Current hotkey setup: 5 -> main CC 6 -> main factory (other factories around it to start production) 8 9 0 => radar 1 2 => tanks 3 4 => vultures F2 => main F3 => natural | ||

f2 gives you your main and you rarely need to highlight your actual cc later in the game. f4 for your 3rd expo usually. some people use it for their production screen so its a bit of preference. others use it to set their rally for a bit before switching back. the rest is whatever feels comfortable. get used to using your mouse a lot though. most pros actually manually (boxing/shift/ctrl) select units or use the minimap to click on locations a lot because your hotkeys will always require changing during the game (units dying, needing to change base locations, switching to different units etc). | ||

If you're still on only 4 factories for example you can just go 4t5t6v7v to reproduce tanks + vults). If you can't get rid of 6 for factories any more, maybe try using 7 for another group of vultures/reinforcements/something. You hardly ever need more than 1-5 for a full lategame-army though. Learning to use F-keys flexibly should be very beneficial - but it's one of the hardest things in terms of mechanics imo. I find myself all confused whenever I don't set F4 to where my rally-point is. And like evil wrote, oftentimes it's better to break up the stiff "this unit type goes on this number"-rule in the lategame. Like the guy said, even pros just box packs of 12 units in the lategame and put them on some hotkey to be able to send them out asap, and do the necessary selecting to micro (siegeing, mining, EMP) on the fly at the place of the battle. edit: should've asked this in the "Simple Questions, Simple Answers"-Thread probably. | ||
