Dear Artosis and Tasteless, There is constructive criticism here; showing the production tab is (especially) quite helpful as is the other tabs, but goddamn the production tab helps so much. However, make sure to keep your confidence! I love Tastosisisms, gives a lot more character to casting. (Such as random stuff you guys just talk about, the bromance, and funny/unfunny jokes. They're always funny, dont worry lawl)
Tasteless, don't beat up on yourself between every game... Tell your opinion on whether a strategy is good or not and why like Artosis is doing, maybe even offer counterpoints to Artosis' opinions.
Artosis, SO MANY _____________! Kyrix made alot of something and I was missing it today... lol
And maybe rather than "definitely going to be a gg here...", perhaps something more exciting like "WILL HE ______ blankety, blank" (I'm not a caster lawl). The energy level of the casters determine the energy level of the viewers.
I would also like to request something, foU has been doing really well this season. Do you guys know anything about the clans? And maybe more info on Korean tourneys or stuff. Kinda interested what else goes on in Korean SC2 scene other than the GSL.
The casting archon of Tasteosis has definitely gotten better and is alot of fun to watch. Keep the character, maybe give a bit more enthusiasm at the end of the game (lol maybe for the finals go Korean on us and yell JEEEEEEEEEEEE JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE), and know both of you kick ass!

I think he still hates SC2 =/
Dont think he hates SC2 but going by his mumbo jumbos from his pcbang there are a lot of burnt bridges between him gomtv and blizzard sadly. I liked him, good to see him doing well for himself but sad at his disillusion with SC2.
It's a shame cause I would kill to see Tasteless + SDM casting for Gom.
The imba commentary as stated above is getting ridiculous, if a Zerg looses its "this is impossible to stop/soooooo hard with a voice that makes u want to slit your wrists.... if a Terran or protoss loose its "Terran/protoss did bad"
its so bias its getting to the point where i have to mute the stream. and im paying for this shit ;-/
dont get me wrong, i love artosis's coverage in GSL qualifiers and other tours, but his commentary is getting old and redicilously stupid seeing as Zerg is doing the best in all events around the world.. and has the least amount of players world wide. but im sure "sience u choose to play Zerg, ur just 90times better then every other player."
One thing that really turns me off about their commentary is that they tend to give the win to a player way too early on. It kind of kills any sort of excitement in a game when 10 minutes before the game is over, the only thing the commentators are saying is something along the lines of "We should see GG any minute now"
Even if the game is obviously skewed to favor one side, I think it's important to keep that level of excitement up because that's what makes it fun to watch. If you watch Korean commentators, half the time that the GG actually comes, they have to interrupt whatever screaming and yelling they were doing before to say GG.
Watching Tastosis, a lot of the time about 5 minutes before the game is over, the excitement dies down and everyone is just waiting for the GG to come. Try to keep the excitement level up for the whole game!
My biggest problem is actually with Tasteless. And just one small thing. I would love if he kept production tab open at all times! Keep production open, and just briefly check on unit/income/resource tabs for just a ~3sec from time to time, or when it's needed.
Keep production tab open!
Artosis is great. And i think his knowledge of game and it's balance is spot on.

but with the hating on Random and that all Random = Cheeser Statement. Artosis lost much respect in my book.
Siriusly ?.... He lost your respect for stating something so bluntly obvious ? Random is so cheesy to play. Random either cheese themselves with great success and variety of tactics...OR They get cheesed themselves because they try to avoid early scouting so as not to give away their race.
Only random players i would give respect (FOR playing random, they can have my respect for personality or skill any day) are actually those that will type their race in chat at the start.

Well he didn't say that all random players cheese. He just said that it's really common for random players to cheese, which it definitely is. I mean... I can see why, it's hard to learn every matchup like they have to. I really wanted the random guy to win I've got a lot of respect for non-cheesing random players especially at this level
I believe anyone who listened to Tasteless back in the WCG - Gom Classic days would agree that Tasteless is no longer what he used to be.
- He rarely says something smart or gives out a thoughtful remark nowadays. Think of the last time Tasteless made you say "wow that's so true I didn't see that". He almost completely leaves the technical analysis part to Artosis which is a pity considering his background.
- He's no longer funny like he used to be. As a fan, I'm sad to say this but half of his jokes were predictable and even awkward sometimes.
- He doesn't try often enough to bring in excitement. When a player is close to being defeated, Tasteless won't even bother to keep his level of enthusiasm. It's a big turn off to hear him saying about GG especially when the losing player is still trying hard to hold it. It's unrespectful to the players and unnecessarily damages his credibility when comebacks happen.
- He doesn't seem to take care of his voice, which is a commentator's greatest asset.
- Worst of all, I don't think he's that passionate about casting anymore and doubt if he still reads fans' critisms (he used to answer feedbacks on TL a lot)
As much as I love Tasteless, I think it's time for Gom to create a little bit of competition by hiring a third regular caster. A lot of commentators would kill to have the opportunity that Tasteless is enjoying.
Liking a lot of the comments being posted, lots of constructive feedback...now I know this isn't the first thread of its nature but I felt that with the new season, and with Tastosis always evolving and not being exact same Tastosis as previous seasons, that a new thread was merited.
Couple things that have been mentioned:
1) Camera control, this is probably the #1 recurring point since the day 1 of the GSL, and while it has improved by leaps and bounds I would agree that it could get better, I think getting a little smoother with the spectator hotkeys and using the minimap more will benefit camera control the most. I wondered if perhaps the best solution to both the problems of camera control and Tasteless being mentally distracted to the point of echoing Artosis would be to have someone else control the camera, that way Tasteless would be able to 100% focus on interpreting what he's seeing...but ultimately I think that the play-by-play caster has to have control of the camera otherwise they are too helpless and cannot control the pace of commentary effectively.
2) Artosis being zerg biased because he is a zerg player...well this is a good point, it would be unfair to expect him to maintain absolute objectivity since he is personally invested in one race, and that actually gives his commentary a unique flavor that can be very insightful...I guess a more ideal solution would be if Tasteless still played Random and just played the game more often, so that he could offer a more standard, objective viewpoint on the game (ala Day9 who still plays Random afaik)
3) Artosis "dissing" Randoms as cheesers...well as a Random player I was conflicted at this comment, because it's true that there's no way a Random player is going to be as proficient at all the matchups on all the maps, although someone with naturally good RTS skills can be very well-rounded and do quite well with Random, BUT the biggest advantage of Random is that your opponent doesn't know which race you are at the beginning at the best way to take advantage of that is to cheese.

It would be nice if they could try to be slightly more impartial and make less sweeping statements.
That would really help.
However, I have to give it to Artosis for living up to his name as a walking encyclopedia for all things Starcraft.

so.... you want them to pretend a player still has a chance when the game is clearly over?

They've been living there how long? It took me like a week. It would help a ton when they're reading player's names or when the camera cuts to placards in the audience.
I know the language is tough, but it would be great if I could tell they understand some of it.
This I really agree with. And that should go for all foreigners staying in Korea. I am certain that some, or maybe even all, of them are really trying, but it can only be benificial to know the language of the country you live, and cast in, properly.
And I also agree with all of OP's point, at least to some degree.
he should learn all the spectator hotkeys like tyrless said instead of having to mousedrag them all, allowing him to constantly switch between each so some people could see what other things are going.
