westbrook chucking shots
so the offense that had 113.5 ORTG with Westbrook chucking was the problem...and not the defense with Ibaka + Perkins in the game? lol Perkins is such a defensive liability against the Spurs, and just sucks against that pick and roll that Parker runs like every freaking play. Doesn't hedge, doesn't help on rotations, just sits in the middle and tries to scare him out of the paint. Parker either pulls from 15 feet if Perkins is sagging off too much or he just weaves around Perkins if he overplays. OKC should think about going small and running more, although that's hard to do against such a disciplined offense.
There aren't a lot of options. You can't play Ibaka at center because Duncan has made him look like Blake Griffin on defense. Certainly not Aldrich or Nazr. And I think the Spur will run with you if you want to. It's just a tough match up.

Westbrooks line was 27pts 8 assits, 7 revounds, and 0 turnovers.
Please tell me again about how bad of a player he is while he puts up lebronesque numbers.

He's not 'the problem', but there were times when he could have managed the game better. He held the ball too long a lot and made some very bad 3 point attempts.
|
Yeah, and when LeBron puts up his "standard" numbers (i.e. doesn't play a bad game by his standards), his % is almost always above 50 and he generally doesn't make as many misses. He's learned not to take bad 3s [somewhat] and that has immensely helped him as well. And yeah, obviously Westbrook was not the only factor in their loss, but he could have helped set up some better plays etc I suppose.

Spurs look unbeatable right now. They play great basketball an entire team effort no selfishness. Pop is an amazing coach
|
I never said he was smart, or as smart as Lebron, I simply said he didnt cost them the game while putting up numbers that most players drool over.
You people put to many words in my mouth. That being said, Westbrook being aggressive is the best thing for the OKC, passing to Durant every possession will lead to bad spacing. If anything, blame the coaching staff for not having Harden bring the ball up the court instead of Westbrook, but dont blame Westbrook for being a clear cut top 5 PG this year.
|
Ah I just meant more that putting up LBJish numbers doesn't mean he played as well as or actually like LBJ would have in normal circumstances; I didn't want to put words in your mouth. There wasn't much that any team really could have done against SA today and OKC did a great job of making it closer in the fourth, and Westbrook didn't straight-up choke or anything like that. He played a great game, though there were just certain things he could have done differently that potentially could have made a big impact.
I think everybody here, regardless of team affiliation or opinion, is reasonably intelligent and has a point no matter what he says (unless it's a statement construed to be fact that's really incorrect or w/e). Nobody here is an idiot; after all, we're all TL members! So much animosity ;; Trash-talking is great fun, but sometimes it's not so much trash talk as "you're an idiot for thinking this or that", etc. A lot of the guys here use pretty strong language, not in terms of offensiveness/profanity, but in terms of certainty/confidence when they post. In essence people are still generally just expressing opinions, and every opinion does have a place--no need for personal attacks or blatant derision ._. If someone's wrong or you disagree, be polite if you do call him out. I'm not saying we should be having a damn tea party here, but I dunno, made some room for others' thoughts I guess? We're all bros here in one way ^^

It's shocking to me that anybody on this forum actually thinks the Miami heat will be favored against the Spurs. SAS is flirting with all time greatness this postseason and has one of the most incredible offenses I have ever seen. Furthermore, since the acquisitions of Boris Diaw and Stephen Jackson, their defense has been 3rd after Chicago and Boston. I feel like OKC is the second best team in the league and San Antonio is demolishing them. The heat will be wiped away by them without second thought.
SA ball movement is truly incredible to watch. Nearly every shot they take is wide open, which is why they have the highest fg efficiency in the league. The heat won't be able to stop this. Really the sole weakness for the Spurs is their post defense which can be exposed versus ultra aggressive player like Zbo+Gasol and Bynum+Gasol. Miami will be a smooth waltz for SAS, no doubt about it.

they won't be favored, but they'll put up a fight imo.

Oddly enough, I think people should discount whatever the Heat's bench does in the ECF. People have claimed they have the least deep team in the playoffs, but the Celtics are just as bad, if not worse.

Has anyone ever swept their way to the finals before?

LA in 2001, although the 1st round was still a best of 5.
Let's not get caried away though. I'm a Spurs fan, some have called me biased, but I don't think the Spurs will sweep the Thunder. If they do, it'll be more due to luck than a real dominance, OKC is definitely good enough to win a game.

I didn't think it would happen so soon, but I think Miami is actually underrated now. For a team that's supposedly 3 players deep, it's pretty impressive how good they're playing without one of the big 3. They're going to make the freaking NBA finals, which a lot of teams can only dream of doing, and they're making it look easy, without a key player! Granted the East is awful, but I still respect that.
I said it in the begining of the playoffs, as a Spurs fan only Miami and Chicago scare me. I thought SA would make the finals relatively easily, but possibly lose to Miami. Now Miami isn't looking as good as I thought, but I still don't think it's going to be easy.

Has any NBA team ever gone undefeated in the playoffs?

no the closest that has happened was the 2001 lakers who swept their way to the finals, lost game one and then won the next four. That was before the first round was a 7 game series though.

Amazing play by the Spurs. They just keep coming back that team. Hoping OKC can win the next two and make it a series though.
Not looking good for my Celts. Way too banged up, and Bradley being out is a massive blow.

Sure, but thats stupid. Wade & LeBron both need the ball and that doesn't work. Look at LeBron when Wade was hurt, he played out of this world. Trading Wade for a BigMan like Dwight would be the best thing. LeBron would average 20apg with Bosh+Dwight. Isn't going to happe, but the team would be alot better with Dwight for Wade.

I would still rather Westbrook shooting a high volume at 40% than OKC bigs ever touching the ball with their incredible 20%. They should do what Barkley said and have Harden start and Westbrook just take every shot for their bench

Still won't be traded anytime soon. And we're still doing great with them.
Something I want to come and mention , OKC and spurs are battling it Hard against each other, by the time spurs make it to the finals, they will be tired out. While Miami looks like they wont need to use to much energy against Boston for the sheer fact that their an old team already as everyone stated.

I'll bet you 50 bucks that the Celtics/Heat series goes more games than the SA/OKC series.
