I'd say its a 15 year old kid getting cocky in a game he almost lost to his own mistakes.

I thought it was a mistake when I watched it, but it obviously could of been a bm. Yeah bring your men in, see what happens magma.

Though magma did impress me in that game, gotta say.

I would imagine it's implied by the [Fin] prefix?

EDIT : Apparently not. Damned misleading prefix, that is.

Definitely on purpose. A pro-gamer D-matrix-ing one is unheard of. Two in quick succession is clearly intentional. He did it because he knew he was winning, got bored, had spare APM and wanted to show off a little. Nothing that bm imo. Not every day you get to see it :D

No mistake, just being cocky.
Same thing with Bisu vs. Hwasin where he built a few scouts just to humiliate him, when the game was already decided.

I was actually a bit shocked when I saw this move since it gave magma some momentum back to pressure flash which he did for quite some time at 6 o' clock. Flash surely knew he had a winning advantage but taking such risk in an important game is just badass no matter how confident you are. Mad props!

Is it just me or is this sort of thing getting more common? Go.go has being doing it rather a lot (sending firebats vs firebathero when he'd already won, or building a command center inside the base of some protoss after successfully rushing), and now Flash with this defensive matrix...

I guess I subscribe to the view that nothing you do within the game is really BM, because if you're in a position to be dicking around and they can't stop you, it's because they've already lost anyway. That said I personally don't do stuff like that, I just try to finish them off as efficiently as possible...

EDIT: not that FBH didn't deserve some firebat ownage.
May the BeSt man win.

FBH sent all his scvs against some other TvT when he knew he won. But what flash did is sorta bm and cocky, I hope he loses to the next zerg and the zerg does some pointless spell on his units (if there is a pointless spell) and I'm not a flash hater, just makes me mad.

I think he's impoved a LOT since last season tho. He's been quite unlucky this season to play vs players like Flash and Jaedong but played well nevertheless. :p

Maybe he meant to irradiate instead of d.matrix? Thats the only reason I could see for doing it to both (its actually pretty likely, aside from a progamer pressing the wrong hotkey).

Ensnare + workers would work pretty well.

Or some mass Broodlings.

In any case, I kind of enjoy it when I see players do stuff like this. It's obviously not necessary, but that's pretty much the point; it's a bit of flair, a bit of cockiness, attitude that won't be liked by all, but that doesn't matter - you're winning and you know it. I like that sort of sure-fire confidence in players. (though I still cheer for Midas, go figure)
Think. :)

Pff. I think it's fine.

BTW Magma's been 'up and coming' since '06, I don't think that counts anymore.

UpMagic plays a lot, but loses a lot. he's sub 50% in every matchup.

Those scouts were really a tech choice. The game hadn't already been decided, but it was definitely Bisu showing Hwsain that he could beat him with any unit.

eStro is quite bad, to be honest. Sangho's cool though.

eStro would be a decent team if they would at least win 50% of their ace matches.

They have this nasty habit of going 2-3 a lot of the time.

90% of the time its cause of their 2v2 pulls off and either Up/Tester/Cool/Magma pulled a win out of their ass.

And then comes the ace match where they end up failing hard..so sad.

Y'know on a random thought, I wonder why shitty 1v1 players do so well in 2v2. It doesn't make sense to me..top 1v1 players have stronger mechanics and game insight, having top players play as one mighty force almost never works out..wtf.

I think Sangho would be a great player if he learned how to play late game better and had better nerves.
He can certainly play with the best of them, but he knows how to drag but never to finish.

The third prize was awarded to the gamer who best represented the traits of their race. That person would be given an original, one-of-a-kind FakeSteve MS Paint portrait of their greatness. The game began normally, 6P vs 9T on Zodiac. FakeSteve got his scout into the protoss base and had a peak around.

Nothing seemed to be amiss, so he started his expansion and sent out his troops to see what he could do.

Meanwhile, in a remote corner of the map, proxy tech went up and so did chances of victory.

Not only was templar tech coming, but it would be airborne. A classic build, popularized by the late, great Fayth.

But what is this? A probe so brazen to invade the terran base?

Back at the protoss base, it was an intense struggle as terran troops stormed the ramp. However, the invisible ninjas appeared just in time.

With his concentration diverted, FakeSteve flashed back to his base, only to find a blue hue over his ramp. His troops had been cut off from home.

With the benefit of the shuttle, Jumper]i[ lifted his templars into the Terran main to commence their slaughter.

Despite his best efforts, Steve was unable to get his turrets up in time, and his troops paid the ultimate price.

To add insult to injury, the sole remaining Terran production facility was reduced to a pylon prison.

Which led to a gg.

Teamwork, I would assume. If you are dominant you usually have a large ego. Use to going your own way, relying on yourself- etc.

I thought Flash did it as a way of saying "It's time to type gg and leave". You know, kind of like when you infest their burning main CC, or when Bisu came out with scouts vs Hwasin.

Yeah even the commentators were saying something similiar. Like he dmatrixed to tell magma drop all you want you're still gonna lose.
Flash is a pretty strong player mentally. Look at the osl finals with stork.

I don't get why people are so mad about this stuff. Basically if the winning player can dick around that much without risk of losing, then the other player should GG already instead of prolonging their death. I would call it even more BM to make your opponent destroy all your buildings before you'll leave the game when you've clearly lost already. If Magma were still in the game, then Flash doing stuff like that might be shooting himself in the foot.

