Note: I saw a thread earlier asking about Pimpest Plays for 2007/2008, but I don't think there's been a thread highlighting the top plays of the year. If this thread is redundant, sorry.
Purpose: Simply put, what are your favorite plays from 2008? Perhaps we can get a good list going and then vote on it in a separate thread. Also, this thread can serve to pinpoint certain plays that you might remember, but not know exactly where they're from.
Perhaps SCLegacy or some aspiring video maker from TL will find this thread useful.
Rules: Not that this is a contest or anything, but certain specifications will help to narrow the list and make any future videos more interesting to watch:
1.) Top plays, not player storylines: Though storylines are an integral part of Starcraft and add importance to certain plays, player storylines don't transfer really well over to video. So let's try to avoid things like "Return of the [Protoss] King (Bisu)", or "Silver Surfer Stork to Gold!".
2.) The shorter, the better: I'm sure through the course of this thread certain epic series will be mentioned. And some series definitely deserve the attention and should be listed as a top play. But to make it easily video-digestible, shorter plays are better.
3.) The play does not have to be unique: With today's high level of play, the ability to create/innovate something new is pretty much exhausted. Don't let the repetition of a play hinder your desire to nominate it as a top play.
4.) Pro Level: It doesn't have to be limited to Korean leagues, but there should be some sort of $$ involved. ^_^
5.) Try to add as much info as possible: Who played, date, what set, what tourney, etc.
**************************************************************************************** My Nominees
With these rules, I'd like to nominate the following plays (ranked by memory, not by greatness):
One of the biggest muta vs muta rapes I've ever seen.
Watch from 6:00 on:
2.) 5 pool G_G July vs Best 1 set, EVER OSL 2008, Finals. 7.12.08
Poor Best.
3.) Science Vessel Rapes Battlecruisers Memory vs. Flash GOM Classic Game 2 [Quarter final Round2 Group B]
BC vs BC, Memory's EMP hits all of Flash's BC's and Vessels. Memory proceeds to yamato gun Flash to death.
4.) Kal's Hero Scout Kal vs. fOrGG [19 June, 2008] 1set @ Arena MSL 2008 It's really an epic series all around but that Scout from nowhere saves the day for Kal.
5.) Luxury's Reach Around. Luxury vs Best [27 June, 2008] 1set @ EVER OSL 2008
Luxury counters Best's proxy gates.
This list is by no means definitive and is just to get the ball rolling. I'm sure people will think up way better stuff.

July's drone drill on Troy is clearly better than his 5 pool. 5 pool was great and really smart but the drone drill was 'pimp.'
Free vs Bisu on Byzantium 2. probes blocking dt for 20 seconds
Fantasy vs GGplay on Medusa and Autumn Wind. The TvZ revolution.
Flash vs Jaedong on Katrina. Unstoppable mech.
Flash vs Stork on Katrina, game 4. The Flash build. Katrina is 24-4 PvT without considering Flash. This build was a key part of Flash's 5-0 on it during his dominant phase.
Zero vs oov on RA 2 hidden expo at 7.
Macro plays don't make up PP before but it's time that they do since micro PP is rarely anything new.
In the first video of OP how do you get the mutas to stop and shoot so fast like they do.. I'll try to remember to check this thread for answer but if someone could PM that would be appreciated, thanks!
FBH's supply block against Bisu's proxy on Chupeong (i think)
Some of the VODS you listed up there i dont quite agree with (i.e The ZvZ, the 5-pool) but thats just me. Nada vs. Frozean, where nada breaks the tank line with gols + scvs was pimpp.
The other ones that i thought of were already mentioned so =). Kal's scouts were awesome though.

Savior vs TT? on new requiem is something that's missing here. That one was really intense. The one with the pylon, reaver, lots, and a handful of zerglings.

i cant remember the game ow it was flash vs another terran flash went a 14 cc, the terran scouts it and send his force, flash is pretty much dead but his 2 vultures mine placement own"OWN" the other guy and flash wins ,thats awesome
Can someone find this game for me? It was either GOM or PL; Jaedong vs a toss on Katrina, where Jaedong denies the toss's third like 4-5 times with just mutas (sick control, sniping the nexus, pylons powering cannons and even fucking ARCHONS). That was pimp.
Also...Luxury vs Stork in PL last season, as well as Jaedong vs Bisu. Both on Andromeda. Both showed the world how to fuck zerg up the pooper with sair/reaver.

That's probably the semi final in first season GOM Intel Classic. Jaedong showing some of the best ZvP play Ive ever seen against YoonJoong.
Might have been against Much and Chalrenge - both PL matches too. I remember the game against Much, where Much didnt leave until he was practically eliminated The Chalrenge game was rape too IIRC.

The Half Final of Gomtv1 was Jaedong vs Lomo?
No that was the quarter final.
I think he was nominating that game, not saying it was a ZvP.

Jaedong vs Lomo on Katrina game 3 Noone will ever surpass that level of play, that was just plain godlike. I doubt even jaedong can surpass the way he played in that game. No words can describe it. If you didnt watch the game do so now.

