Now of course this is few of an evidence, but the whole discussion is deeply crackpot anyways, so why bother... US has more severe issues: Guantamano, national debt while having an unreasonably huge military budget, health care, unemployment, pauperization, criminality (because severe punishment does not work for reducing crime rates), reputation in the world, import- to export ratio, a financial industry happily working on the next crisis and much more. | ||

The argument of those who don't believe it were not legal demands, so producing a short-form of his birth certificate should have been sufficient, to demand the long-form is pointless and just dragging the whole thing to a stupid level. People wanted to see proof of birth, its form shouldn't be relevant (regardless if you only know one form, you should find out the number of forms of a document you want to be proved of). | ||

People mistakenly believe that being born in a country is the ultimate sign of your devotion (of course ignoring the fact that no one has control over where they're born) and that it somehow guarantees you'll be more loyal to the cause than you would be otherwise. Nevermind the years of preparation and vetting that go into choosing a candidate, all of those are inadequate compared to the all telling "Where Did Your Mother Dump You Off?" test. | ||

The birth certificate released in 2008 was the form that is given out by the state of Hawaii to anyone who asks for a birth certificate. Each state does it a little differently, but in the case of Hawaii they don't normally issue any other form. It is valid for all legal purposes (getting a driver's license, a passport, etc.) and according to the "full faith and credit" clause of the US Constitution all other states must accept it. If you were born in Hawaii, and you asked for your birth certificate, they would not give you any sort of so-called "long-form". The only reason they made an exception in this case is because of all the attention that the issue has gotten. | ||
