Just from this thread though it's pretty evident that there's a us vs. them dynamic between the BW and SCII community. I was surprised how much I was crucified for writing this topic. I really had no intentions of trolling anyone. In the words of Rodney King, "Can we all just get along?" | ||

Right now the only thing SC2 has going for it is that it is fresh and new unit and strategy wise. Everything else is just inferior. It is well known that many top foreigners dislike SC2. Idra, Nony, Ret, etc. They just play it because the SC2 scene is so big because SC2 is new. Why is SC2 so popular now? Because of the graphics? It is basically the same gameplay concept. Because it is easier to play? I don't understand why there's all these people blowing up the SC2 scene, throwing money at it and raving about how amazing RTS esports is. We had SC BW for 12 years and people outside Korea largely ignored it. Why? Because of flashy graphics that serve nu purpose? And recreating SC BW units in the SC2 engine would actually be the worst thing to do. Same SC2 flaws but now with the same old beaten to death units and strategy. Not to mention I wish SC BW was balanced across all skill levels. Best would be to recreate SC2 in SC BW engine. But I still think Blizzard retained the wrong units and added new ones that aren't that great either. Sentry force field seemed to be the most creative and interesting new idea. But it actually turned out pretty annoying. | ||

It expands the viewer market to more than just those who understand the game thoroughly. In SCII, you can not understand what a 7rax all-in means but still enjoy the game visually because its aesthetically pleasing.
