Please read below. There have been some MAJOR changes!
THE BIG CHANGE: This is going back to true D-/D/D+ ONLY.if you have hit C- at ANY point you'll be ineligible this time around. In case of seemingly strong players without ladder results they will be evaluated by a committee consisting of myself, and several others (TBA). It's subjective, but that is how it's going to be done.
It hasn't been an issue in the past but I want to be abundantly clear. If you have been C-/C/B/A++ at any point, do NOT post your max rank as D+ xxxx pts. This applies to any account. If you've been 5000 pts on one account, but only 2700 on another your max rank must be posted as 5000.
Failure to read and follow this properly will result in a permanant ban from ALL future D Ranks events.[/big]

Format and Date:
There will be 32 players, Dual Tournament style groups.

Who can play:
This league is only for D-/D/D+ rank players who are willing to participate consistently. This means MAX RANK. On ANY account. You cannot signup with a D account if you have been yellow or higher on another.
You may ask to play even if you don't fit the criteria and we will review the case.
**The exception are players with previous DRTL/DRIT entries. Most of these players are exempt for having to inform me of their situation as I already am aware.**

New Players to DRIT: Please include your ICCup account name that has at least 20 games played, minimum 10 replays at least 10 minutes long PM'd either to Nagisama or Sync[gm]. Your TL account must also be older than the start of this thread with minimal exceptions. The decisions by the admins for your entry are final.

You guys have all hit C-, and if I start allowing in...it's a slippery slope. Like one guy gets there with 300-500 stats, next guy wants in cause he got 250-375 stats, etc. until we have guys with like 40-40 wanting in.
LiR I understand sorta where you are coming from, and part of this is a product of ICCup being a shitty system to use (Birdie's stuff should be much better), but I do disagree with you. Any D+ player cannot hit C- just by laddering. They still need to beat other D+ 34% of the time. Not anyone that hits D+ can do this.

If you want to play, go ladder 20-30 games and I'll make decision. Otherwise it stands as you have been a solid DRTL performer, and that is with your tendency to play pretty subpar to what you do in practice. Being a midpack DRTL guy basically means you can hit C- since the league is half C- players anyway.

Yea, that is the problem for me. It probably isn't. But the league is so full of guys that can at least hit, and many stay, C- that being an average league performer means you can almost certainly hit C- with alot of games.
Just look at DRIT6. Every single player in Ro16 was C-, with the exception of Arca and art of turtle. And there were 3 or 4 other C- guys knocked out

Ever. Not even over 2950 as a matter of fact. To be honest, my D+ usually fluctuates at around 2300 - 2500 mostly. I don't think it's fair that I'm excluded from this league as I still lose to people who are D/D+, I am a very inconsistent player. Not to mention that my ladder record last season was something akin to 30-70 before a /clearstats. If it turns out that I do get C- at any point in time feel free to exclude me from this league, but I am a D+ player. Always have been.

If you really had a 100 games in ladder and had never once hit C-, then I will let you play. That's enough games that I wouldn't put you in the category of "good player but never really ladders".

I usually play 200 - 300 games over each season. I clearstats quite often .

Shouldnt we evaluate a set of replays for people who are on the threshold of d+/c-? It seems more fair than relatively arbitrary decisions.

ICCup rank is a shitty system, but it isn't arbitary. If you hit C- you can't play. Period.
If you mean players that don't ladder enough to have a rank, then we are looking at them on a case by case bases looking at ladder results, DRTL results, and replay analysis.

Not a stupid rule either imo. Have to set a cap somewhere, somehow. We saw what happened with a year+ of no hard cap: A mostly C- league broke out.
ICCup rank sucks for this, but until we have Bird server and ELO style bases ranks, its the best way we have. Unless you have a better solution that involves some quantitative way to control league skill.

I've always been a ladder hero, ive been playing DR leagues for a long time and this is the best ive managed to do yet ._.
Barring super time consuming tedious checking of players match histories etc etc i dont think there is a real way.

That second sentence is what I mean. Don't get me wrong, ICC rankings blow for this, but you have to have some sort of cap.
To me that means the rule itself doesn't suck, but the way we have to implement it does. No cap just doesnt work. You either have to be arbitrary, which has its own set of issues, or you get what happened in DRTL: continued skill inflation. Let guy A in, so now guy B should be, and then its to the point where people are so used to players the players we are playing are new top of the league players like RulZ, tonight, Samgohan, knightpraetor, etc.
Hopefully in a few months there will be a much better system though.

Have fun spending a few hundred gas to secure an air expo unless you want to sneak a main. You only have 100 apm? Well, half of that is gonna go to transporting units around in dropships.

His play is absolutely flawed in every single way imaginable, and that's why I made a point to smash him 10-0 on iccup using ridiculous strategies. Could I get some confirmation on whether or not I'm actually playing in this thing so I know to show up or not? I realise you said yourself LMaster that I'm back onto the waiting list, but then I had sync as well as the wiki page telling me otherwise. Unfortunately you weren't in the initial group stages, and I wasn't aware you had thrown your name into the hat for being an alternate. Right before I posted that someone brought up that you had hit C-, and after confirming had no option but to remove you from the tour. I wish it could have been resolved earlier so that you didn't have to wait, but I wasn't aware of the issue until about 5 minutes before I posted that.

Sorry, I didn't want to argue about your decision. I just think that the rule (or its implementation without any exceptions) doesn't make much sense, because people don't seem to ladder here. You can probably become C- by beating D- all day. So the rule doesn't serve the only purpose it has: making sure that the difference in skill is not too big. (as for me personally: I'm freaking bad and probably wouldn't stand a chance past the group stage)

Yea, initially the OP was written for a 32 man field. Since we started with Ro16 groups, it will be the Ro8 on Nov 9th, and will be Bo3. Pairing will be released tonight or tomorrow morning.

The reason I pulled all my SCVs onto my tanks was because I couldn't build any turrets so I thought I might as well go to where there were some to keep them alive rather than losing them all. ^^
Ah well, more practice and DRTL for me and hopefully if I get to play in one of these again I'll show better games. ^
Oh and I'm not sure if he necessarily got it from Hiya, but Hiya on Stream has been using that 2 fact 2 port wraith play quite a lot on a variety of maps. I wanted to learn it but against tank goliath although it works it's incredibly difficult if the other guy knows what he's doing (unlike me) :p

People always go on and on about TvT requiring patience to watch, but i'd happily remove every other race in the game if it meant I could play TvT all day every day. Could you imagine a Broodwar world where every single game was Flash vs Fantasy or Flash vs Firebathero? My god it'd be the best!

I actually made a post about this in DRIT 8 thread. Basically the day of the finals iccup was down and when I tried to reschedule with Pebble he said "[12/29/2013 1:33:31 AM] Pebble: hi, no i cannot play broodwar anymore sorry" Maybe that changed since I noticed he played in one of Draw's tourneys so if Pebble wants to play I'm open to trying to finish this.

Basically the day of the finals iccup was down and when I tried to reschedule with Pebble he said "[12/29/2013 1:33:31 AM] Pebble: hi, no i cannot play broodwar anymore sorry" Maybe that changed since I noticed he played in one of Draw's tourneys so if Pebble wants to play I'm open to trying to finish this.
Although I'm not the admin, ideally, at least finishing the finals would be great. I need something to show that there was at least a winner for the entire tourney.
Plus, it'd give me something to update the overall statistics with too.
