Beside the MLG and DreamHack tournaments by foreigners, SC2 really have no other stage tournament. Most of the 'esport exposure' is through people live streaming. I hope Kespa understands that.

Won't this break sc2? When the bw pros have had enough time to practice, there will be NO CHANCE for foreigners to even get a chance in GSL. If MLG's are dominated by only koreans, will the international community lose interest?

Yes, this has been planned by Kespa to destroy SC2.

Well just imagine the work ethnics and the hand eye co-ordination of MVP, MC, and Nestea. Well now you got 100 more of them. The ONLY thing that got me excited about this switch is that I can fucking cheer for Huk in the face of adversity for 'national pride' (the true North and Free shiz) but now I am not even so sure about that anymore. I guess I can go like "yeah my favourite guys are pwning scrubs from left and right. That just won't be satisfying enough...

There's a lot more than just MLG and Dreamhack, even before adding in the bw pro switch. It's been common to have a major event every weekend, lack of content is not a problem.

There's a lot of hate on SC2 in this thread, some of the replies seem to show that people saw some sc2 in beta, didn't like it, and are still judging the game based on that. It's not deathball vs deathball anymore, few builds involve 1 basing, there's a good mix of macro games and punishing greed. Yes Colossus are boring, but most good 'toss use storm and archon these days anyway. And Terran often play mech. Saying things like "T always play bio and it's boring" shows that the commenter has outdated game knowledge.

Watch some GSL Code S, or the finals day of any MLG such as DRG vs MKP, the metagame is getting really good and will only improve with the added versatility HotS units will add. Yes the game isn't as mature as bw yet, but why not help it get there instead of bashing it?

Woo, this will be so exiting )). Hopefully we'll see a lot of creativeness due to great minds and players trying out new things in the new game, of course that hope might be unforfilled if people play it safe and pick strats from sc2 players, but we'll simply have to see!

The way I'm going to watch this: Wait for the VODs, then pick the BW games and watch only those; completely ignore the other games.

If this somehow doesn't work out, I'll give up on watching Proleague. Forcing my favourite players to switch to SC2 does not force me to watch SC2.
Brood War is alive and well.

I get that you're not a SC2 fan and all but seriously don't make uneducated statements just to hate on a game you don't like. There are streamed/casted LANs pretty much every weekend and major live tournaments at least twice a month. SC2 doesn't suffer from a lack of live events.

You mean like the MVP vs parting code S semifinal set 3?

edit: set 3, not 4

Did you just say MVP vs Parting was deathball vs deathball?

Did you actually watch it?

Individual Leagues
GSL (I presume you're just not counting this for some reason?)
MLG
Dreamhack
NASL
IPL
Iron Squid
Assembly
Homestory Cup
IEM

Team league
GSTL
NASTL
IPTL/IGN TAC
KSL

If anything, SC2 has too many tournaments, more than the scene can support.

I was just calling out his statement that MVP vs Parting was series of deathball vs deathball which is entirely false, I don't mind the SC2 hate but I dislike people blantantly making stuff up to justify their hate.

As Kespa enters the Starcraft 2 scene, fans are already hyping up the match between you and Flash.

It will be fun to play against him. However, I’ve seen recent articles about Starcraft 1-Starcraft 2 running in parallel. Frankly, the two games running in parallel is too hard on progamers. I’ve played Starcraft 1 from time to time as a Starcraft 2 gamer and it feels way too different. I regret the fact that Starcraft 1 gamers have to play two games at once. I think the people who decided this were too selfish. They didn’t consider the players at all.

This is true, yet BW pros doesn't seem to whine about it at all so far. We'll what will happen, but I think that it will only slow their progress in SC2 and make them maybe a little, little bit worse in BW.

Only good from this decision is that the BW community will have a smoother switch to SC2, so the game will gain much, much more fans. With a crowd of BW fans joining the SC2 community, we might finally get at ahead of LoL in viewer numbers :D

What makes you think BW fans are going to watch SC2?

Because of being fans of the players and not solely the game

SC2 is basically a different game. It's like saying all the BW pros switch to DoTA/LoL. Are you going to watch them then just because you're a fan of them? Same logic. Some people like the games, then the players.

Of course, some people like the game before the players, but then again, some other people like the players/teams, then the games.

KeSPA is basically making a huge gamble in assuming that enough people are fans of the players and teams first to make this entire endeavor sustainable in the long run. It is entirely possible that they might be right, but it is also likely that they could also be wrong.

Yes, because BW never has cheesy sets.

Parting has been playing very greedy, which has allowed P to have very strong late games. MVP punished him for that, it's the metagame evolving, the very thing that has always made starcraft an amazing dynamic game.

This comment is perfectly representative of what I see a lot of, trying to judge the entire game/community by a very small sample size. If a SC2 fan who had never watched BW before decided to give it a chance, saw two mediocre sets, and judged BW to be a terrible game based on that, what would you say? That is what you're doing to SC2.

I watched GSL every night from the opening match up to the Genius vs Dongraegu finals. My enjoyment of the game was going down over time, not increasing. I didn't really care that people were getting better at the game because it still wasn't exciting and I honestly don't ever see it becoming excitng.
