EDIT: SC2 Protoss and Terran Unit VOs now included
Do you want the SC2 Protoss/Terran Unit Voiceovers in your SC1 VOs?Wonder how I did this?Well, there isn’t any mpq editing done on the sound.I just downloaded SC2 Unit Voiceovers which is usually very hard to find.SC1 VOs format is WAV and the SC2 format is OGG vorbis file, OGG for short.I converted all those OGG into WAV using Winamp which will only take less than a minute. SC1 sound filenames are different from from SC2 filenames and so I renamed all the VOS corresponding the SC1 sound filenames. Im actually the guy who posted this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=380788 Im a Protoss Player and so I gave Protoss VOs the priority. The list of Protoss VOs are as follows placed in a folder. These folders shouldn’t be renamed because the vos will not work. I mess up my Zerg VOs as I made it for personal use (modified sounds to my own dialect).
Advisor Arbiter Archon Artanis Bldg -- building structure sound Carrier Corsair Dark Templar Dragoon - swapped with Immortal Fenix Intercep - interceptor sound Probe Scout Shuttle --- the sound while constructing a pylon and the sounds of Observer. Templar Trilobyte ----- the Reaver sound, swapped to Colossus Witness -observer Zealot <--- somewhat annoying when they attack Zeratul If you want to try this, you can download it HERE If you want to delete a quotation of a certain unit, just delete the folder of that unit. If you want to edit/replace the voiceover/ voiceovers of unit/units say a custom one, delete that specified wav file and rename the file correspondingly. A complete list of speech to text to filenames can be found at http://dr.barik.net/kb/StarCraft_Sounds Extract the file and paste it into your SC folder. If you want to revert back just delete the sound folder from the SC folder.

Hm, of the top of my head I would like to see the reverse, but cool idea nevertheless

I would love to have it once I have SC2 too. This is the reverse. But I am not a modding pro and what I've done is the product of my experiment ( got bored with the sound and i did a reverse). It maybe hard to do that in SC2, the fact that sc2 VOs are on OGG format and the filenames are longer compared to the ***RdY,* **YesXX and ***WhtXX filenaming of sc1.Yes, you can convert the wav format of sc1 to OGG format using Winamp. Manually you can rename and should correspond the filenames to sc2. But I guess issues will come when Blizzard detects the changes, specially on the size of the converted format. If only SC2 has offline version /LAN and you have the passion to bring back BW atmosphere even if it's only sounds is POSSIBLE.

Why would you want to replace BW sounds with SC2? Korean SC2 Protoss sounds are not bad, but BW audio is still so much better. I will not use this, but it is nice to have that choice. Appreciate it!

Well to the people who don't understand why someone would do this, I think it is great initiative for SC2 players coming to BW, especially because of the T L S, it will give them a sense of feeling a little more comfortable, in the extremely challenging world that we call Brood War.

Friendly reminder that this isn't an acceptable venue to discuss the relative merits of the games. Because I see it heading that way.

Even doing VO for protoss is easy !

As I've said Do you want the SC2 Protoss Unit Voiceovers in your SC1 Protoss VOs?.It's just a matter of preference.I didn't ask opinions about two different games.

aaf.Cat once used SC2 VOs in his BW stream. I got amazed. I pmed him but got no reply. Scan ( the ex-skt1 progamer) gave me a file which I thought korean sc2 vos but i discovered yesterday that he only gave me japanese soundpacks. LOL, I feel like I was cheated. And so I made my own.

Nice one, Release. ;D Lest we forget! Just for your knowledge, elmerpogs, there is actually a mod for achieving the reverse, so if you play SC2 at some point, ou will be able to have BW sounds for your units. I haven't paid a lot of attention to that thread, but plenty of work was certainly put into it.

I don't play SC2 and I don't have a copy of the game.I love BW and it is the only game I know.I manually renamed the converted wav . I do have sc2 Terran and sc2 Zerg Vos but not yet completed and maybe for personal use only.
