I have a feeling that we need to see the joint statement to interpret these statements. Doesn't sound like the Lavrov we've heard int he last few weeks.

I know its easy to confuse the those two...

It's on RT, and considering the whole place is state-run, the answer is probably "yes".

What...
Jews in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk where pro-Russian militants have taken over government buildings were told they have to “register” with the Ukrainians who are trying to make the city become part of Russia, according to Israeli media.
Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city’s Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee “or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated,” reported Ynet News, Israel’s largest news website.
Donetsk is the site of an “anti-terrorist” operation by the Ukraine government, which has moved military columns into the region to force out militants who are demanding a referendum be held on joining Russia.
The leaflets bore the name of Denis Pushilin, who identified himself as chairman of “Donetsk’s temporary government,” and were distributed near the Donetsk synagogue and other areas, according to the report.
Pushilin acknowledged that flyers were distributed under his organization’s name in Donetsk, but denied any connection to them, Ynet reported in Hebrew.

Yes that's a dumb article that is trying to justify what Russia is doing by looking at the consequences of Bush administration.
Every argument he's making have been addressed a thousand times, maybe he got instructions, maybe not and he's just patriotic. Either way he denies reality and justify acts by pointing at the acts of others (and that's what my 6 yrs old niece is doing).

I recommend that anyone following this thread watch all of it. Definitely. Even though he has his clear bias (which actually helps in this scenario), it provides insight that not many others do and can be actually called reporting and not PR-news like many other news sources.
The video though shows how all similar protests look like, Maidan was not much different in many aspects. You can see angry, but ordinary people, you can see violent idiots and the conflict between them when they have disagreement about what to do about the police chief. Also how easy it is for protests to become fanatical us vs them scenarios and be hijacked by those violent idiots. The ratio of violent idiots here is though much higher than on Maidan, mostly clear sign of "illegitimacy" of protests, although that is hard to judge.

Reminds me of the Russians marking and then burning Tatar buildings in Crimea. Anyone not of the pure/superior Orthodox Russian people are just too inferior to allow. So sad.

Following the conclusion of quadrilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, the U.S., and the EU in Geneva on April 17, the following statement was released: The Geneva meeting on the situation in Ukraine agreed on initial concrete steps to de-escalate tensions and restore security for all citizens. All sides must refrain from any violence, intimidation or provocative actions. The participants strongly condemned and rejected all expressions of extremism, racism and religious intolerance, including anti-semitism. All illegal armed groups must be disarmed; all illegally seized buildings must be returned to legitimate owners; all illegally occupied streets, squares and other public places in Ukrainian cities and towns must be vacated. Amnesty will be granted to protestors and to those who have left buildings and other public places and surrendered weapons, with the exception of those found guilty of capital crimes. It was agreed that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission should play a leading role in assisting Ukrainian authorities and local communities in the immediate implementation of these de-escalation measures wherever they are needed most, beginning in the coming days. The U.S., E.U. and Russia commit to support this mission, including by providing monitors. The announced constitutional process will be inclusive, transparent and accountable. It will include the immediate establishment of a broad national dialogue, with outreach to all of Ukraine’s regions and political constituencies, and allow for the consideration of public comments and proposed amendments. The participants underlined the importance of economic and financial stability in Ukraine and would be ready to discuss additional support as the above steps are implemented. Source.

Protests at Madian were peaceful until Yanokovich tried to disperse them with violence. When Berkut starting firing into the crowds some protests resorted to hunting rifles ect.
The protests in East Ukraine went from peacefull protests into heavily armed militia assaulting police stations and government buildings with no violence from the government until after said armed assaults.

No, it's not a surprise to me. I just want to make sure people do not forget what he is about.

You still do not see how your previous post that basically stated that there were no civilians in East Ukrainian protests was nonsense ? Still do not see how you trying to conjure image of teachers vs paramilitary is complete fabrication and best example of pure propaganda ? Especially considering how Right sector militias were part of the Maidan protests and that Maidan protests got violent much sooner than you claim. Guns are not prerequisite for violence. Note that I am not saying that there were no differences, I am saying that you are painting propagandist picture, not on the same level as the guy in the article, but not that much better.
