I know roughly how much progamers make if they are on the A team, but what about the B team members? Do they just live there for free and hope that one day they become good enough to make alot of money or do they make a small salary for making it onto the B team?

Someone should also update how much current Pros make if they can..

Next interview question: "How much money do you make?"

Not to mention that he's mentoring players like Mind and BaBy. Mind's doing really well so I guess you can say that he's a good teacher.

Totally wrong. Last year Free was making 6k... a YEAR.

Players who are not on the A team earn room and board, and MAYBE an allowance. Unless you are making those appearance fees, you aren't getting any significant salary.

Wow, but they are provided with room and board, so it's not like they have rent/living expenses to worry about.

I've always had the idea that the lesser players get 'some hundreds' every month, which is basically an allowance like Mani said.

Remember interview with Oversky? Even with accomodation and food being payed he doesn't earn anything with which he could allow himself some nights out or a holiday. I know that it may be different case because he's in ACE, but I don't think B-players earn anything more in other teams.

Tough life.

Becoming a Pro-Gamer would be 10x harder if the B-level pros had a big salary because of how small amount of players per team they could manage.

Nowadays when a team recruits someone they're mostly taking the person to be made an A-team player, but if he doesn't show results theres no reason for the team to pay him either.. really.

We just have to wait until e-Sports grows and more money enters the business, then we'll see those minor league players with big salaries. Maybe someday. =)

-WeeMee. (2008). Accessible at: http://weemee.com/weemee/issue/2 . Accessed at: 29/18/2008

Note: KRW has depreciated by 37% against USD in last 10 months (when the source states the salaries).

As Free is taking only $6,000 per year (stated on Mymym), than it is obvious that B team members will have minimum wages (I don't know how Korean legal system works, here in GB you can't pay less than minimum hourly wage no matter what contract you are issuing).

It seems to work like Salaries for CEO's and Directors of large corporations. They don't get their money only for the performance, but the salary itself works as a motivator for employees down the company structure. Therefore, the fame and large contracts at teams for the best players makes the B team players to stay even with pityful wages.

There was a thread here on TL about it, I just searched and couldn't find it though. Why would bisu make more when he doesn't perform as well in PL and doesn't still have a long and promising career ahead of him?

2/2008. Thats why I stated the depreciation of KRW in last 10 months. But again, its not a very reliable source. I have never heard of WeeMee before. We need some official Koeran source from recent date. Wee Mee doesnt say where they get it from TT

Well apartments in seoul seem to be cheaper than in Helsinki for example.
Also i heard that its so cheap to eat in a restaurant, they do it like everyday.
I'm not sure how they calculate it.

Of course you can live pretty cheaply anywhere if your standards aren't that high
(small apartment, cheap food, cheap clothes etc)

And you also know that if somthing costed 1$ here it would cost 1000(i think) won there its not like with 1 american dollar you can buy a ipod there or somthing.

Yeah, but it would be foolish to completely leave the e-sports scene. Could still be a commentator or coach or practice partner, or something.

I thought free's income was 16k?. Doesn't make a big difference though, thats beyond nothing. Apparently hes gotten a salary boost since then...and with that uh, whats it called, free agent status that is coming up, the top players incomes will go up accordingly. Probably even people that haven't reached free agent status- make them happy now, so they don't entertain the idea of leaving later.
Can you dig it?
