It's ok to have akward situations.
xD nice one btw how can someone be offended if being called a nigger/-a.. maybe it's just me, but after watching chappelles show i say nigger/bitch all the time.
the other day i went into my buddys appartment, i jsut walked in and yelled, yo nigga hurry up we're leaving soon.
as a walked further in i saw two of his roomates sitting watching tv, both were black. There was sort of an awkward stare on boths sides, untill one of them went, "it's cool man" then laughed

XD What would've made it even better if you just looked at them and said "What's up playa's?" XMFD
Of course not. If it came on i would sing it. "Nigger" is a casual term between my friends and I in all situations. For example, if one of them would drop something, i would say "good job, nigger." It's so completely casual i don't think about it.

what about asians?
they're allowed, cause its really funny hearing Asians act all gangsta
Iunno, in Toronto there are some pretty Thugged-out asians.
Also, in Toronto (a very multicultural city) I've never seen anyone actually get offended by the term nigger. Only people I see are old people, but any cuss will get them angry.
pretty much nobody uses the word Nigger anymore except for actual racists. Rap songs almost exclusively use nigga which isn't that offensive if you're singing along and say it. If anyone finds that offensive they would probably be too uptight to even be listening to that kind of music in the first place so the situation would never present itself.
Its actually been a while since I heard nigga used casually in conversation. Its usually used jokingly and pretty much never to refer to a black person.
This thread reminds me of this kid at a spelling bee having to spell the word. What's more ironic is that there was some negus behind his parents.... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2e7_1227058992&p=1 (youtube is down atm wtf) I have grown accustomed to not say this word much but I don't have no african american friends, so saying it is not much of a problem for me in the first place.

I can't think of any concrete examples from my past experiences, but I think I would keep singing along as if it were any other curse word. I find it weird that someone could find it acceptable to repeat words like fuck, cunt, fucking cunt etc. but saying the n-word is crossing the line. I could see how someone could be offended, but I don't believe that they should be. Any thoughts or anecdotes on this scenario or on the n-word in general?
It's all contextual. The n-word is offensive because of the fact that black people were shipped over as slaves to America and were treated very badly. Therefore it's not just a word, it carries alot of meaning. Then again cunt and other words regarding women and their genitalia (pussy comes to mind) carry alot of meaning too. Women haven't exactly been treated that well historically either, and that's why these words make people sensitive, for good reason.
Now, if you see it as JUST a word then fine. However I disagree with that notion. Our languague is a powerful tool and we define everything around us with language and the words we use are central in giving things meaning. Thus the word "nigger" is not just a word made up of 6 letters, it's a concept.
Anyways, like I said it's contextual. So while you might sit at home screaming nigger along with the lyrics to a hip-hop song it's not really an issue if you aware of it's connotations and just do it to be able to sing along. If you however call black people niggers to their face you should know better and will probably understand that it's not just a word.
