In the end, the vanilla version of BW is likely of very little importance to Blizzard. I mean, this is kind of a matter of fact rather than up for interpretation. When else have we ever seen Blizzard shove stuff out the door in a giant mess? Bug here, gamebreaking bug there is normal for Blizzard, but this is like an alpha version. Either they don't have a QA team (unlikely) or this is an intentionally aggressive method of meeting their more important deadline. | ||

Out of pure egoism (wanting to play the game like im used to) im gonna stick to 1.16 until 1.18 has more to offer. Which includes ladder for me and tournaments on the server. | ||

They most likely don't have a QA team for this project, as can be seen by the state of the first PTR. They could also have a terrible one. Regardless, remastered success lies very close to vanilla, so releasing a mess of a patch is not a good idea. At this point, I'm relatively certain this was some dumb manager or an idiot executive saying "we have a deadline to meet, I don't care how broken it is, just release it". The patch is literally unplayable for pro players. I suspect that they have a schedule leading up to the release of SC:R in the summer and the patch may have already been "late". Therefore they just shoved it through so they could stick to the deadlines instead of adjusting the deadlines. It really is unfortunate, but at least we still have 1.16 to play on, while Blizz fixes its trainwreck of a patch. | ||

Blizzard has done QA for a long time and if the team is already large, I doubt the QA team is small or nonexistent. When you consider how much BW has been on Blizzard's radar the past 5 years, it makes sense that they would be brazen with their patching for the sake of the holy grail: BW remastered. The people Blizzard are trying to reach with BW remastered are not likely to give 2 shits about playing classic BW. I played BW on ICCUP years ago, but I don't give 2 shits about classic BW when remastered is right around the corner. I don't see any reason to waste time with 1.18 classic when 1.16 is solid and 1.18 remastered is on the horizon. There is going to be very little reason to ever play classic BW once remastered is in full gear. This is a step towards something greater. | ||
