1: They don't want LAN. You think they're busy programming it? They already have LAN play in official blizzard licensed events like MLG etc. They just refuse to give it to normal players and tournaments that aren't officially licensed
2: I didn't lose. I won 2-1.

Luckily no discs for me, but couple of time opponent or me lagged.

Do you guys really want server stability?

Hmm?

I didnt know MLG was run on lan for sc2.
|
lol what a coincidence. I had my first drop ever yesterday.

Yah I had all of two hours to play before work, was actually looking forward to it all day due to the fact I work 12 hr shifts so I get on all happy as can be, throw up a 2v2 random to warmed up, doing fairly well no cheese and partner didn't blow chunks. Strict legit game (note how surprised and pleased I am, it's this rare) only to dc after the first fight due to whatever the heck is going on in Bnet atm. I know it's not internet connection, was loading pages fine. Got the same waiting for server/surrender button popup. Log back on 5 mins later, try again. Get booted right away. So now I'm at work with and haven't played SC2 in like 3 days *twitch* Also is the Ustream lag/dc for the Spartan LAN anything to do with this? Because I load other Ustreams just fine e.g. dc/md lan but i prefer iCCup :/

Instead of just saying "hmm?" which accomplishes nothing and makes you seem ignorant (which you are), why don't you go look up interviews with blizzard where they said we won't get LAN play but that a special LAN-enabled client would be used at blizzard-sanctioned tournament events.

That official Tournament LAN isn't even out yet AFAIK.

I was getting 1-2 second delay in a custom 1v1 with a friend. Also in a 2v2 afterward our opponents both DC'd.
something may be up..

Btw orb, you were playing at the DC/MD LAN? Thought about going but work :/ good thing I didn't, I see gretorp and you were there, I'd get roflstomped Sorry the referees suck and couldn't see the clear advantage (from what you said).

Replay's up in the thread if you want to see
Everyone that has seen it has said the terran was either at a large disadvantage or plain didn't have a chance.
Either way in a disconnect situation the win should be awarded to such a large advantage.
These retarded rules support people just pulling the plug when they start to get a disadvantage.

I've disconnected twice and got losses for both.

I was on two base with an equal army, 3x the income, higher tech, and better positioning when the disconnect happened. The admins ruled a regame. To give a history of the match, IsAi literally did the exact same build all three games (all in infantry off one base). First game I lost, second game I easily held it off after I knew what was coming and took a shit on his face. Third game was going even better than the second game (laughed at his first push with 7 SCVs and killed it all without losing a unit) and then it disconnected. On the re-game he fast expanded (might have been 14CC, was extremely early) since he had all in'd off one base the first 3 games. He wouldn't've had that opportunity to change his playstyle and fake me out without the disconnect as it was a bo3 not bo5, and thus since he had already lost the bo3 he lost the tournament. However, since the admins ruled for a regame and he abused this opportunity, he beat me with the fast expansion and proceeded to trash talk profusely and advance to the semifinals where I guarantee he will get his face shit on by literally anyone else in this tournament as his crappy all in playstyle doesn't fly with players like gretorp and lastshadow Just saw that noob losing to a one scv harass so i know how you feel :p

Alright, how about instead you read the interviews saying they don't have one made?
Here is where the rumor was started. http://www.sc2blog.com/2010/06/14/starcraft-ii-professional-edition-with-lan-support/
Here is where is was proven false. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=132653
ChrisSi: any rumors you've heard about a "pro edition" are just rumors. We've made no official announcements about that. We will address the needs of pro tournaments and eSports in a patch in the months after the release of SC2. (Guest 200)
The first was June 14th, the second July 15th.
Plus, the GSL is not on LAN. Neither was IEM. Both Blizzard sanctioned.
Ball is in your court, Orb.
|
Yeah, its been shotty today
|
Yup, LAN is still not here and probably never will, it would make SC2 piracy more appealing.
MLG uses battle.net like everyone else.
|
I had a little bit of trouble, but my connection pulled through, one game I was 5 base to one base terran and I was gonna get dropped just before i was about to roll him, i woulda been pissed
|
Can you imagine a GSL lag drop? I hope it happens when they get back in the arena. Would be so satisfying for anyone who ever wanted lan to be available to see a huge prize be messed up over a disconnect.
Edit:
Yes, I got dropped unexpectedly today, but something I've been noticing in custom games is people who are "pending" but don't ever get into the game, but the game starts without them anyways.
Also been seeing blank screens with nothing in the place where players usually are, but I can still talk in chat. That might be on my end though.

I got disc right when the game started -.- i will just play the campaign i haven't finished yet -.-
