I wasn't going to get involved with this, but given the fact someone is trying to defend him in here I feel I need to say something. Rapid at one point was a person I thought of as a close friend, it turned out however he was a sexual predator who had betrayed mine and everyone elses trust. He was expelled from the League community for his behaviour which goes way further than what Comedy is trying to portray above.
He continued to do the same horrific behaviour in our community and when everything came out and he disappeared into a hole I was relieved as it meant he was finally unable to harm anyone else using his small amounts of clout he'd gained from worming his way into our community.
I cannot support a tournament that is supporting a known sexual predator. I genuinely feel disgusted to learn he's casting this and while I wish all the players luck I'm incredibly dissapointed with whoever was involved in giving him a platform again.

Obviously what he did was wrong but is there no mercy in this community? Its been a bit, give the guy a chance. If a small community condemns everyone who has done something in their life, that community will cease to exist very soon. Its obvious he regrets the fuckup he did, but so do we all, we've all done things that are wrong, everyone of us is a human. Show him some mercy. On the other hand I think he should publicly apologize but in the end, I don't care that much. Just be happy that we have a tournament and casters!

I hate to use religious terms as you know as well as I am that I'm not religious in any way, but isn't that literally what hell is for in Christianity? People can repent for their sins, but it doesn't mean they should or will be forgiven. He's not even attempted to repent for anything, he's just hid himself in a hole for 3 years hoping it'd all blow over and he could come back like he has here. He sent pictures of his dick to people who are considered minors, that's more than enough to get you on the sex offenders register in most countries.
If he wants to he could go work somewhere else, why is he choosing to come back here.

How are these religious terms? Judges judge in court every day. People judge and condemn others based on their actions every day. Obviously he regrets what he has done, if he didn't he wouldn't have dug himself in a hole for 3 years. And as I said earlier I think its very scummy to not do a public apology but in no way shape or form should that lock him out of a 2nd chance.

I think an apology would have been nice and mature thing to do. Still waiting 3 years in...
I'm not convinced there's literally not a single other person who can point out what's happening on the screen (maybe not with as much hype but certainly with more game knowledge).
I've watched Korean tournaments without English commentary and it was just fine. I watch replays without English commentary also fine.
I think we can do better and we should do better as a community and he can do better personally too.

I have seen a man who, having received funds, failed in job of financial management, yet paradoxically, now champion the cause of accountability for others. Remarkably, he sit comfortably in his chair, his presence known only online.
When given the chance to support a good cause, another individual I've encountered would rather have collected a lottery windfall for himself than contribute to a worthy charity. He resides in his virtual domain much like the first one.
A different character caught my attention, is trying very hard to keep his anger ringfenced until such an anger becomes publicly acceptable, at least in this one topic of discussion. So too he does stay sitting, limiting his activities to the virtual world.
I have noticed another one who managed to curse his patron following return to the online domain, after receiving a substantial sum of money to fund his lifelong ambition, and after having an opportunity to resolve his issues face-to-face in person.
Yet, there is more to this tale. I've encountered a person who committed an action so dumbfuck that one might deem it the epitome of folly. Lord have mercy on him; he refrained from blatantly criminal actions. But he did expend both his time and resources to attend this once per quarter century offline gathering. Interestingly, not a single soul objected to this person's appearance or questioned the event's organizers in real life.
The dramatic shift in last one's professional trajectory, however, is arguably the most surprising turn of events. A person who, looking at the big picture, went from making money to making amusement for a tiny collective. He also committed his own time and money to attend an offline meeting. But instead of praise, he was attacked and threatened with having support revoked. These actions stemmed from his unintentional handing off of some tasks during the group stages so that he may take part in the tournament as a participant. Note, that he remained steadfast in his commitment to deliver online content to the audience, even though the notion of an online broadcast had never been part of other organizers' initial plan.
Perhaps I'm just a traditionalist who struggles to zoom out and differentiate between all these situations mentioned above, contemplating the intricacies of human behavior, valuing in-person interactions as significant and downplaying the importance of virtual ones. Naturally, I just can't grasp an obvious thing, that the event organizers "should have" worked extra shifts for a few months to save up enough money to hire a web commentator that the bestowed online elite would have enjoyed listening to.

We would not even need to have this discussion if the issue was properly resolved back in the day or prior this tournament.
BSL as an entity has the right to hire anyone they want. Just not a good look as far as I'm concerned.
I expected better.

ok someone DM'd me and revealed to me that he did a similar thing in league community before BW/SC2, this I didn't know. I take back all I said, he had his 2nd chance and did the same thing, fuck him.

Brain I paid out the money for STPL Season 5 and as I explained to you in the past I completely forgot that our agreement at the time was for me to host a Season 6 as well - which I seem to remember you saying was ok as per our usual agreement the esports.fund only added the money to Matcherino for the season as it was happening. We wanted rapid to own up to his past, take responsibility for his actions, and make a promise to do better. He instead decided to ignore the allegations and disappear for 3 years until without any prior engagements was let into one of the biggest lan events for Brood War. I wouldn't want this man anywhere near this scene if he is just going to do the exact same thing again. I don't care how good his casting is if he's just going to continue to pull the same sexual predator behavior without consequences.
Zzzero I will not in good conscience recommend any players to participate in anymore BSL events, nor recommend donating until Rapid is fully removed from BSL.
