Mostly, the same as it is everywhere else. I'm just talking about the performances. Eh, there's some US and UK pop where the groups actually have some musical talent. Feels like we partially outgrew that stuff once acts like the Spice Girls and Britney Spears bit the dust. Maybe Korea and Japan are about a decade behind us there. I mean, yeah, there'll always be vapid pop prettified by kewpie doll girls (and boys), but how seriously it gets taken/how popular it is will be diminished. just to note, most kpop is regurgitated stuff from 90s/2000s american pop crap.
More like Scandinavian-composed stuff - see Ice Cream Cake by Red Velvet for evidence

Who's emotional investment do you mean? Cuz back then if you didn't win the finals of a starleague you just continued playing on your team. Now if you don't win the finals it can potentially cost you your livelihood and you can go flip burgers. There's no safety net like that right now.

I really liked SSL11 and followed it pretty much all the way through, staying up late nights here on the Pacific Coast to watch the games live. Few complaints, other than I think Mind vs Hero would've been a better Finals.
It may not be a true 'back in the day' OSL or an MSL, but it's pretty darn good and the best we have right now, and/or will have, unless Bliz re-releases BW in some sort of updated form and all the hypeuuuu truly comes back.
Be thankful for what you have.

Quite an irony considering Bisu does have a "safety net" and is probably the biggest of any of the current expros
In addition hes not the face of Kongdoo for nothing and OGN acceded to his request for winXP unlike EffOrt.

And while the final was going on, a few players (including NaDa) were happily streaming... Weird...

Zero was also re-streaming and commentating for a while before he switched to 2v2, possibly because of some balloons? Mong was the venue.

I rather see BW die than have DK/browder do their nonsense on this game.

I don't like how we're delving into "not real OSL " and "less emotional investment " (LMAO wHo Cares HaHA am I right) just because Bisu got destroyed in straight sets.

Ah sorry about that! I shouldn't doubt the bonjwa passion!
I hope NaDa plays competitively again. Would be great for the scene!
BTW, where is Jangbi? Now that Protoss is at the brink of extinction (or so BD claims), we need a new hero from Aiur!

DK/Browder are pretty much scrubs compared to the BW design team, it would be horrible to watch them crap all over BW.

Jangbi is in the military, I believe. I think Best might be coming back though? I was never big on Best, but it'd be cool seeing him back.

Yeah, but the prize pools are a fraction of what the OSL prize pools were in the heyday.
It's incredible what Sonic's done, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking it's exactly the same.

Unless he becomes a coach somewhere his flashy esports career will likely be of no use to him.

Play Vain Glory!
(It's funny seeing players on a stage furiously tapping away on a mobile)

This IS a problem. With Hero and Effort, there are great Zergs, with Mind and Ssak there are great Terrans, but the Protoss bench is looking awfully thin at the top level with Bisu gone for two years to fight Kim Jong Un.

He's going to be making most of his money elsewhere.
Fortunately he has looks on his side, he should have a pretty good TV career.