I still think it's possible he meant to irradiate them. When you've spent the last 20-30 minutes going all out 300 apm, I don't think it's unreasonable to think he may have pressed d (or whatever the d-matrix key is) instead of i.

I agree Flash made a mistake.
Its just fucking 2 overlords, Jesus himself wont do damage of whats inside against Flash.
Its Magma, who gives a shit?
Also agree on the losing player not giving up. That night KTF achieve their 1v1 victories by cornering rats at the end. IMO when you know you are fucked you GG like Jaedong (vs Hwasin).

Uhm, progamers don't misclick hotkeys like that. Not twice. And they don't irradiate overlords. Just like how go.go didn't just mix up his opponent's nat with his own when he built his cc there.

Guys, I think I have to clarify an issue here: progamers do not give up until they lost their final chance to survive and win.
Comebacks happen this way. + Show Spoiler +
Like Pusan vs FBH on Longinus long ago, Pusan was 1 expo down and won the game with lots of superior control and endless streams of luck plus a few wrong decisions by FBH. Or Lucifer vs Sheis exactly the same thing, I forgot the map name.

Do not complain about it like that, saying this or that progamer should leave and it's bm to stay in the game any longer. Just don't, please.

There are dickheads in every sport.

If you already won the game and your opponent is refusing to give up you can fool around a little bit imho. Bisus scouts were more humilitating compared to something small like D-Matrix overlords or dancing around with your units or something similar after the game is already decided.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH SOME OF YOU PEOPLE?

There is a clear line between being entertaining and acting like a complete dick. Flash was being cocky and stupid, and that thing should never be repeated again, for these reasons:

- Magma played really well vs the no.1 player. After such a long, intense and beautiful game, he deserved some respect, not getting humiliated like that. Imagine yourself playing a 1 hour sweating game and at the end of the game your opponent, who has just managed to closely win the game, do something like that as if he has owned you the entire game.

- Very amazing comebacks do happen in Starcraft. Fans should not forget that, and Flash himself shouldn't too. Flash should also be aware that just like every previous dominant player, his prime won't last forever and he better appreciate it.

- Doing this when the game was not over might affect your opponent mentality in a unfair way. I'm not saying that Flash intentionally did that to piss Magma off so he lost temper, but it might have very likely turned out that way. Such things would make professional SC matches look like B.Net public games.

- And yes, sportsmanship matters. What if the Koreans do humiliating shit like that to every foreigners in WCG Grand Finals 'cos they are all newb to them and games are over before they are even played, so instead of playing straightup, why don't do something fun and humiliating? Will that still be entertaining or 'badass' anymore?

Never seen how fighters behave? Would you call them laughing and grinning during the fight bad behaviour? Hell no, this is part of the fight and it's entertaining. If a fighter can't live with it he's just too weak in his heart. It's that simple, if you can't stand being laughed at you also can't stand the pressure of progaming.

I actually don't see how a competitor could break down mentally from experiencing this. If you are a true competitor, this is perfect bulletin material for motivation. I remember a year ago, Savior just handed flash his first or one of his first televised lost in a pwnage. Then he went on interview just like two days afterwards and said he hasn't faced a terran in a long time. Did flash break down? Nope, he got stronger. Did Hwasin break down after being "scouted"? Nope, he got stronger.

Well obviously we appreciate what they do, but if a dmatrix on an overlord to embarass you makes you break down, then sorry but you need more balls. All I'm saying is don't get too defensive and act like Flash did something HORRIBLE and should be hated for it.

Kid is 15 years old, holds a starleague title, is the force of a progaming team, broke a protoss map, has balls probably as huge as mellons and owns everyone left and right.

Now what did magma do? He won against boxer, nada, reach and nal_ra. I'm shure there are tons of korean girls crying over two d-matrixed overlords

What fighters? I don't see that in any Olympics fighting sports, and sorry I don't call American wrestling and others of that sort 'sports".

While I agree that pressure and sometimes humiliation is something a successful progamer must be able to cope with, that's not a right excuse for being a dick to your opponent.

I guess I subscribe to the view that nothing you do within the game is really BM, because if you're in a position to be dicking around and they can't stop you, it's because they've already lost anyway. That said I personally don't do stuff like that, I just try to finish them off as efficiently as possible...

I think you can be as ridiculous as you want in-game, and even in the ceremonies, as long as outside the match you and the your opponent are cool with each other. Showmanship is a part of the game, and usually doesn't have much to do with actually winning. Your coach will get mad at you, but it's also a good way to build hype around yourself, which makes you a more profitable investment for sponsors, so the coach isn't gonna cry too much. That's why, even though it's obvious SaviOr isn't exactly cool with FireBatHero (storming off the stage after losing, knowing what's coming from FBH), it brings in a lot of money and attention because of how infamous FBH is for it. People will talk about it, and a lot of people will go to games JUST to see FBH do that. I know it's the only reason I watched the latest FBH match (and SaviOr benefits just a little too, from the notoriety of their rivalry, everyone will go nuts if SaviOr finals takes him down).

In short: It's good for the game in terms of financial success to be silly, and infamous. It's probably bad if the players would refuse to shake each other's hands outside the arena (ie: people will start feeling like they're just watching a bunch of immature kids, instead of lovably ridiculous antics).

If you want SC to keep surviving as a professional sport, you need this drama.

Some of you guys are acting ridiculous. Pro Starcraft players are not GODS. They are pretty cool, but they are not gods.

I have a rebuttal to your point: Lim Yo Hwan.
Force staff is the best item in the game.
