I still beleive my statement is correct, but let me clarify a bit.

I'm talking about cases where someone w/ 180-200~ APM is trying to increase up to 300~ APM. I literally don't know of any good 300 APM player who slowly got there. Virtually any quick player I know peaked it up in a small period of time and then figure out how to make it useful.

I agree that it will naturally increase, but I feel as though the highest APM one can reach naturally is 180-200. Past that requires lots of practice. So, i'm not trying to say that its impossible to build APM naturally, that's definitely true. However, its only true up to a certain point. To get past the 200 range, i feel one MUST focus on APM and practice quick hand speed.

Yeah my APM is pretty much locked at 220+ now (I do have games where I'm hitting 250 - 280, but I've only hit 300+ once in a real game). Its all about the hotkeys baby.

Scrolling around the map is going to make your actions drop, if you can use the hotkeys to just to what you want to use at the current time, just click it twice and jump to it! And if you need to go to a spot, quickly go to the minimap and click on wherever. Another thing is that you should max out your mouse speed and get used to it. Once you do you'll be able to select/move/attack things faster. It will hurt your accuracy for a bit but once that catches up you'll be fine.

Also, learn how to click faster. Instead of just clicking fast to increase your APM, however, do it to more precisely have your units go to a spot. Make your actions useful while your increasing them. And never lose track of whats happening in the game. Work your strategy but never forget to adapt to what your opponent is doing.

Hey what do you guys think about this excercize- To prace playing the computer ONLY using your mouse- and once you feel you do allmost as well as you do in normal games your mouse apm should be awesome >_<

Practicing against a computer while trying to keep minerals below 300 at all times and APM above 300 at all times is supposed to help. These goals are very difficult to reach though. I have found that simply focusing on APM in games has slowly increased my APM from 50 to around 140 on average.

I exaggerate slightly but it does mess with your decision making.
