I take responsibility for being against rapid if it means taking away an audience that can be manipulated by him. As for the false accusations it was probably the same incident but with an understanding it could be blackmail, not that it was. The speculation was they were saying it to be a part of the #metoo when the Harvey Weinstein event was playing out, but there was zero pushback from rapid which I would have loved to hear. Instead radio silence and a quiet return.

Darth Rapid was a caster of starcraft so sex-oriented and so hung that he could influence a conversation to create opportunities to send dick pics. He had a such knowledge of his genitals, that he could even send pictures of if to many people at the same time.
The dark side of the internet is a gateway to many opportunities some would consider to be unnatural.
He became so prolific, the only thing he was afraid of... was losing his right to send people pictures of his dick. Which eventually of course he did.

Sounds like maybe ZZZero didn't know (I think he should still make a statement to clarify this) and Rus_Brain just decided he wanted Rapid there. I think we should get clarity on that before hitting BSL or ZZZero.
But we have multiple testimonies of misconduct by Rapid so he clearly did some fucked up shit lol. Believing evidence isn't cancel culture.

it's obviously embarassing and unacceptable that he is on BSL, assuming, ofc, all of the reported is true, which i believe it is.
i couldn't be more thankful for having these kind of events as i love Brood War, but letting him in was a serious mistake.
in any case, thank you to the organizers of this event, let's instead celebrate the 25 years of Starcraft!

Sorry, I meant didn't know Rapid was going to cast. I'm not sure who made that decision and if ZZZero had final signoff or anything like that. Definitely if he was fully aware of everything that's not good though.

I only know of Rapid as the former substitute ASL caster but idk enough about the facts to really weigh in
but regardless I think it's clear that it was/is extremely naive for the organizers to think you could have Rapid reappear and cast without it being a huge distraction. If the overarching goal was for this to be a great celebration of Starcraft, not sure Rapid's participation is worth this distraction.
For the sake of argument, even if the organizers did genuinely believe Rapid deserved to return, wouldn't now be literally the worst possible timing for it, why not choose a more low-key event?

Not to say Radley doesn't have merit to his thoughts on this situation in the right context. Which that context would be that this is the first time this has occured. I respect that Radley wants to give rapid another opportunity but I just don't see any way of moving forward without an acknowledgement of his past.
Also take into account that this was 3 years ago so it's not just common knowledge which is why this thread is important in setting the context.

i really don't get this.
like legitimately *before* any of this came out 3 years ago i used to turn off the videos of this guy commentating. he gets basic factual stuff about the game wrong. he misses stuff that's on the screen in front of him, let alone the minimap. he is constantly comparing everything to starcraft 2 which is simply a different game. he doesn't understand basic strategy. he's not aware of builds that have been commonplace for 20+ years. he interrupts other commentators. he's not funny. he's not exciting. he's not interesting. he used to audibly be really fucking weird toward cadenzie when they co-commentated some tournaments (to be clear i dont know how she felt about it just saying how it sounded to me). i used to hear him and think "he must be a really good guy or something for them to keep bringing him back". and then all this shit came out. and i just really don't fucking get it.
i don't think his skill as a commentator really SHOULD matter, like, even if he was a good commentator, this wouldn't be excusable.
but this is just downright fucking confusing. like what's the upsides of having this guy on commentary? like even if you legitimately believe that 3 separate scenes worth of accusations are fake (they're not), why put him back on commentary?
do you really think he's a good commentator? what does he add? there are other better commentators *at the event right now*.

There’s been plenty of casting talent who’ve busted their balls across both StarCrafts and never got past the ceiling of more established casters taking the vast majority of good gigs. So do you really need to go to someone who hasn’t been active for 3 years and was never really a BW specialist? Even ignoring the reasons for the absence.
Casting is a skill certainly, having done locals for years in a proudly unprofessional scene, so I know you can’t just throw anyone in there but hell there’s probably a fair few TL vets who could do a job if there weren’t sufficient specialist casters

I generally think people should be given second chances, but it also doesn't sit right with me that a guy who's done these terrible things just appears out of nowhere again and expects everyone to have forgotten what he did without any further apology

He had his second chance, he was banned from the League community and came here. We were his second chance. He used his place here to just do the same shit again which is why a lot of people here are as angry as they are.
