To be fair to Gasol, he just got his first shot attempt.

Lakers really need their big men to maintain high level of play in the playoffs (games 1-3 ish), or OKC will roll right through them (assuming they get past denver first...)

He's not moving, he's not battling for inside position, he's just chilling at the top of the box waiting for a pass so he can take a contested jump shot. He's had one shot attempt in the paint that was short. Either he's not being aggressive or Fereid (sp?) is just manhandling him so badly in the post that he isn't even trying to attack the basket anymore. Either way Pau is still scoreless and the Lakers have no chance of a win today if Kobe is the only reliable form of offense available.

Kobe seems to be the only guy on the starting 5 that came to play so far despite the stomach flu. The fact remains that the Lakers tend to lose those games. The Lakers are probably going to need both Bynum and Gasol to play well if they want to win the championship and get away from that (and seem to have abandoned Gasol altogether) frighteningly often. If I was Mike Brown, I'd run play after play for Bynum until he stops checking out of games.

To busy getting punked by Mcgee Faried and Mozgov. Bynum makes first with 5 to go in the second. Lakers so lucky to be close. One can dislike Kobe all they want but hes keeping them in it again. Game will slow down and theyll get back in it Denver isnt going to stay this hot on the 3 forever, but this doesnt really look good at all.

You're going to keep running plays for a guy that's 1-6 and lagging on defense? A majority of Bynum's rebounds so far this game have been from his own misses, but at least he's actually SOMEWHAT contributing. Pau is still MIA, whether by Mike Brown's neglect or his own lack of effort he still hasn't done anything this half and Kobe is carrying the offense as a result.

Mike Brown needs to get his ass in gear and get this team of his motivated, I just think he's too busy trying to fill phil's shoes and respects the players too much instead of getting the players to meet his own standards as a completely different coach.

That's what makes it "flagrant" Kobe clearly was playing the ball on that play. Feried just fell awkwardly. The slow motion makes it obvious. He gets more of the ball than he gets of Feried, if anything it was Barnes that caused him to fall.

Look at it again. His arm is almost mirroring Feried's arm, with his hand draped over the ball. The refs called it flagrant because of the way Feried fell which is something they tend to do.

Yea I wouldnt call that a flagrant because Barnes had as much to do with it as Kobe to make it look bad but really Im not surprised. When they say unnecessary contact is a flagrant its not because of lack intent to play the ball (atleast not in the rules, its an unwritten one sure but its not a condition) its because putting the player at risk through any kind of contact is deemed "unnecessary". Just because your going for the ball doesnt make it ok to go through someones head. I mean if you go by that the next time someone turns their back to you on a play, punch em in the nuts trying to go for the ball and get a hand on it. Lackers so lethargic. Im going to bed. Dont even care if they win.

I'm watching KCAL and neither of the casters there think it was flagrant. And I'm 100% convinced that you don't really believe the refs in the NBA have a clean track record when calling flagrant fouls. Chandler's "flagrant" on Lebron is an even more obvious example of how much credibility i give to NBA officials to make the correct calls.