Flash's Eraser Your nat, back on the unbalanced Blue Storm 1.1, has been destroyed and there are guardians hammering your main as your zerg opponent mass-expands.How do you deal with the guardians? + Show Spoiler [the answer] +
There is a DT in your main. You have no observers, and your cannon is still about 30 seconds from warping in. Is there any way of surviving other than a pimp play? + Show Spoiler [Bisu vs free on Byzantium 2] +
firebathero's proxy block (If anyone can think of a better name for this one, let me know)
Stork's carrier protection (this name sucks, let me know if there's a better one)
Honestly, a lot of this game, especially Stork's strategy(proxy 2base carrier rush) is worth a mention, but this little piece of the ending had to be the best. Despite destroying Stork's main with dropships, Stork had destroyed forgg's main as well, so he tried a desperate switch to wraiths, managed to scan and kill the observers, only to be met with... + Show Spoiler [fOrGG vs Stork on Troy] +
Rage's Defense (This one is borderline at best, but whatever)
In a game somewhat reminiscent of the infamous game between firebathero and Savior on Python, GoRush destroys Rage's main with waves of ultraling drops, only for Rage to move to a brand-new base. Despite losing in the end, he holds off Gorush's attacking waves for an impressively long time. At one point, despite this being on Colosseum 1(meaning there are 16 total bases), Rage and his 3 bases appear to be on the verge on starving out gorush and the rest of the map. Rage ends up using every unit(except arbiters, carriers, and scouts) and every non-arbiter spell, while gorush uses literally every possible unit and spell.
Highlights include:
Gorush spotting a group of observers, ensnaring them, and killing them with a group of hydralisks, only to find out that they're hallucinations Rage using a mind-controlled overlord to mind-control a burrowed lurker, and then using that lurker to kill another burrowed lurker Said overlord picking up a parasite later that overlord finally getting ensnared and getting killed by hydralisks Spawn Broodling Feedback Hallucination

wasnt there some conspiracy theory about this
Yes, there were quite a few people arguing adamantly that Lomo threw the game for Jaedong. Or at least, a loud minority.
Amazing game though, no doubt. Jaedong was literally everywhere.

Yeah, but it was proved convincingly that it wasn't thrown. I know people are going to say how Jaedong wasn't godlike in that game, but even IF he wasn't that game was the best TvZ I've seen and deserves to be in the Top Plays of 2008.
Some zerg in gsl I think going proxy hatchery on andromeda vs flash, and then get a nydus up in flash's base that was really cool, he ended up losing it though, such a shame.
Other one was hyvaa I think going queen/ultra against flash on andromeda, lost due to bad scourge micro and late defilers but the queens worked so well.

I think the zerg was Juni, even though it was pimp the strategy failed and flash countered amazingly.

great great game. IMO, it's not deserving of a pp. Why? Pimpest plays usually refers to micro tricks or moments that lead to you having a decided advantage in the game. Jaedong was amazing in the second half of the game with his hive tech, but there wasn't a moment that was amazing.

A montage of sunken break+all the amazing scenes where there were like 3 fights going on @ the same time + nydus going up in time?
I have to say this is the pimpest play or hardest to execute of any.
I love bisu vs jaedong, in fact I think bisu vs jaedong on blue and andro are the highest level of that matchup ever being played. Bisu is just too good.
4.) Kal's Hero Scout Kal vs. fOrGG [19 June, 2008] 1set @ Arena MSL 2008 It's really an epic series all around but that Scout from nowhere saves the day for Kal.
Xellos vs Tempest Game 3 from GomTV Intel-Averatec Classic Season 2 RO64
Tempest is harassing Xellos with dark templars in his base on Neo Requiem and tries to go in and snipe some scvs it dies but finds a couple mines that are close to the scvs. The next dark templar goes on a suicide mission to drag a mine into the scv line. Xellos then proceeds to snipe the mine so that it dies only a couple frames away from exploding. This is particularly impressive if you watch it closely as the vultures were moving away from the mine when it popped up so he had to react very quickly. It was Gom so I only have this video to post

Haha, when I first read Rage's defense, the first thing I thought of was sc2gg vs tl net where Rage got offensive gg'ed, then responded by making a proxy fac and actually won the game. I think that deserves a pp
It was a ZvT a few months ago where the zerg controlled 2-3 groups of mutas at once, similar to what Jaedong did vs. Upmagic. He basically made 2 groups of stacked mutas attack as if is was just 1 group. It was kinda a 1 sided game, but really epic control.
It wasn't any big name zerg like Jaedong, July, Luxury, and im not sure which map is was. I thought it might have been ROTK, Byzantium, or Othello but i couldn't find the game on TLPD.
EDIT: found it
ZerO vs. Leta on Othello
He controls 2-3 groups of mutas as if they were 1.

Well okay I'll stop joking with flash's failure and contribute
Flash vs Fantasy, fantasy plants a mine in front of Flash's tank and flash forces his vulture on top of the mine, bugging the mine out until he had enough time to get fantasy's mine out of the way
Much vs Luxury, proleague game, much and his AMAZING DEFENSE. Best Probe Line I have ever seen.
Unpimpest Play Free vs Flash, 1 Pylon and 7 stargates. Flash vs free 7:1 lol.
