Ok i tested some things

SCVs have range, just like Mark says.

Shows 9 scv's attacking a defiler under a swarm, 0 damage taken.

Then i tested stack swarm. Didn't work with 2... didn't work with 10.

scvs dont have range...still they dont work in swarm..its as weird as u can both heal and repair a scv -.-V
u tested seiged tankes shooting at hydras under dual swarm malmis ?
plz do if u didnt! im too tired...i thought i tested it like 3 years ago and i thought tanks didnt do any damage at all against units under dual swarm o.o!V

What the hell is dual swarm? :S

IMO it's quite simple. Tank splash damage works under swarm but normal damage does not. When theres more than 1 lurker under swarm splash damage will kill other lurkers and each other. When only 1 lurker is under swarm or far apart from each other, splash attack cant hit the single unit

I shouldve checked out this topic earlier!
amount of swarms make no difference (apart from the fact that with several swarms you really can't select units or see what is beneath them. )

bat/tank works alright against lurkers under swarm actually. the thing about tanks under swarm is that they cannot ever possibly hit _one_ lurker. however, if there are two lurks reasonably close, they can kill one of them with splash. and, bats are very capable of killing 1-2-3 lurkers under swarm. and if there are more than 3 lurkers, then tanks will almost always be capable of splash-killing them.

so at least in theory tank/bat > lurker under swarm. but that requires some impressive micro. (and is only a viable solution to those pesky small groups of lurker/defiler harassing your expansions, it wouldn't work in big battles.

scvs arent ranged in nature...have u ever seen a scv hit standing behind a marine like the probes and drones can do cause they have "1" in range....scvs DONT have range...still they cant hit under swarm...there is no reasonable answer to that...
and yea i guess 2 swarms doesnt make any difference then...

and eri u sure? i dont think tanks shooting 1 lurker burrowed can hit the other burrowed lurker next to it with its splash...im pretty sure all lurks are 100% immune to any tank damage while burrowed under swarm...the only time u can kill the lurker is when its entering the swarm and before it burrows...then u have to unseige and move back no?

they do have to be burrowed like, in a particular way though. like, if the swarm is "above" (on the minimap) of the tank, the tank will hit a lurker burrowed 1 cm "down" of the lurker targeted. but if the other lurker is to the left or right side it will fail, unless the tank is shooting from the right or left side. I think anyway, I didn't test that. but I do know tanks can kill lurkers under swarm, just not every single lurker.

Alternative explanation: Dark Swarm always makes projectile attacks fall slightly short of their intended target. You can use this to your advantage with some smart targetting. If you calculate that there is a Lurker in a certain location, you must gauge where to target such that the tank shell lands on the Lurker. That is, the shell will land about .5 matrices away from the Lurker, and always closer to the Tank. If there is a unit that same distance behind the Lurker, target it and the shell will land on top of the Lurker, dealing full damage.

If u read the hints in StarCraft, even Blizzard says that it's meele So it's full damage.
Btw 1 armor point decreases firebat's dmg by 2 (it fires 2 wave of flame, that's why), just as the zealots' damage.

Newb!

Blizzard says a lot of things. That doesn't mean all their statistics and information are correct! Things change from build to build. It could be true that at one point peons did do damage under swarm, but perhaps Blizzard deemed it too powerful in some way so they removed that ability.

Nobody knows more about the game than two kinds of people: hardcore player-testers and QA testers (and especially both!).
