actually it's useful to get into the custom of using the stop command ALOT with patrol, like before every move :/ ......

I prefer move and attack in the direction of the escape route, allthough not all of them are shooting then as some might be out of range ;o

Well to be honest I mostly use move and attack, too, as it's my standard technique for moving my troops and switching techniques is too much for my tiny brain, especially when I'm stressed. I find it quite difficult to pull off vs speed zealots though, one of the occasions where the faster patrol reaction time makes a real difference i guess....

hold does freeze less but at the same time it also takes a second to attack.. so if you mess up they hit you

I do the same. If one is out of range (and you only have like 4, so one not shooting makes a difference), just make it move towards the other troops individually...

I do attack behind goons (opposite direction the enemy is) and then when you see the goon rdy to shoot.. move him back and repeat.... sometimes some goons will not shoot.... but you can save your goons from freezing a lot more

i can't really imagine that patrol has a faster reaction time... :O
i usually use move + attack in the direction i want my goons to move, or sometimes move + manual attack on the enemy's units (i dont use right click here, but a + select unit as a misclick can really cause things to fuck up once your goons start to move in the direction of the enemies without shooting ^^)

It just comes with experience. Do it 1000 times and you will know exactly how far a goon can shoot.
Same when making a judgement call of reaver harass vs tank !

has i read before, move and attack in the escape direction. When I use hold and the enemy is coming my goons freeze! that sucks :S If u move and attack, any enemy that get closer to them is targeted and no freeze-shit happen

Only if you are slow enough. You can freeze goons with any command sequence , as long as you're typing them fast enough .... Let me guess you are below 150 APM ;-)

I use move+patrol... I guess it has to do what you are used to. However I have my units hotkeyed from 1-X so I guess it's not really the ultimate solution. I might add that I'm mainly a zerg user and thats why I dont bother to change to units 0-X, at least not for now. I dont notice so much freeze as I consider it a problem.

hold pos and move is the only way anyone should try to micro goons, anyway else is useless and too much work
