Tenkeyless for me, the numpad just gets in the way of hands being as close as I want them to be.

I know people that have bought and tried like 8 mice, 3 keyboards 3 mousepads and a few headsets in the space of a 3 or 4 years. If they bought a nice set of headphones a nice keyboard and a reliable mouse+pad (mx518 not any of that laser crap and an icemat) they would still be working in 4 years. Maybe variety makes them happy I guess. But anyone that is buying a blackwidow probably has bought gaming keyboards or accessories before and will fall into the same trap of upgrading their hardware when their keys get shiny or the thing dies on them. Topre keys dont get shiny for a long time... still hasnt happened to me.

I've seen some on ebay but they sell for 80-100$ plus shipping from Hong Kong or China which is a bit much since the keyboard is supposed to be rather cheap.

God, so amazing. This is my first mechanical keyboard, I've only gotten to try out a friends cherry browns very briefly. I was pretty set on browns for a while, but I'm glad I got the blues now. I'd recommend this keyboard to anyone, it's sooo good. Seriously, I'm looking for stuff to type up because it feels THAT good.

i'd strongly sugget going and trying out a razer black widow to try out the blues and then the steel series 6g or 7g to try out the cherry blacks. then you'll be able to see the clear difference between tactile bump and non tactile bump. from there's you will be able to say, okay i like blues, blacks, or maybe a middle ground like the brown. the red is just a lighter black (uses less force). i went to the store did my test, knowing what i liked (from the keyboard i'm comfortable with at home from before hand.. i think it was like a MITSUMI mechanical), and when i got the filco brown (from keyboard co) it was wellllll worth the expense/wait. the build quality is superior to leopold, even though leopold is more accessible you pay for that little better.

I particularly like the fact that it has a normal sized Delete key, and no extra buttons or keys. I did nearly drop it the other day when I was cleaning it, was a worrying split second!

It actually takes less force to actuate than either. Think of it as a black that requires less force and has a slight tactile bump.

I'm trying to get one in Canada, but it costs some $150 from the US, and I want Cherry Blues, not Blacks or Browns.

Beside the negative stuff though the keyboard feels absolutely amazing to type on with the blue switches and it looks really great with the back lightning. You really feel the quality ooze sitting in front of it. If it weren't for the macro keys I'm positive that I would've stuck to it. As of now I'm waiting for a 6GV2 keyboard instead which is built more simply like my old keyboard and I think black switches suits me better too. I was looking for a Filco with brown switches first but I couldn't find any with the layout I'm using.

I just bought a 6gv2 and I'm actually not liking it. Not a fault of the keyboards but I'm just so used to the travel and spacing of the keys on the tiny Dell is was using that I think I'm going to switch back. In any case, if anyone wants a Steel Series 6gv2, used for about a week, in pristine condition, for a discount, message me! I live in Northern Virginia for local pickup or delivery. Thanks P.S. Am I allowed to make a post advertising the discounted keyboard? Not sure of the TL rules.

Give time to adjust to your keyboard. You can't say it's good or bad after playing with it for one week. They only affect you as much as you think they affect you. Keys are preferential. But I have never seen someone say that typing with Blacks is more comfortable than typing with Blues or Browns. When you read reviews about mechanical keyboards, don't read for "it feels so great." Read for, it's a solid keyboard. Look for the keyboard design, the shape of the enter key, the backspace key and what else. Those are facts that you cannot change. "Feeling" or someone's opinion should never influence your decision. Look for the facts, not opinions. I only read reviews to read for logical complaints and flaws. I look for the item based on what it has that I want. Search and try the different mechanical key types, Cherry Blues, Browns, Blacks, Topres, etc. Find the keyboards that can have those keys. Any one of those will work. Just look up any extra features you want like backlighting or media keys. I hate when people form opinions about something after minimal use. I think I read a review where the guy openly proclaimed the headphones were terrible after listening to it for two hours. Humans are different because we have the ability to adapt quickly. Use it.

My brain, while playing with the SteelSeries, keeps moving my fingers to set of keys I've been working with for the previous 8 hours at work. I'm not sure I'm able to (or want to) maintain 2 sets of key spacings in my brain for work and then SC2. I think my mental energy, especially at my diamond level, can be better spent on strategy, remembering builds, and other non-input related things. If I was super-serious I could buy a SteelSeries for work as well but 200 dollars crosses my acceptable threshold on input devices; I've got an annoying girlfriend to keep happy.

![]() "Give it time" really is the only thing you need to do here. I type on the work computer, a notebook and the rig at home and I don't have problems with either one. It takes a moment to adjust again but that doesn't take longer than 1 game, especially with all the messengers running at home. When I boot the thing up there's a lot of typing going on before I start laddering. Maybe type stuff just for fun to make your brain remember the positions of the keys. Trust me, your brain is more than capable of remembering more than one layout. For me it has to, anyway, as my Das Ultimate doesn't have any printing on the keys ![]()

It would've been better if they moved those macro keys to the right side instead or something, it's not that they are that useful anyway that you need to have them close to WASD. Also the F keys were placed abnormally far to the right which isn't great for players like me who use some of those keys in-game. The N-key rollover is kinda poor as well compared to other mechanical keyboards, but I guess that doesn't affect SCII too much. But if you play fps and other stuff beside SCII I wouldn't recommend this keyboard. That's kinda silly, you shoulda given it a week. I just got a BW nonultimate and I must say I LOVE it, even though it's not like my old keyboard, I don't mind it at all and I had no problems with it for normal typing use, SC2, and FPS games.
