For real? The Russia government sent a letter to Poland/Romania/Hungary offering to give them west Ukraine? Please tell me this is a fake news site or something.
Assuming it's real, $10 says it's mass trolling. What's especially absurd about this is that Russia saved Ukraine from Polish invasion and conquest back in 1920. Also, why would Russia want NATO to expand more lol?
EDIT: Saw Sub40's post. Far-right-wingers are always full of funny ideas.
It is very real, even spokesman of our FM said they are going to reply.
Not even worth the ink to indulge far right nutcases with a response. Every country's got them, I'm sure Nick Griffin spends his free time in MS Paint drawing a new British Empire and Geert Wilders goes to bed cuddling with a snow globe of Manhattan.
Wilders wants to get rid of the Dutch overseas territories and foreign influences, not add new ones. Though xenophobic and nationalist, he does not appear to seek expansion of territory. I don't know anything about Nick Griffin, but as far as I'm aware territorial expansion in general is not very fashionable anywhere in Europe, even among right-wing nationalists, except in Russia.
It was a hyperbolic joke, but while I'm not aware of the agenda of every far right party in Europe this isn't quite true. Here's an example that we've had dealings with fairly recently:

They are going to reply as a courtesy from what I understand. They called the the proposition a curiosum.
EDIT: Polish presidential advisor, Tomasz Nałęcz - "Actually, this proposal should be sent to psychiatrist".
to give some context to that map (the alleged map the Russian government sent): after the '39 pact
In addition to stipulations of non-aggression, the treaty (The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact) included a secret protocol that divided territories of Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland into Nazi and Soviet "spheres of influence", anticipating potential "territorial and political rearrangements" of these countries.
Kingdom of Romania 1942 it included Moldova up to the Black Sea and the whole Transnistria.
Poland territory pre/during ww2 well one gets the gist - some countries just got new borders!
Ukraine as it is now didn't exist pre ww2. it is a made-up country.

Ukraine did not have the exact same frontiers pre-ww2, but it still existed. Also, all countries are made-up.

no one would mind an Ukraine like this (except today ukrainians ):
Where's your WW3 now!?!? (Bad joke, I know; couldn't resist)
Ukraine orders Crimea withdrawal Ukraine's interim President Olexander Turchynov says he has ordered the withdrawal of armed forces from Crimea.
The decision was taken because of Russian threats to the lives of military staff and their families, the president announced. Russian troops have seized most of Ukraine's bases in the peninsula, including the naval base at Feodosia. Earlier this month, Russia annexed Crimea after a referendum which Ukraine and the West considered illegal.
.....
'Pressure and aggression' "The national security and defence council has reached a decision, under instructions from the defence ministry, to conduct a redeployment of military units stationed in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," interim President Turchynov said.
"The cabinet of ministers has instructions to resettle the families of soldiers as well as everyone else who today is forced to leave their homes under the pressure and aggression of the Russian army's occupying forces."
A Ukrainian defence official has told the BBC that every military base in Crimea is now under Russian control, with just two naval ships and a single police base still flying the Ukrainian flag.

It can keep Moldova out of NATO? Putin can have another celebration about how amazing he is at gathering Slavic lands back to Mother Russia? More people will be able to throw out the "History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce." line comparing Putin to the Soviets?
I have my doubts about the first one. Transnistria has declared independence and has been in a suspended disputed state since the early 90s, they control that area and would continue to do so for the forseable future. Also while Moldova desperately wants to join EU, not only that they currently have no plans whatsoever to join NATO but joining NATO would be unconstitutional.

When Zhirinovsky says something, you just have to do everything vice versa. Sometimes he says something useful but it happens 1/10 or even less and noone listens to it anyway.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai backs Russia's annexation of Crimea Referendum reflected people's 'free will' to decide their future, says President Karzai
The Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has backed Russia's annexation of Crimea, saying a much-criticised referendum on its future reflected its people's "free will" to decide their future.
That stance, announced at a meeting with a US congressional delegation, puts Afghanistan in company with Venezuela, Syria and a few other nations.
It was an unexpected move from a man who has little stake in Ukraine's future, spent years fighting to evict Soviet forces from his own country, and now leads a democracy funded largely by the western nations that have slapped sanctions on Moscow.
However, Karzai has always been keen to counter accusations that he is a foreign puppet, and more recently has been at odds with the United States over everything from air strikes and the forthcoming presidential election to the recent release of dozens of prisoners captured by foreign troops.
He may also be looking to strengthen regional ties, at a time when western interest in Afghanistan is fading and with it the funds the government needs to pay the army and keep the country running.
"The two sides discussed issues of regional importance, in particular the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation," an account of the meeting issued by Karzai's office said.
"The president said that Afghanistan respects the free will of the people of Crimea to decide about their own future," the statement added, without giving further details.
Karzai travelled to Sochi for the recent Winter Olympics when many European heads of state boycotted the ceremony, and Russia is starting to put money back into Afghanistan as foreign troops leave, retooling a factory that builds prefabricated housing and opening a cultural centre among other projects.

From what I hear, he's mostly trying to look independent so he doesn't get ganked when America pulls out (iirc a time article said that's happened to a lot of people there). Not that I care if he gets ganked, he did a lousy job.
Do you guys think that Putin would let his hands off of eastern Europe when we give him Bavaria instead?
I think that would have many benefits for both sides:
-Audi and BMW alone would probably increase Russia's GDP by 100% -Germany would have an interresting football league again -Bavarians had to learn a language that at least someone could understand -Russia could put up their rocket shield in Bavaria to safe europe from the evil iranian rockets! This would take the load of USA, Poland and the Czech and therefore initiate a new era of Russian-USA friendship! -Germany could finally export energy to Russia! (german nuclear power plants are going offline in 2022 and bavarians refuse to do anything to replace the missing power) -Bavarians have voted the same party for 55 years straight in a democracy, so you dont even need fix the results that much
Seems like Russia is starting to feel some pressure:
A power failure plunged much of the Crimean capital, Simferopol, into darkness on Monday, the second partial blackout in two days, as the Ukrainian government in Kiev appeared to retaliate against Russia’s occupation and annexation of the peninsula by sharply cutting electricity supplied from the mainland.
Those fascists not sharing their electricity. Such blackmail. Something Russia could never dream of doing with their gas.
Mr. Medvedev said that in the meantime the issues of power and water supplies “should be settled through international negotiations,” according to the Interfax news service.
And where are those international negotiations when we need something? Ukraine is lead by a junta and we dont negotiate with terrorists, so to solve the situation... Hmn... source

See, I want to mock him but I actually think that at least Putin believes that the fascist junta are puppets of the CIA the way his random assortment of Crimean leaders are his puppets, so he probably means to say "I need to negotiate with the puppeteers about the power cuts"
Christine Hogan, foreign affairs and defence policy adviser to the prime minister. Wayne G.Wouters, Clerk of the Privy Council. Andrew Scheer, House of Commons speaker. Peter Van Loan, government house leader. Raynell Andreychuk, Conservative senator. Dean Allison, Conservative MP. Paul Dewar, NDP MP. Irwin Cotler, Liberal MP. Ted Opitz, Conservative MP. Chrystia Freeland, Liberal MP. James Bezan, Conservative MP. Paul Grod, president of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
I never thought the Russians would send their A team to Canada, but whoever drew up this list seems particularly incompetent.

I'm pretty sure that Putin knows exactly who's who in the Ukraine and that he couldn't care less about fascists.
