This was something I found on Fomos, but knowing fomos boards they barely source any of their pictures so I can't say who actually really made it but here it goes (translation btw)
How to do effective building placements on Tears of the Moon
If you are a Protoss player like me, you know how much you hate this map. But if you are a good Protoss player you have to know how to overcome obstacles like these as the rule of life goes 'nothing will work the way you want it to.' One of the big things about Tears of the Moon is that no matter how many cannons you make, you will always, always be vulnerable to a Hydra Break. After careful analysis, the only location where you have a good chance of defending off a Hydra Break is 3 oclock. 6o'clock is almost impossible to defend due to the fact it has very little spot to build anything. This is a guide to show you how to block off zergling attacks by smart building placements on a 2 way entrance like this.
So let us get this stared.
6 O'CLOCK
1st Picture: This is the basic simcity you must do at 6'oclock. The reason why the cannons are kinda far away is because there might be a break from the back. Simple stuff. 2nd Picture: Now, you can see there is a small hole which a zergling can enter but nobody else can. If you are afraid that there might be a backside breach with zerglings, place a zealot between the Nexus and Gateway so the front can be easily fended off. 3rd Picture: In this picture we can see what happens when there is a zergling break from the top. By selecting the minerals in your main, you can easily fend it off with the usage of probes. But there is still a chance zerglings will come from the behind so just use a zealot! 4th Picture: Now if this happens, select the mineral on the very left and then select the mineral of your main base. Like the picture above, this will happen which will allow you to defend your cannon very easily with your probes. Remember, the cannon HAS to be on the spot shown on the picture or your PROBE AI WILL NOT WORK LIKE THIS.
I would like to add when you start at 6 oclock, don't build your robotics on your expo, instead put it in your main base because when the come from the behind your reaver can be (somewhat) safe on higher ground.
3 O'CLOCK
1st Picture: 3 o'clock is probably the most simple simcity. Done like an average game but! I would like to say please build the robotics on your main base. Because of the vulnerable backside your reaver can get raped the second it tries to fight, which is bad and a waste of money. 2nd Picture: This is a basic scenario. Your robotics is down and the lings are attacking your cannon! But what about the front of your base? Because of the Forge, Gateway, Core, Dragoon + 1 cannon it is impossible for zerglings to break through so you can concentrate on the backside. 3rd Picture: Like I said previously, select the very right mineral patch and select your main. You will easily fend off the lings once again. But ofcourse, in reality you will not have 2 cannons to fend off both zerglings and hydras ;;
10 O'CLOCK
1st Picture: This is the basic simcity you must do at 10 o'clock Excuse me for the picture, it filled up the whole screen so I couldn't show everything ;; Some of you are probably wondering why the cannon isn't directly on top of the forge. After testing many placements, I have concluded building it here is a far better idea than building it out there. When you find out your opponent has decided to do all in lings or hydra break, then you can build more out there, but this should be where your first cannon is. 2nd Picture: This is what it looks like when zerglings will come from the backside. I want to say this once again, don't build the robotics in your expo, please. If they come from the back you wasted so much money. Please build in on top of the ramp. 3rd Picture: OH NOES! Select your VERY TOP MINERAL then proceed to select the mineral in your main base. By doing this, you can easily defend your back cannon. Also, if you build your cannon above your forge, your 1st cannon would not reach this cannon making defending much harder. 4th Picture: Now lets say your zealot/goon died and your frontside was broken. 5th Picture: Select the most bottom mineral at your expo then select one on your main. The AI will make the probes move like this making it easier to defend the cannon.
Easy isn't it amirite gusy? Oh after the lings, how do you defend the hydras? Simple answer Build cannons all over the world. Seriously. This has been a Sgeller with How to defend on Tears of the Moon goodbye
Is this post in the right place?

There is a thread for such posts by Bluzman. It's probably more convenient to have all such mini-guides to be in one place than scattered about the forum. Thanks for the translation anyway.

Yes it is. Thank you for your translation.

I think this thread should just be linked from the "wall thread" or contents copy pasted and sourced. This info definitely deserves time in the spotlight, but it should be linked so we can find it again Thanks for your work MrHoon~
There's a thread for FE sim city positions somewhere. The probe drill thing hasn't been done before. I mean taking them into consideration. It's really nice how they drill perfectly where you need them.
Thanks for the translation Mrhoon, Now we should start doing some on other maps! like medusa chupung etc which are MotW for iccup!

Thanks and good job, only thing I suggest is to place the picture descriptions right under each picture, it's pretty ridiculous to scroll up and down to match them (I used my dual monitor to fix the issue but others may not have that option).
Edit: looks like the screens are strung together as one image. Some simple editing to split them up would do the trick.

thanks, this is really helpful since TotM is such a bitch to safely FE on

I like how the person is playing in windowed mode . Even the Koreans love chaoslauncher! As a zerg player, this makese wonder why people call Protoss the easy race. Do all of you P's out there seriously memorize placements for 5/6 buildings on all the starting positions of like 15 maps?

It's not hard to do. But, I'm a D+ user... So, I don't really have the right to talk about placements. :x

I have my laptop next to my computer with jpgs of placements on every popular map.

My my, the hardest part about protoss?

well, you also should do this against mech tvz, having correct building placement against vulture runby.
|
Thanks alot for translating. 100% sure I will not remember this ingame tho

Although the effort the person put into finding these building placements is astounding, I still don't think protoss can stop a runby through the back entrance of the natural. The building placement here hinges on the fact that the zerg is attempting to break your natural, instead of breaking your main. Also if zerg is going to all in, they can flank and have a much more effective natural break. Reaction time in pulling probes back to your ramp is crucial. With black sheep wall on in the pictures, it's hard to exactly say when a protoss player will see the lings behind his base.

Well although you got some general rules you still have to remember the best positions, yes. And its goddamn hard for a seasonal player.
Also enough with the Protoss being easy jokes, its not funny anymore.

I'm a former terran player that switched to protoss recently and also played zerg for like 2 months to get an understanding of timings and builds. PvZ wall ins are 10 times more advanced than TvP or ZvT walls. Not only do you need to wall vs speed lings but also have a decent setup for a hydra break and take into consideration that your units need to be able to move out. Because of this there is no "best wall" on many maps and hence we see that pro gamers often times have there own walls.
Terran needs to know the location fo 3 buildings in the early game when they don't need to micro a worker vs 6 lings at the same time as they place these things. Even if you fail walling against zealots and one enters your base you can still retreat marines and bring scvs to fight that zealot. It'll hurt you but you won't die.
Zerg walls with hatchery (which is huge) and sometimes hydra den and / or sunken. This is easy and can be improvisation. Even if the wall is slightly off, you can use drones or hydras to clog up entrances and the sunken(s) will still be able to fight off vultures.
If you try to improv in PvZ and the zerg has a brain and sees your bad wall you _WILL_ die to an all in strat. There is no backup strategy if you failed your wall.
And yeah I agree that zergs need to stop whining about how easy they think protoss is. If you lose to well executed timing attacks or run your units straight into storm all games you just need to practise micro and timing counters. It's not hard to read a protoss when you have overlords in his base and actually know what to look for. Learn builds and practise them instead of whining about imba. If such a thing existed (apart from the obvious fact that some maps favor some matchups) you wouldn't be seeing terrans and zergs in the individual leagues at all.

I'll throw a link into the wall-in thread since it hasn't been done yet, and when i get around to it i'll make some screenshots of my own and put those in that thread.
Thanks Mr. Hoon!
