I don't want to be rude but these arent really relevant examples. The tier system is based on tournament play. I'm sure hes a good player, however hand picking a few examples of him doing very well against mediocre korean players(at this point - Midas is a legend ) is far from proof that hes as good as them. Im assuming he has quite a few loses against players of this level as well, but you're not linking those games

Just got through the JoeKim confession... I knew Game was scum but holy shit thats off the charts

I’m glad to know the Chinese community is just as delusional as the rest of the foreign scene.

You are too humble! But even tier 69 is way above peasants like us....

To be fair the Chinese community exposed us so hard with F91 vs. Idra that I believe they still have the upper hand to this day. We may all be clowns to Korea but China is closer.

its of my personal opinion that americans are a bit stronger than koreans, korean mmr is kind of easy to come by, also americans match koreans more often than people in korea match koreans (i got this from a reliable source).

Correct. Pj vs Savior: 2-1 in wcg 2007. I havent had much contact with the chinese as of late, but when i did in 2016ish, my impression was also that china was a bit ahead of us.
Chinese players defeated korean pros more than once in the c-osl's. Progamers had to offrace each 2nd, 4th and 6th game of a match tho. Still some huge upsets.

China has a dedicated StarCraft community. Maybe not as big as 10, 15 years ago, but it is hardcore as ever. Due to language barrier, time difference, Chinese community is not well connected with the west. But you do see many interactions between Chinese and Korean StarCraft communities. The two countries are very close to each other, after all.
For example, did you know the 2019 ASIA-PACIFIC STAR KING MASTERS? It was a tournament between top Chinese players selected via online qualifiers and invited Korean pros (Flash, Bisu, Stork, and Zero). (I don't want to spoil it, but the finals are between Koreans ^^) As the organizer put it, the purposes of such tournament are: (1) Celebrate StarCraft with beautiful game-plays, and (2) Show the skill gap between Korean and Chinese players and motivate the Chinese players to reach new highs.
Unfortunately, the event is entirely in Chinese; Actually some of the interviews were pretty funny (for example, Flash was asked about his experience visiting his girlfriend's parents, Bisu was asked about why he was still single ...). I recognized some faces sitting in the audience. People are getting older, most of them with kids now, but the love for StarCraft hasn't changed a bit. StarCraft is arguably the first competitive game that was popular in China nationwide. The passion is pure, even till this day.

Perhaps, in retrospect, the real question is how big of a betting underdog PJ was against Saviour at that WCG?
