I don't get it. Isn't there a single armed cop on the island?
When i went to Oslo the street cops werent armed i actually walked up and asked one and he said they keep there side arms locked in their patrol cars. I remember thinking at the time thats a really useless place to have your gun but just chalked it up to me being american and used to everyone being armed.
If Norway is anything like Sweden people wouldn't be very happy if there was any weapon on an island strictly used for a children's summer camp. Prior to this incident at least.
Weird how are you gonna guard anything without a gun? What are they suppose to yell please stop? I know they arent a big fan of guns over there. But shouldnt the cops and gaurds have weapons im mean just in case something like this happen?
Cops yes, there should have been a (real) one with a gun. But who the hell thinks its a good idea to give a security guard a gun? those guys are usually roid-raging police academy dropouts who don't think things through/have behavioral disorders that don't let them be real police, so why should they get guns? Seriously a bad idea.
Edi: Oh nvm you are american, makes sense now.
Seriously a bad idea? I bet the poor people dead on the island wish some body had the horrible idea of having armed gaurds.
captain hindsight protects us all.
I don't want to start pro/against guns discussion, but it is confirmed the guy had an automatic weapon. One pistol is pretty heavily outmatched against that, so yer... having an armed guard there I doubt would've made things much different.
Are automatic weapons legal to own in Norway? If not, how could he have gotten an automatic weapon?
Well, I guess criminals don't really care about the laws...

Quoted for truth, police officers in norway are nowhere near prepared or used to this kind of shit because it just never happens in countries like norway, denmark, sweden

of course they aren't allowed or legal, they are sold to people the same way as cocain, cannabis and other drugs are sold to people, no normal person has an automatic weapon in his house in the northen europe
"The gunman on Utøya has been arresten according to the local police chief. The police chief also said that the two incidents (the bombing in Oslo and shooting at Utøya) had a "clear connection". He would not say what this was based on.

As I said there should have been at least 1 police officer on the island at all times to keep the peace, I was arguing that you shouldn't have a bunch of untrained idiots with questionable mental health holding guns and calling themselves "security" guards, like they do in the US.
It's not our culture. If parents found out someone would be carrying guns at a place their children would be, especially over several days or a weekend, they would never be permitted to go. Guns are for game hunters and the military.

Crazy video, but incredibly foolish. There are a lot of carcinogens floating around in the air after bombs as strong as these, last thing he needs to be doing is running in and getting lung fulls of that dust just to make a video.
Saving some from the rubble on the other hand? I'd say that's worth it.

Which people? Who did this ? Do You know ?
I think he is talking about "Tall, blond, Nordic looking men" As the shooter has been described as. I don't know who else he could be talking about as no one else has been officially implicated in the days events.
