keep the QQ to a minimum if you do not like this update. We are happy to hear your reasoning for not liking a ranked system, but no "OMG VOLVO WHY" posts. |
do regions not have any impact on the MMR?
for example in sc2, i got in gm SEA but was mid-high masters NA. But you can't claim GM coz GM SEA is a joke.
So my 4k rating in AU, would that be the same as 4k in NA? Because the player pool on AU servers would be a lot less than the EU/NA east and west.
I suppose it's different as a team game, because I get stuck with retards against retards. The lesser of downies win.

i'm pretty sure it's global
|
im at 4081 after going like 8-2
the equivalent of platinum or diamond?? hopefully
|
Although the prospect of converting a number to a league from a different game is rather silly, I'd say it's about equivalent to masters in SC2 more or less.
|
How can everyone be above 4000? I think this should be quite uncommon.

I'd say 2 main reasons. Firstly and probably most important, if you have a high rating you want to tell people about it, if you have an average rating, meh.
Secondly, quite a few people play dota. 1% can easily be hundreds of thousands of people.

Ranked MM needs some moderation like; giving extra reports for trolls, a more strict rules for games, maybe a concede option as well.
In one of my solo games, our captain(fastest clicker in the team) forgot to last pick into a random chen. Lineup is not suitable for it and captain decided to play it(poorly). Captainship also may use some moderation maybe highest ELO guy can be captain etc..

I didn't see this happened in other games. In SC2 and LoL, there're a lot more people who are in silver, gold, plat,v...v.. My guess is that since rank just came out, people still feel awkward about it, maybe in couple months, people are gonna be more open about it and it's business as usual.

the equivalent of platinum or diamond?? hopefully 4081 is 99% percentile, so it's about Platinum2 in league and Master in SC2.

After my first rated solo queueueu game I am pleased to inform you I appear to have a unsure ranking of 2900 ^.^ Sure I'm only one person, but if I can be mediocre so can hundreds of other people.
But more seriously, I'd hardly worry about what random people tell other random people what their mmr rating is. End of the day it is simply a number and if indeed more then 5% of the playerbase has 4k rating then obviously a 4k rating doesn't mean you are in the top 5%. ^.^
AFAIK valve hasn't published any real in-depth information about the new rating system yet beyond the marketing blurb, so end of the day we are not even sure what the number exactly means. I mean, we obviously know what the number tries to represent but we don't know the distribution or longer term plans. Who knows, perhaps after some large enough number of people have gotten their rating they will adjust the scoring curve to compensate for the results. i.e. too many people end up with a high score so we adjust the scores to better reflect the reality of this. Not very likely but who knows.
At the end of the day the number by itself is meaningless, it's only the difference between different scores that gives it any kind of meaning.
I am sure the system is accurate enough to determine that a player with a score of 100 is worse at dota then someone with a score of 6000. But other then that I'm not going to base anything on scores people get until we're a few months further and hopefully have a lot more data, information and analysis about how the system works.

I've seen someone with 5425. So I doubt they're 1%
The 4k++ ratings I mean.
|
they are if valve says so
|
The level of play is very high in 3700 MMR games, thats my opinion at least. Solid dota-players. No easy wins as it used to be in non-ranked.
|
I have around 3.5k rating and got LC that decided to go farm the small camp for "quick level 2" even though she was safe lane with me as lion to support... Then he started to insult everybody so i muted him, but soon enough the started to feed them duel kills on purpose. Despite that we almost won the game but in the end it was too much to handle :s Kind of frustrating

Matchmaking seems really strange in ranked. Easily the worst / least focused / least skilled games I've played in a long while... and not "Oh I'm a god and couldn't carry these noobs", but just no coordinated teamplay / TP counterganks / smart rotations whatever, but WAY MORE Nagas that seem to be playing first time, people picking stupid solo lanes, supports doing either nothing or strange stuff...
I assume it's going to normalize over time like actual MMR, but for now my games are just awful.

The 4k++ ratings I mean. It is possible, given the fact that Dota 2 has a large player base. (if 2 million play, 20k is 1% :D ; still a big group tho)

I went like 2-6, still 4.5k /brag

The goal is 1%, but i believe there are way more people above 4081. Lets just wait until we get the numbers, becuz i think they will tinker with the MM eventually so that they will get a nice standard deviation in statistics (i.e. i mean that gauss curve with the 3Q rule and stuff). This will ensure a nice %-wise elite, but dont automatically assume its 1% at this moment.

dont like how the system works( still in the testing games)
i'm losing MMR for winning by playing the offlane/support roles. lost 600 mmr in a split push game against furion and tinker as a CM, and i'm assuming that buying wards/ hard support doesn't count towards invidivual performance nor does playing as the guy who only dies on your team while getting a teamwipe.
The individual thing is just bad.

First game my rating was 3970, after 10 games and going 3-7 my rating was 3750. Today won 2 games and now its 3820.
Depends if you win or lose you go 30-35 points up or down.
