Then we (about 8 people) topped each other off with nigger jokes for 5 minutes straight. I think there were like 20 jokes at least. Clearly there is something left oppressed. We felt all a little akward afterwards. (no black people were present) | ||

Anyway, I don't think it's that much of a deal, and neither do my black friends. As long as it's not used in an obviously hateful sentence, that is. The word has different meanings depending on it; "zup niggah?" and "fuck you, nigger!" for examples. Just have some common sense on when and where you use it. | ||

Racism has nothing to do with subsequent sounds forming a word, its just a world its harmless itself it is how it is used, if its used to denigrate a black person then its racist, if its not, then its harmless. | ||

I listen to a lot of rap, and in those songs they say the word nigga a lot, and it's not used in a degenerative way so I don't consider it offensive. However, if I know people are around who might view it in a different light I would indeed self censor myself. My friends agree with me though so if it was just them, I would keep singing. | ||
