I dont think Naugrim is that much better than Haypro, but Haypro recently quitted BW like 1 month ago so he shouldn't be #1 anymore.

YPang PMed me some question I thought I might answer them here.

1. Whats the main difference between the 9min and 10min push? What if he went 2 hatch muta? that means i'll HAVE to add another rax making a total of 3 rax yes? Or mass turrets work too?

2. U moved out with your army after you saw his main hatchery morphing into a hive right? And not just blindly move with a mindset of "9min i MUST go out"

3. Would upgrading irridating earlier be good to kill those mutas so they dont cause significant damadge to the small 1.5 group of MnM and 3 tanks. I suppose it can be considered a preference...

4. Can you please kindly go over what is the main goal of the 3 rax before fac build and how it varies with the 9min 2 rax fac build?


  • The main difference between the 9:40minPush and the 9minPush is that the latter creates an equally strong force 40 seconds earlier, with already second vessel (or dropship) and a 4th tank making and finnished before 9:40, whereas the 9:40minPush has slower upgrades and just finnished first Vessel/3rd tank and equal amount of barracks.
    This way the 9minPush only has advantages, however thats not true.
    By adding 3 rax before your factory, and also academy before second barrack, allows you to set early preassure on the zerg, usually towards his 3rd base. This can draw the muta attention from your base and sometimes even kill the zergs 3rd.
    This is in my oppinion the best benefit from the 9:40 push.
    I've experimented alot with both of them and I've found that I like the 9minPush better since it will grant you superfast upgrades and often catch zergs offguard.
    The reason how you can have an equal amount of marines is because you add a second barrack before the academy, whereas with the standard 3rax you add academy after refinary.

    I will post VODs of how to handle 2hatch, but briefly I usually go with the 2 barrack before academy and then add 2 more barracks making it a total of 4 barracks and no factory for a mass marine preassure strat kind of build. I will go into that more later. If you still feel that your question hasn't been answered be sure to let me know. But remember that in that VOD I just totally fucked up my army, the army was big enough to kill his units in a fair fight.

  • That is good thinking. Yes you should scan his base before you move out. I'm not sure if I did it in this video, but since I was going to show you the 9minPush I moved out anyway. If you scout his queensnest or hive making then you should move out.
    If you don't see any tech, but rather another hatchery, thats an indication that he is massing up units. This should make you stay in your base and wait for the 2-1 upgrade to finnish.
    You upgrades will most likely be better than the zerg's and your army will be huge with 2 or 3 vessels. But be sure that you have practiced moving around big armys before trying this. You can move out alittle though to set some preassure on him and then go back.
    Right after 2-1 is finnished, start upgrading 3-2, thats what makes this build even stronger.

  • There will be 2 groups of marines with 1-0 and range/stim. Those early mutalisks will hardly cause any damage, + he sees vessel and might be extra careful.
    I suggest you save that gas for making a drop and a fourth tank and 2-1 upgrade and use defensematrix instead on key units in the fight or on the dropship. His defilers won't be out so you will not need the irradiate.

  • I belive I've answered this on your first question. 9min is stronger in my oppinion, getting faster upgradezs and an equally strong army much faster. However you will not be able to set early preassure on your opponents natural or 3rd, Basically. I might discuss these matters more in detail in another VOD.


LOcDowN I'm using:

early game:
CC 2
rax 4 and then 5 when factory is finnished
factory 4
natural CC 3

later:
factory with machineshops 4 and 5
rest 6 7 8 (9)
scan 9 0
units 123 (lategame flashbuild 1 vult 2 vult 3 tank 4 tank 5gol+vessel)

tips:
to macro units from factory practice 4t5t6789

5 tank
6 click vulture with mouse 7 8 9 same
This will allow you to macro from all factories very fast while you are still with your screen in the attack. This will also allow you to easily set new rally points for reinforcements while pushing or attacking.

In early game when i produce I mostly use hotkeys to macro from all buildings. 2s3s produces scvs and then 4t5t6789 for units. In the very lategame i might have hotkeys for more than 3 groups of units and then I only use f4 to go back to my macromode area and macro manually.

Hehe the A-Yu-Mi build. I also have a version I developed if I scout 12 hatch so I can get my cc right away, as well as one copied straight from A-Yu-Mi. I think your version is really good, it gets the marines a bit faster, though your economy is slightly weaker. I think it's also good to note that it's important not to let the zerg see all your marines, so maybe hide some of them and have a couple patrol around for overlords.

Yes, you should try to make it look like you go 2 rax standard, I mention this in my Build-order VOD. However the most important thing is to get to his base at the correct timing.
I think the economy will get slightly weaker, however it will be more safe(specially on a 4player map where it can be risky doing suply/rax/cc build), you won't have to make a bunker, have more marines and faster barracks, for reasons i explain in the VOD, and that is better in my oppinion since the whole idea with this build is to break his natural right before muta or lurker pop.
I'm glad you people like the VODs so far. It's what keeps me doing them^^

I don't know if you feel this would be a waste of time.. but would you mind doing an FPVOD of the most standard bio TvZ build there is? I know to learn other builds but I would think having a standard strategy to base all other new strategies around would be beneficial but I dunno

mm, i sorta get the point, but often times i see people do a build that gets BOTH their Ebay AND Academy BEFORE their 2nd Rax. To me that doesn't allow enough marine production to set significant damadge and kill his 2nd expo? Do they just get both ebay and academy before the 2nd rax to have more rines/ +1 attack to fight off against mutas? And how does that BO fair against the 9min push? Is this bo another variation of the 9:40?

Hazz: You can learn the 9minPush as your standard but i will do the 9:40 for you guys aswell.

YPang: Thats to get +1 for the muta harass. Also early academy will allow faster stim and a faster bat/medic so you can move out and preassure the second expansion without having to worry too much about zerglings. You will have just abit faster +1 attack but much slower +2 +1 armor in the midgame.

After I'm finnished with my current project I will do the old standard TvZ build for you guys. 3 rax tech into vessel. If I have time I'll try to look into builds for 2 hatch aswell.
