Wasn't able to watch the Lakers-Nuggets game, but it sounded terrible and the reactions from fans and writers confirm it. I've always felt the Lakers biggest enemy was themselves. I'm not saying that they're going to win every game and beat every team as soon as they figure out their own internal struggles, but they consistently make the game so much harder for themselves.
As a Lakers fan, I'm hoping that having their backs against the wall and the return of Artest will be enough to wake themselves up and play like they're capable of playing. Win or lose, I couldn't stand another loss where the Lakers play like shit against a very beatable team.
Also, lots of credit to the Nuggets for playing like the Lakers should be and for Karl doing a great job of making adjustments and getting the most out of his players. You look at that roster and there are a lot of "flawed" players, but he's managing to put them all in a position to contribute in a way that fits their strengths and minimizes their deficiencies.

Before I answer I just want to say it's the Euroleague Final Four this week, the first semi-final between CSK and Panathinaikos already took place and it was epic, I definitely recommend it. Olympiacos-Barça is starting in 20 minutes.
Say what you want about the Euroleague and how it compares to the NBA, the final four is a must-watch for a basketball fan.
Edit: actually I have nothing to answer I kinda agree with you guys, they lacked energy. I still think the biggest key for the next game will be the role players' ability to knock down 3s.

No! Sorry, but Euroleague is a joke. I don't get how anyone can waste their time with this. But who cares, its not even shown on german tv.

Of course it's not shown in Germany, it's not a basketball country. In Spain and Greece for instance, I can assure you a lot of people are "wasting their time".
It's better basketball than the Eastern conference playoffs, if you actually watched it you'd know that. The final four is actually very high level, the only thing that's bad in Europe is the lack of depth, after 5-6 "super teams" with very rich owners the competition starts to get bad. But yes I agree, German teams are a joke (French teams too).

I could see myself watching it over the NCAA (final four), which features laughable defensive effort. But I wouldn't go out of my way to track it down.

Here is my view of Euroleague.
Coming from our Capitol we have a club which was, way back in 96, winner of the older version of todays Euroleague. Since then the club is battling with major financial problems which are results of trying to keep up with major clubs around the europe, spanish clubs, italian clubs, israel club, russians clubs, greece clubs, lithuanian clubs, turkish clubs and ex- balkan clubs, which have way more money to spend(ex-balkan clubs excluded) and to attract players from NBA, mostly waived players or nbdl players that are willing to play in europe for hope to jump into NBA, college players that don't get drafted or second rounders or luring big europe youth names from smaller clubs which are attracted by the money plus the minor clubs sell them for a hope to build future teams and invest in their youth.
Level is increasing slowly due to american talent players or argentinian players and ofc europe youth players, but mostly BIG eu youth players are declaring for draft etc. The second tier youth players are getting sold to bigger clubs all the time. So you can easly say that slight increase of level is not due to eu youth(sure there are few exeptions but mostly those youth players are from big clubs and those clubs put some nice buyout prices and in some case can hold on to for an year or 2 like in case of Rubio.
But it is from USA talent or some EU nba vets like Kirilenko etc.
I personaly don't like eu basketball at all. It's a bit better with four 10 min quarters now but it's still to slow. Its getting better with USA talent and all but meh. I rather watch NBA all the time. Sure there was a time europe game had it charms in the old days when the game was played in a slow pace but now, for me, it's just to slow comparing it to NBA and not attractive enough to pay much attention.
It was fun watching Danny Green play this year with lockout and all but it's just meh for me. I can easly understand people from bigger europe citys to support their local club but it just doesn't cut it for me.

Once again, I agree that the European low level is bad. Europe doesn't have a draft system, and it's dominated by a few rich teams, meaning that you have maybe 6 teams with just ridiculous depth (oftentimes CSKA's 12th player could be a star in another team). But when those big teams meet, it's very good. I'm not sure I understand your point on American talent so I can't answer. If I understand correctly I don't think it's true, most of the talent comes from Europe. Some good American players who got unlucky in the US too. Some like Jennings went on to have even more success in the NBA.
Anyway I'll stop derailing the thread. I watch more NBA than Euroleague, so I'm not here to argue and compare the leagues. All I said is that if you're a basketball fan you might want to check out the final four. It's one-game elimination, so it's not a huge time investment to watch a different kind of high level basketball. If you don't like it too bad, I deeply apologize.

The hate and envy makes everything harder to come by for Lebron, and therefore more deserved. Gz.

Btw radio said that the odds are 3.5:1 on celtics vs philly game 1, if this is even true anyone thinks its ridiculous? Im thinking about betting 100$ on philly...

Sure, but most people have good reasons for hating on him. Flopping, preferential treatment from refs, immaturity (taking the mick out of Dirk's sickness, how he handled free agency), and etc. No one doubts his desire to win championships and be the best he can be, but his methods and behaviour is questionable to say the least. Calling them out doesn't mean people are jealous or blindly hating on him.

Well hes had a career year and is by far the best player in the league but I dont think those two reason have anything to do with how much he deserves it.
What the fuck ? Technicals for hi fives now ? Mark Davis is by far the biggest retard ever to have officiated this game its official. excuse the pun.

Did Evans just get a technical for giving Blake a high five?
|
I don't watch much basketball, but to me that technical looked really really strange

What did Evans get T'd for?

i did not see anything at all during the entire play.
Maybe because it was over a grizzly head?
