I feel that why black culture was willing to integrate the word nigger/nigga freely into modern day vocabulary was that in the past the meaning was so harsh that it was 100x worse than any curse word you could use. By using it freely it trivializes it and the strong meaning of the word can lose some of it's power. A word loses it's power through overuse. Gay could easily be a harsh derogatory word, but with today the way it is if someone said omg that's so gay, I wouldn't even think about it. It's not my intention to argue that nigger and gay are words people should thoughtlessly say as it pleases them. If someone was actually gay the overuse of such a word might bother them. Maybe they did this because subconsciously that's how that generation dealt with it. By turning a weapon into one used amongst brothers. | ||

black people call each other niggas. it is used widely in their music. BUT THEN SOMEHOW whenever someone else uses it even though it is OBVIOUSLY not in an offensive way at all, black people like to get all hyped up and go all "EY WUT YOU SAY? WAT YOU JUS CALL ME?" it seems like a big portion of black people just get all excited because it's socially accepted for black people to get excited every god damn time someone that's not black uses the word nigger, which is absolute undiluted horsepiss. and i hate people feeding this bullshit, putting them on a pedestal and trying to edge their way around it and trying to be politically correct and all that shit. OMG IT WAS A HUNDRED YEARS AGO AND YOU DONT MEAN IT IN THAT WAY JESUS CHRIST NO ONE GIVES A FUCK. been hanging out a lot with the exchange students here from spain, italy, mexico, france, poland etc etc and they all use the word "nigger" when refering to a black person because that's what they are for them, but they use it in an absolutely non offensive way, and it makes things sooo much easier than saying ridiculous shit like "the black man" or "colored" or any other stupid term society has hammered into our skulls. it's a fucking word. no one means it in that way. get the fuck over it. | ||

FORSc2, have you ever said "That's so gay" around a gay person without them getting offended? It is quite rude. I say "that's gay" all the time, yet whenever Im around a gay person i know not to use it simply because it is rude and i'm stupid for using it in the first place. You are right though, overuse of a word kills off any meaning, Goodmorning, How are you? That's great, Nice to see you. Etc | ||
