Compare that 100k to how much money that guy gets paid and already has been paid. He can probably wipe his ass with 1,000 dollar bills and not even notice a change in his bank account.
This is an irrelevant strawman. A 100k fine is a hefty penalty, even for a wealthy person, and is the league showing how serious the incident was. There were a lot of human and civil rights groups who were furious over the incident.
I fail to see how it's an irrelevent strawman that a 100k fine means very little to someone of kobe's financial status. Care to explain? 100k would be a crushing amount of money for someone like me but to someone like kobe? He may as well have been slapped on the wrist. 100k just looks like a big number to the average person.
NBA players are also represented by a union, and the league can only fine a player a certain amount based on the current agreement with the union. So you can't look at Kobe's finances when evaluating the fine because the union/league probably structured the penalty based on how it would effect the lowest paid person in the league. The NBA min salary for 2012 was around $490k, which after taxes would make a fine of $100k extremely high.

In the end it's up to Quantic / sponsors, but i can't really support such a behaviour, since we, TL, have one of the greatest communitys out there. Would be a shame if incidents like this should change that.
The discussion's been had many times before. People who fall to one side will continue to believe that post-discussion, as will people on the otherside. It's an argument about a meaningless topic where people's opinions will never be changed.
so is this the real Destiny, if it is shame on you.

Fired? I don't even know who is employer is, based on Quantics sponsorship there's no way he's drawing a salary from that.
I just don't want him to be a featured streamer. This website has far better choices for people to promote as representatives of the community.
Part of being a featured stream is because TL knows people are interested in him and his viewers justify that stance. I think TL's primary objective is to be a compendium of knowledge and resources on SC2, not to be a representative of the community like so many people want.

I strongly, strongly doubt that many if any of you have sought an explanation from QxG prior to this thread being opened. Yet here we are, with so many people up in arms to get him defeatured, kicked off his team, or pressure Quantic's sponsors into forcing them into action. If this stuff is so offensive to you, then why are you only acting now. You should've been on Quantic's case months ago.
I don't support Destiny in this case, but these are just my 2 cents.
This is how "campaigns" work. People acting solely feel their action is insignificant, but when someone organizes a little bit people feel more power being with a group and act. This is true about a lot of movements in general.
Sounds incredibly sheep/bandwagony if you ask me. If you truly had a problem with Destiny before this, you would/should have already acted on it.

I don't think Anybody would like to be punished 100K not even David Rockefeller.
Of course, I must admit I do watch Destiny's stream from time to time. I find seeing him blow up rather entertaining. I don't recall seeing him use any racial slurs in the recent times I've watched it, though. However, it's sort of like watching reality Tv. Perhaps part of the problem is with me. I have no idea.

Let him have his hateful opinions, they do not hurt you, being "offended" is not a reason to ban opinions. You are basically just saying that your opinion is better than his, which is much more ignorant in my opinion.
Dear OP, please grow up, get a life, and avoid online gaming communities if Destiny using slurs (which obviously is not actually meant to be racism or whatever else) is so terrible for you.
Seriously, this community is growing more ridiculous by the day with all the drama, both here and on Reddit. Was it always this bad?
Edit: Oh yes, please do not contact the sponsors right away. That is, literally, destroying eSports. Take it up with Destiny or Quantic and every other instance first. Wait a reasonable (not 3 hours) time for them to address your concerns.

There's a reason NO professional sport or outlet allows the use of homophobic and racist slurs.
yes, write to sponsors. Let's punish the whole team for your viewpoint.
we are not trying to punish the team, we are trying to put pressure on the team to enact disciplinary measures on one of their professional gamers, Destiny, who did an unprofessional thing

The opinion that someone is inferior by virtue of their race or sexual orientation is not an opinion we need to respect. And yes, if you're using race or sexual orientation as an insult that by definition means you think they are inferior...otherwise those words wouldn't be insults.

for Kobe $100K fine is about the equivalent of a $30 parking ticket for an average income earner. +1 though for using cool sounding phrases like "irrelevent strawman" though..wp!
The point is, he got fined. He was given a warning. That means there're people actually care about this stuff. You think $100k is nothing to him, of course, but do you think he's gonna do it again? Do you think the next time he does it, is it still going to be $100k fine?
Really this is destiny. He's said in the past he"s not going to change what he says because alot of people watch him. It's part of the reason him and col parted ways. Quantic knew he says naughty words when they signed him. He makes more money from stream then the contract he signed. If he gets removed he won't care most likely.
I doubt he's going to be removed because he said "don't make any n***** mistakes" to his teammates during the mono battles. Quantic doesn't care. So because 1 guy makes a post everyone all of a sudden is offended by destiny?
It is just a ladder game, but its also a ladder game that was probably being streamed live to thousands of viewers. This isn't the first time he's used these choice words either. I watched his LoL stream a week ago when he used the same choice words to the other team while he had a little over 4k viewers.

Well, was it streamed or not? I think it makes a difference - a very small one, mind you - it would be nice to get the facts straight. The OP just took a screenshot of a replay.

harsh, probably not true, but we've all raged on ladder and used offensive words.
calm down and don't make these useless threads. here's hoping it gets closed.
but again, are you a professional gamer. Professional gamers can't get away with the same kind of stuff an ordinary gamer can get away with. DO you have responsibilities to your Team, Players and Sponsors?
